If only Valve had launched this with some new games. My finger is itching to pre-order this but I need to know there's more to play on it than little minigames.

Oh, okay. I was just wondering because I tried the SteamVR Performance program and even tho I have GTX 980 ti and i7 2600K, I got the lowest score?

You definitely shouldn't be getting the lowest score with that (You should be getting 'Very High' - are you running any software that is limiting framerates to anything below 90fps?

Ugh, is this really Digital River? I'm already prepared for the launch shipping nightmares. They are the worst.

THE WORST.

Not that I know of. I only have a 95hz monitor if that matters.

Me too, but not for that price. Maybe in a few months, in case it doesn't do as well as expected, but for that price you can buy quite a few different things that probably give me more joy ;)

Yeah. I am saying "200€ more expensive is half the price of a middle-class Pascal GPU soon".

If Touch comes out and Oculus reveals their roomscale tracking, I will buy that. Just sad, since I really wanted to buy it...

though you'll have to spend at least some of that $200 on Oculus Touch

Dude's a billionaire yet is still sporting a PC gaming setup that's this pedestrian? It looks like my PC setup.
I expected at least 3 30" 4K monitors and a roaring beast of a rig.
You gotta think like a rich person. This is his VR Rig, so large high-res monitors wouldn't be very useful. Those would probably be on one of his other computer setups. On this thing he's got two GPUs, that's all that's supported by VR. On his hardcore gaming rig, it's probably some beast with four Titans. And he probably has a business rig designed to be super quiet/cool.

Damn I caved in and ordered (9:52 confirmation mail). Hope still in april.

I don't even want to say what it cost me to order to Switzerland....

Its a 1st gen launch. Not sure what you expected. Also with wrappers etc more stuff will be available than what you think.

I expected a bit more content like the exclusives Rift has. I thought maybe Valve or some other companies were keeping some stuff under their sleeves but now I see that isn't the case.

Uh yeah, I hope he wasn't seated on that chair when he called it awful. You'd think coding minecraft in Java would teach you a thing or two about occlusion.
He's already said that he's tried nothing from Oculus since DK2 and that Rift is the better of the two when seated. He just doesn't trust Facebook.

Well HTC decided for me I suppose, they don't ship to Malaysia. Since when do we get anything new anyways.

Looks like I'll have to pick mine up when I get back to Australia at the end of the year when I get home. I suppose it's good in a way as we should probably know who has the lead between oculus and HTC by then.

I really hope HTC are well supported, I know oculus will definitely be around for a while but HTC I'm not so sure about but I want room scale much more than the just the pure seated experience of the oculus. I think oculus has the better quality headset though.

He probably expected at least one moderate production value title from a commercial developer. Like Eve Valkyrie or Edge of Nowhere on Oculus. Doubly so with this being Valve's (a development house) brain child.

do you know if you can arrange the lighthouses in a wider area but use a smaller area for gaming?

In my home setup, the PC is in a separate alcove which might just about be enough for standing, but is definitely where I'll do any sitting games. But for room scale (small), I'd need to be in the other half of the room. So ideally I'd have the lighthouses set up to cover the overall area.

yes, the room setup tool lets you draw the space you want set for your play area, and you can always go back and change it. Theres also the option to switch between standing setup and room.
Think of where the light houses are positioned as being the maximum usable space (one at each opposite corner) since you will lose tracking once you go out past where they are placed.

Since my successful pre-order I have been looking at some VR demo trailers to get my self hyped. And then I realized something...

Since VR is blurring the lines of the digital and reality I hope devs put character creation similar to the Mass Effect Series in their games. One of the best experiences in VR was looking at my hands and body in Elite: Dangerous. Depending on the depth of the game it is going to be jarring for me to get really into a VR world and pick up an object with a white males hands. If the game is really character focused this is not big deal (sorta) But if my interaction with the world is simply a mute avatar please don't ruin immersion for the rest of us! Gender choice and skin tone slider can't be that hard to implement!

Sorry for the derail. Maybe I should have started a new thread! :P

Had to use a debit card that doesn't have enough money on it at the moment since the credit card wouldn't work for whatever reason. I don't see a hold or anything yet. Hoping that this means I don't have to worry about it until April.

Why are people talking about taxes/customs? Aren't those included?

Don't want to find myself paying a 22% extra for Vat since i'm in IT
