You don't need a plus account to join a party or have party chat. PSN is kind of stupid, though, so it wouldn't surprise me if it's confusing you joining the party chat with you joining the online game or something.

I just broke a 3 game losing streak against a cammy.I swapped it up to try Necalli. I feel like I need to play him a lot to learn where these gaps are because when I play against him the round ends before I even know what hit me.

I'm having a lot of fun with the game. I haven't gotten into a fighter since SSF2 on SNES so everything is a little new to me. Combos a different for sure and the V thing I need to figure out and Chun-Li is totally different with her lightning kick.
Anyways I was super happy I had 3 wins in a row and had 199 LP (you guys probably have lots more) but then I lost to 3 Kens in a row. One of those was a really close fight with someone ranked really high compared to me but the other ones I got shown up like a chump. Back to practice for me.

Oh, bingo. I don't get mad about online losses, but I literally got to stages 28-29 for Normal Survival with Cammy like four times in a row. My DS4 is lucky my furniture is comfy!

There's no punishment whatsoever for now so yeah, SF4 wasn't even close to this

Rage quitting is infinitely more rampant in SF5 than SF4. SF4 punished you server-side for any disconnect on your end, intentional or accidental. You could play for months and never see a single one.

I would be so depressed. The other character out of the DLC I'm wanting to touch is Urien. Which means I'd be stuck without passion or a main for the game for months if he's the last one released.
I think Guile is going to be OP as fuuuu when he hits though. His combos will be mad easy to do now that it's the SF5 combo system, and with a v skill and v trigger to add to his boom game... man he's poised to be a wall.

Are there any penalties for players who rage quit? Looking at recent posts here, it seems like a really big problem, and there's no excuse for any developer of a fighting game to not punish these players severely in order to deter them.
As far as I'm concerned, if you disconnect in the middle of a ranked game, that should count as several losses (not just one), and you should be unable to play any further ranked games for at least a day.
Christ, at the very least, design the online in such a way that if a player disconnects, the remaining player immediately gets a win, rather than nothing at all. Don't just fucking give them an error message and boot them back to the menu with nothing to show for it.
