Street Fighter V |OT2| Another Fight Isn't Coming Your Way!

Congrats, now you see why Capcom's "we want players to feel engaged with our content thereby they unlock things for free to continue to engage with the game" is bullshit.

But you get a whole SIX CENTS when you level up!

I've earned enough for 8 characters already and they haven't released daily challenges or trials yet.

I was certain it was going to be an awful grind to unlock characters before the game came out, but honestly Capcom is being more then fair about earning fight money. If anything you get too much and it might hurt their revenue going forward.

how the heck have you earned 800k FM?

USF4's 'From C to Shining C' was ATROCIOUS. I had to grind that FOR A MONTH with another player and it was...nightmarish.

Nah, that was actually a great one. It didn't take that many wins, and it was still relatively low on the skill ladder where you didn't regress much if at all if you lost. It was just a lot of characters. That one actually encouraged variety.

With $60 release price even with the rushed release date, and DLC / characters / whatever in the future, I don't feel like Capcom has to worry about hurting revenue from fight money.

If revenue gets hurt because of negative feedback from the release, that's a different issue.

Serious question here, I just got the game and I'm playing through story mode. How are your DPAD thumbs not a complete mess?

My thumb is almost rekt already, think I've got a blister within 1 hour of playing.

I really hope colors will be in the Shop when it launches

because there's no way in hell I'd ever get Laura's color 8 otherwise

Really good write up.

Slightly bummed reading it, but these were things I could see myself right out the gate. I was wondering if there was something I was "missing" as far as the character goes that made PR Rog such a monster with him.

I'll still mess with him until Alex hits. I'm playing most of the cast to get experienced with them so when my main arrives I can feel comfortable on what the rest of the cast is capable of in that bronze/lower silver league type of player hands.

I'm curious, what is the best version/s of Necalli's shoryukens? I am wondering if MP is still the most invincible one to use on his wake up if you know your opponent is going to hit buttons, or if it's not like Ken/Ryu's in that regard.

Here are a a few things I picked up from watching PR Rog just last night:

Anti-air with st. MP, and st. MK in that range where cr. HP doesn't work.
After counter hit cr. LP, st. MK,charge down-back cr. MP xx EX Rush

I think waking up where you're making a read with DP, the jab DP is the best since it hits crouchers. If you see the standing attack miss then just wakeup with HP/EX DP since its plenty of damage and invincibility.

With that said, the choice to stick with Necalli has easily cost me 1000 LP. I lose to super bad players that I'm sure I could take with Ryu despite spending maybe an hour playing him in SF V. Anti-air timing/ angle is a huge mental block for me with Necalli when Ican't be sure if the DP input is in time, will come up short if I do it too early, will mostly miss if they're jumping from close by. Hopefully those anti-airs work out for me.

I'm sticking with him since I think I need to learn to press more buttons and not down-back so much, so hopefully he helps with that.

Any tips for fighting Bison as Karin? That's probably the match up I'm struggling with most at the moment.

Back when I played on pad, I got a callous on my thumb after a few days. That seemed to keep my thumb from becoming sore again.

Everyone on easy, normal and hard. Done I think 5 or 6 on hell.

Yikes, that's some serious grinding. Any tips on exploiting the AI?

I'm tempted as I really want those colors, but I might just wait until the next patch to see if they address the complaints.

I've had some recent success against Bison's with Karin lately, the big thing you need to understand is Bison has no reversal and his normals are slower than Karin's. When you get a knockdown you got to bully him, stay close to him the whole time. At the same time he'll win the mid-range and full screen game so you can't just go nuts trying to get in, you have to let him either make a mistake or just slowly walk him to the corner.

I mean... I play pad, but my thumb is completely fine. Not sure what kind of mashing you're doing to hurt yourself.

Haha, well I am mashing a bit hard but its an xbox one pad, and every time i do a quarter or half cricle on the dpad my thumb will catch the edges of the direction since its quite a rigid + on it and the edges arent that rounded.

I guess it will end up like playing guitar where it hurt the first few days then my finger got used to it.

I'll try that. Thanks.

800K?! God damn..

I'm at 260K and I barely can finish Survival on Normal, in fact, so far I always choked against Bison...I need to beat this mofo! :(

But yeah, Capcom are very fair with the way they're giving FM so far, I can give them that.

Playing survival normal was actually pretty fun with R. Mika. I got to 27 and hope to at least finish 30 for a few more colors. I'm not sure if I'll do 50. The cool thing is that it's gotten me to try different attacks, get used to the inputs, and practice things repeatedly.

I have a noob question though. After I use several of Mika's attacks (uppercut, slide heavy kick), the enemy always gets knocked down. With the uppercut for example, I cannot damage the enemy further until they fall down and get back up. This means I cannot combo more than maybe 2 hits. Is there a way to knock them up and then do something else while they're in the air or falling? Do I have to jump to hit them in the air? Ground attacks just seem to go through them.

The simple combos I have learned so far are:

LK MP (target combo)
rope throw wall bounce -> most any move (charged triple-kick, uppercut, heavy slide kick, whatever. I'm not sure if the enemy can block while they're bouncing)

You can't edit meshes atm so all I can do is texture and material editing but I figured this was recognizable enough. :P

Still need to increase shininess of suit and try and remove the seams.

Except that most FM is locked behind godawful SP modes. The amounts you get for playing the actual game is absolutely negligible.

Back on the dreamcast with cvs and cvs2 I got a bunch of calluses on my thumb because the dreamcast dpad is raised very high and the edges are pretty sharp.
I remember one session I got a blister on my thumb, so I just repositioned my thumb placement till I got a blister there too ;P

I've dubbed it the streetfighter thumb.

That is fucking awesome, shame I'm on the PS4.

If you're playing online, it's gonna be a grind.

If you're playing Survival, good fucking luck on getting that FM while the servers go up/down on a moments breeze thereby resetting you, screwing you over and not allowing you to get anything but a waste of time.

Also once you've beaten survival for all characters you gain NO MORE MONEY after that and thus have to do the 50FM ranked/casual win "grind."

That's not the way to reward players for 1) playing primarily offline and 2) wasting their time because your servers/FM implementation can't handle them reconnecting after the end of their survival round to calculate their EXP/FM because you're too goddamn worried someone is going to exploit it.

Awesome!
You could also try "The Boss" from MGS 3... She has a sneaking suit that might translate well too...
Not to mention, she's blonde already...

Worst character in fighting game history. Would rather play Vergil vs Vergil 4: Tale of two Swords. I'd rather have 16 Rufus' in character select than one Laura. HATE HATE HATE.

That's a really good suggestion :) I'll maybe give that a try once I finish this one

Hey, it's source correct!

If that works on Hell I guess I have no excuse not to cheese hard and get some goddamn Ken colors. It just seemed like it wasn't working that well when I tried it before, but I guess I wasn't forcing them to the corner consistently.

Even doing that is random as hell, you can even see in the video that he nearly lost multiple times. I died on 82 as Ken and it feels awful considering you get nothing for the attempt, just an hour wasted.

Necalli's v-trigger is the only good thing about him. You just have to trade 2/3rds of your health bar to get to it. At that point, one good combo will kill you. Also, thanks to how much knock back his moves have when he's not in v-trigger, you're most likely not going to get a full-damage combo off of his activation if you start with anything other than st.hp/cr.hp. But, it better be a clean st.hp/cr.hp, otherwise you're v-activating on an opponent twirling in the air, waiting to be stomped.

I do have an idea though. I've spent some time thinking about it, and I have a strategy for Necalli that I want to try & formulate. I just have to confirm something before I start trying to put this together.

If you're using his V-skill wisely (as in for combos and full screen pressure) you'll get V-Trigger pretty fast. I think it can also absorb fireballs.
