Ghostlight teases more Japanese Games for Steam (highly requested Action Game + more)

I just remembered people noticing "Nightshade" in the Steam database:

https://steamdb.info/app/422800/subs/
I wonder if that's the PS2 Shinobi sequel, if so that could be a decent pick.

Interesting, but would it qualify as a highly requested title? Honest question, I haven't really followed Ghostlight's blog and what people have been tweeting at them. I just saw this review by Greg Kasavin and I guess it looks okay.

Review.

Wouldn't SEGA be handling that?

Not necessarily, they have been out-sourcing their ports for quite some time now.

Nah it could jus be any other game by that title

Possibly, but there's nothing with that title on Steam or Greenlight.

Wouldn't SEGA be handling that?

Sega seems to outsource their re-releases.

Nightshade and Shinobi for PS2 were very solid, often overlooked action games. I think partly because they traded off environment detail for fluidity of gameplay, well, that and they were batshit hard. :P

You're right in that it wouldn't be highly requested because they were pretty niche even at the tme,so it's probably not the game. This topic just reminded me of it.

Jesus, I dunno. How about Asura's Wrath? There's gotta be some other shlubs that want that, right?

Right? ;___;

Going off-topic, but does anyone have a full list of current and upcoming Japanese games on steam?

Searching JRPG doesn't work since you get thousands of indie "JRPG" game releases, and some are region locked and will not even appear when searching for them.

For shmups there is a dedicated thread for PC releases, Japanese and western games. For other genres I don't know.

Capcom have their own team for porting duties, but I am hoping that Asura's Wrath will be brought over at some point. That game just looks so amazingly over-the-top. WBacon has recently teased that something is coming up after Resident Evil Zero and Dragon's Dogma (thank you Lashman).

Might even be Okami HD, IIRC doesn't that game use some form of MSAA with the PS3 port?

My wishlist is short... but if it happened... I'd marry Capcom.
Ace Attorney, Ghost Trick, Okami HD, God Hand and Asura's Wrath. Thats the only thing I need.

I'm hoping for Nier.

While I would love to see this happen, I just don't see Square-Enix out-sourcing it to a competent team, they would just do it internally and give it the same shitty port treatment that was given to their other Japanese titles.

If I remember correctly Okami HD on the PS3 used down-sampling as a means to reduce aliasing.

Tsk tsk, how short and narrow minded you are my friend, and I mean no offense.
Those are not the ONLY Capcom titles that should make it to Steam, let alone current gen systems-
Street Fighter II Collection
Street Fighter III Collection
Darkstalkers Collection
Power Stone collection
Capcom beat'em-up collection
Megaman X Collection (Vol. 1 is 1-6, Vol. 2 is 8, CM and MHX)
Megaman Legacy Collection Vol. 2
Cyberbots collection

tO name a few

Well, going by that, I'd love all of their legacy titles. I could've added the Onimusha and Viewtiful Joe games. Dino Crisis (hi Jawmuncher) or Megaman Legends. But these 5 are my top priority.

Vanquish on Steam requires small efforts to port (same engine of MG Rising) and it means one thing: Easy money.
A lot of easy money.

I mean at some point you could just say EVERYTHING.

Nice picks, I would also add Dead Rising 1 and all the Dead Rising franchise DLC that is currently only available on Microsoft consoles. I wouldn't mind a proper port job of the later Breath of Fire entries.

Guys, EDF would be XSeed. It's not EDF. It's either El Shaddai or Way of the Samurai 3.

So @ev4nac and I have just been asked about a very cool, older Japanese action game, by our boss. Think our response was yes please :)

Would El Shaddai or WotS3 really be counted as "older" and games they've had a lot of requests for?

I hope it's not Shaddai since you can already look at screenshots and get what you need from the game.

Pretty sure the tweet in that second quote is talking about another game.

Doesn't Ghostlight also port games themselves? It could be that they were allowed to make and publish a PC version of a game they didn't necessarily publish it originally.

But "action game" has my complete interest, and I can't wait to know what it is.

Could it be Muramasa? It's a Japanese action game and I'm sure it's highly requested (I for one would love to have Vanillware stuff on PC!). It's not published by companies that would do the port themselves like Sega or Squenix, either. Aksys doesn't do their own PC ports that I know of and has worked with Ghostlight before (Agarest games) so they have an existing relationship.

Kinda, it's their sister company, Laughing Jackal, that usually does the porting job, while Ghostlight publishes the games, iirc.

That Tweet was talking about a different game. So doesn't really say anything about this one :)
