i'm starting to reall like kens run kick. if you tap it instead of holding he just runs without the kick, you throw instead it confuses them..
i still lost though. lol

And/or masochism
Heh, that too.

Thing is, I don't even begrudge hard stuff. Back in Phantasy Star Online I took on the boss 'Dal Ra Lie' while massively underlevelled. In all honesty I shouldn't have been able to beat it as the gargantuan gap in my stats and where you're supposed to be when you fight it meant that almost any of it's attacks could instantly one-shot me if they connected and my damage so meager that it took half an hour to finally kill it.
So... to put this in perspective, I'm someone who spent half an hour fighting something that if I got hit even a single time would cause me to have to restart the entire fight, a task so stressful that it basically gave me full-body adrenaline shakes afterwards so bad that I could no longer hold the gamepad... and yet I don't want anything to do with SFV's survival mode :P

The issue is that it's not difficult, it's just tedious and the few fights that are actually dangerous are, to be frank, total input-reading BS you have to exploit in order to pass, else you have to grind through the training-dummy-level chaff that chewed up the 30 to 50 minutes you utterly wasted leading up to that.

It's easily the worst fighting game mode I have ever played. Everything in it feels badly implemented and unfun purposely to prolong single player content. Braindead fodder AI for 25 rounds, but insane difficulty spike with input reading "no fun allowed" robot AI in the last matches. Random supplements selection that can make or break a 20 minutes playthrough. Complete it 3 times with each character with each costume to unlock colors.

And it's insane how you get nothing for losing, not a single exp point. Imagine the feeling of losing at round 99 on Hell. Oh and don't forget the random disconnect which boots you to main menu.

I agree. There ought to be like an alternate way of unlocking colours. Like perhaps get a new colour every 10 survival mode plays.

Or just get give us the option to use an item to skip the first 25 dumb AI matches.

Bison is by far my most difficult match as Karin.

And Capcom throws them at me nonstop

GGs Rice-Eater. I don't like the Fang Ryu matchup because hadoukens can come out fast enough that the poison mist doesn't stop it fast enough and then going straight which means that they will reach Fang before the poison does. I'll probably play Bison if I fought a Ryu since I don't like playing Fang against him.

I was playing a Bison yesterday, he was 1500 pp above me, I was keeping him out, playing footsies, it was going well, took the first round.

Then he counter crushed me into a 50% damage combo, that seemed to never end, and it just didn't stop. I didn't know what was happening, and I didn't know what to do to make it stop. After that he was just far more aggressive and I failed to keep him out.

I've been trying out hellmode and kept getting to like 10-20 of 100 fights before the server kept disconnecting me. At this point I'm so fucking over trying this shit for colors or titles until I hear what changes (if any) Ono is going to do in the next patch.

It's seriously not fucking fun at all. Survival in Arc System Works titles generally is fun (besides the stupid as fuck AI abuse in Mars mode level shit like P4U and Blazblue: Continuum Shift's releases) and at least doesn't fuck you over repeatedly.
Man it just sucks even more hearing that there are games that have similar modes that aren't complete trash. :/

Are you EU or US? If EU can I play you sometime? I have a hard time against some Ken Ryu's online and while you're a lot higher rank than me I could probably learn quite a bit.

I main Rashid.

US, I tried playing another Euro a few days ago and it just didn't work. But I did have good connections against some during the beta.

GG's SixMachine. I wanted to say something before I left but we aren't PSN friends so I didn't know how to except to leave the room because I have to leave right now. Nice Sim and Fang. If you anti-air'd better with Sim I would have had a much harder time trying to beat you. As for Fang, I had to learn how to play the match up again since I hardly run into any Fang's.

I don't like to jump so much, but the characters you played make me do so lol. Another thing, I couldn't believe how much you were jabbing me out of my st. MP into cr. MK block string. So I changed it to cr. MP instead because it's a tighter string and counter hits lights. Gotta just take it sometimes when people figure out what you're doing.

I actually did try to B.HP multiple times with Sim, but I got counter-hit because the startup was too slow. I don't think I'm going to main Sim to be honest, I just like to play him for fun. I also got a lot of flubbed instant air stuff, so if you saw me randomly going into air getting a punch, it was that lol.

edit: I also need to get used to the hitstun on j.mk. It's pretty short, and I landed it too high many times on a jump in, which either meant I got punished or I couldn't combo. I should of used j,HP for jump ins more, but the angle for j.mk is pretty neat for Fang.

There is literally nothing worse than losing on the final round of survival.

Get through 25 rounds of trash, 4 decent opponents, and lose on the round 30.

Why even play?

Lol

Same shit

6 matches in tonight.

1st was another Bronze player that I got lucky to beat. Then a rookie player who RQ. And now a streak of people well above my level

I want to try and do Survival Hard with Cammy, but man...I just...can't.

Part of me wants to download a mod and just cakewalk through it to be done with, but I don't wanna get banned.

Only 3 more characters to clear survival normal with: Bison, Fang, and Necalli.
There may not be many modes at launch, but I'm getting a lot of mileage out of survival mode. Stick with it and you even start liking it.

Also, if the AI is going to read inputs in a possible future arcade mode then I say leave it out.

Do you have any cheese tactics for Mika?

I've been mixing it up in casuals with friends between Nash, Karin, Necalli, Ryu and sometimes Mika. I feel like I've yet to explore the roster but man, these chars are so much fun.

I can't give you a solve-all cheese but for fight 27 against Gief, which always cost me the most health, he's pretty vulnerable to just being pecked away at with charged roundhouse kicks. It's time consuming but you need the HP for when the game inevitably gives you low healing supplements for the remaining 3 fights :P
Whenever he blocks the kick, just get the hell out of there and don't try anything fancy.

I message a dropper "learn from your mistakes", and he responds by blaming it on lag. Which is the exact opposite of what i told him to do. But I'm sure it was the lag, not the 5 blocked cannon spikes.

One of the perks should be a continue. Of course it should cost a ridiculous amount of points though, a good amount of strategy/planning to get and maybe only being able to be purchased once per run.

I just finished doing her actually. That HP butt jump move that lunges you forward... know the distance that it travels and then do it just far enough away that it still connects but a quick jab from the opponent won't cancel it. At the right distance and timing it can even go over a fireball. When you get to the last 5 matches, try to input as few commands as possible. When the opponent is knocked down and you're waiting for them to get up, either go over there immediately and throw them when they get up or press nothing until they get up and then do the HP butt slam. Sometimes to mix it up do jumping HK and as soon as you land do HP butt slam. Just make sure that after you do an attack that gets blocked, immediately start blocking and then jump back to get some distance between you. And again remember to input as few commands as possible.

lol @ comments, I'm enjoying my purchase :)
(and racking up that fight money)

I've lost Survival Normal more times than I am willing to admit and have wasted so much more time than I am willing to admit.

The frustration is too real. Fuck that mode.

If I have 300k points by the end, it's be nice if I could buy more than one thing.

Of course Capcom kills the Battle lounge, why not.

GGs Tornado. If y'wanna go again, just yell.

I'm still down if you are. That was the first real Bison I've played. I need all the experience I can get. But yeah, ggs regardless. That slide is way more effective than I remember it being in IV. >_>

Cmon he's obviously joking.

EDIT: Just saw your edit lol
It's always interesting to see what gender people pick for you online :P

Interesting advice, with Peach shooter being unsafe on block I never figured to try it like that :3
As for my comment earlier, I'm just teasing of course :3

The secret for me to enjoying the mode is to just treat it as extended training mode for the first 25 or whatnot levels and practice combos on the AI until it gets to the point it fights back. I could still do without the massive time-sink though :P

Il add u bra

My PS4 is still on and I see your invitations but I can't play right now. My wife and I are about to do some late night shopping and I still have my PS4 on just to watch replays before I go. She doesn't want me playing because if I get started I'll kind of lose my mind and want to keep going. Especially if things don't go my way. Definitely want to play some other time though.

dfasdfasdafDASFIA EFA IM A SOSO DFM ASIDNFFUCUKKK!KK!K!K!!!!!!!

I did the HP butt thing and it carried me all the way to level 26 but then the AI starts to rush you and it doesn't work anywhere near as well. If Gief (28) gets too close he'll just throw you, and if Necalli (29) manages to land a hit he'll juggle you to oblivion. Just a warning for anyone thinking it might be a magic bullet.

I've been reading up on some tips and watching videos on the mechanics -- and while im by no means good.. In ranked matches im getting people disconnecting before I get my EXP.

It is so god damned fucking annoying.

The feeling after playing a set, and thinking about it. I just remembered a bunch of things like the b,f+punch for Fang can destroy projectiles and he has a coward crouch he can combo off of. It's like wait a minute, I didn't do anything I practiced lol.

Once the DLC shop hits, people will realize why Survival Mode is such a stupid piece of shit mode.

All of those individual Colors costing Fight Money will shock, amaze and anger everyone.
