Street Fighter V |OT2| Another Fight Isn't Coming Your Way!

Jab on-reaction, pressure him with blockstrings and potential command grabs afterwards since he'll drop down next to you. Play the grounded game and be patient if he shows restraint, since any decent Dhalsim will anti-air Mika relatively easily thanks to her high jumping arc. She also has good normals to whiff punish or beat his limbs clean:

rebkpx.gif

Her options are not limited to the above either, so find out what works in Training Mode. Got stomped 3 - 17 against a really solid Mika (who was in the top 90 or so at the time) a little while back and the tension I felt was something else due to her corner shenanigans.

That .gif looks pretty crazy.

Alright, thanks, stuff to keep in mind and try out for myself against Dhalsim. Teleports always seem to be out of range for me to do anything against, but my approach is probably wrong.

I'm unsure what works, but I figured I'd see if you've tested these in the lab.

I haven't taken it to Training mode yet, but I'll have to.

The grind from Ultra Silver to Gold is the worst. You need to win 75% of your games to realistically keep pace, you lose way too many points for each loss, basically every loss is worth 4 wins and it's kinda bullshit.

If the difference in skill between leagues are to be taken seriously, then I think that's appropriate. It's a bit weird now with all the RQers, though.

Survival needs some serious re-work. Someone tell me why clearing this mode with an alt doesn't unlock colors for the default costume as well. What were they thinking?

They were thinking 'How much Fight Money can we force these suckers, er, I mean, our fans to pay for each individual costume color?'

There's ZERO reason for it to be designed in such a way otherwise. It's ridiculous to do it once per character per difficulty. It's fucking INSANE to do it once per costume per difficulty.

The intent is that if you can't win that often you don't deserve to be gold ranked. It may be an achievement but being a gold player is supposed to mean that you're much better than average at the game which means you have to win lots.

I'm not saying I don't agree with your frustration , especially if you feel you ARE good enough to make it in that gold tier. I mean, I haven't had a single ranked match yet and probably won't for a couple months because I don't think I'm good enough to compete at a satisfying level to myself or my opponents.

SF is at it's best when opponents are very close to equal in skill , it gets boring if you trounce everyone and it gets frustrating if you lose all the time. Ultimatly if you want to be in gold you've gotta check your tapes and find out how to fill those holes in your game to start winning those 3/4 games to move up.

They don't call it a struggle for nothing. :P

My two cents: I feel like they really need to adjust how much LP you lose once you hit 1k LP, it feels like you hit the 50% W/L wall WAY too early with it being at 1000 LP. With the top of the boards being at 8000 LP already I feel like the curve should be more gradual than it is currently and this wall should be at like 2-3k LP or something. 900-1200 LP or so feels like a complete brick wall right now, of all the people I know playing the game right now no one can make it out of this, but because this "wall" is relatively early even at 900-1200 LP range I'm still getting matches with people who clearly have absolutely zero idea what they're doing. Right now most of my matches are a complete shitshow one way or the other, and I still have yet to see a single player between 1400-2000; I either get matched with people sub 1200, or people above 2k (which is a separate issue). There's too many people with way too wide a range of skill levels in too small of a pool. I think at 1k LP if you lost say 35 for a loss instead of 65 it'd allow for a much more even distribution of players. Honestly curious if they'll do any balancing in that regard or not.

I think I just wish sets at higher ranks were 2/3. It really sucks to get randomed out by a laggy Ryu who teleport crossed you up and lose 120 points.

But the ultimate goal for any good match-making is that you always win 50% of your matches, so that sounds like it's working as it should.

Edit: Though being matched against people who are far away from your skill level isn't good, so that should be fixed.

I like the way StarCraft II distributes it:

8% of the players are in Bronze
20% of the players are in SIlver
32% of the players are in Gold
20% of the players are in Plat
18% are in Diamond
2% are in Master

I agree with you that, in SFV, it seems that Bronze has too large of a percentage of the playerbase in it right now.

Right, I fully agree the 50/50 W/L ratio is the dream, but basically I don't think them making that ratio at 1000 LP allows enough time to determine trueskill/MMR/whatever you want to call it. Curve should be more gradual to allow players to shake out into more reasonable skill brackets, at 1k LP player skill levels are still WILDLY all over the place. Again, all IMO.

Losing 65LP makes a lot more sense if you lose against someone has less LP/Lower League. Say you're playing a dude with 800LP and you have 1100LP. You lose the match and get deducted 65LP, sure makes sense. Once you hit 1000LP, if you lose to anyone, you get smacked with 65LP deduction. Doesn't matter if the other player has way more LP than you, which kinda sucks.

Taking it upon myself to make a Sakura redesign I actually like. Still a wip but Im liking this route

I just played about 20 ranked games and encountered only one ragequit but at least it made me laugh. Again why ragequit if your just gonna continue losing at your current and higher levels.

I think at Ultra Silver or Higher, Ranked Matches should be Best of 3 and give more Fight Money.

Capcom needs to open up about what they're doing already, the radio silence it aggravating.

Major props to whoever is developing the Android app v frames, it was just updated with bnb combos

Good shit, and it's totally free

Check it out, guys

I started playing ranked today and i already have around 800PL, lost 5 matches out of 18. All the training in the casual mode is paying off!

BTW, i didn't get the "Addicted to winning" trophy, is it glitched?

Lovely redesign. As a Sakura player during the SFIV days, i approve.

Once again at 1050 LP it's matching me against 2100+ LP players, come the fuck on Capcom.

Unrelated: as Chun, how in the FUCK do I deal with Bison? Like seriously 9 out of 10 ranked matches are me against Bison and I just get utterly destroyed every time. I seem to lose most air-to-air battles, and I just get constantly crossed up with jump-ins that I can't seem to deal with. This is by a country mile the one match-up I just can't seem to deal with or figure out at all, it's incredibly frustrating. I would probably legit be at 2k LP if I never fought a single Bison lol. Any tips?

Remember. Capcom thought it was a good idea to sell exclusive frame data rights to another company than to bolster their own product by putting it into the game like Mortal Kombat X did.

Such a mess of a launch, when this could have been big. They screwed up properly introducing newcomers to the game, screwed up having content for people who aren't immediately interested in the online portion to get into, screwed up actually having the online work properly... just a huge damn mess which will absolutely ensure that SFV will not reach the audience it could have otherwise.

Maybe they'll have another, minor shot when they release it F2P later on.

you have an air grab for air to airs and back roundhouse to deal with crossup attempts.

How did they mess up newcomers?

Anybody want to play some sets against a Ryu? I feel like I have to say that everytime because people might be sick of fighting shoto's. CFN is Rice_Eater if yes.

Can't tell if you're serious. I'm talking about newcomers to the fighting game genre and/or Street Fighter, and conveying how to properly play the game and adjust.

I'll play a few. CFN is FluxWaveZ.

While I don't have MK X, I've seen enough to know that having the frame data right there at your finger tips in-game is extremely helpful to learning what moves you want to prioritize, assuming they tell you what +/- means.

Oooh. My bad, I thought you were saying they botched the Rashid reveal or something.

Yeah I think I'm done with ranked for a while, been playing for about 8 hours and I am literally within 100 LP of where I started with most of my wins being against players who had no idea what they're doing, and my losses mostly against people just straight dominating me because they're clearly way out of Bronze league level. I don't mind losing, but I'm learning virtually nothing from any of these matches, like 80% of them are blowups one way or the other. At least in Casual I won't have to deal with constant Rank Up/Rank Down notifications.

I haven't gotten an air grab to connect a single time on a Bison, believe me I've tried. Back roundhouse works but once they get a single knockdown on me they're usually able to jump in and cross me up at an angle where that's either going to completely whiff or I can't even get it off at all. His jump-ins seem to be my main problem, just get crossed up so easily and I've had Devil's Reverse (?) straight-up beat EX SBK which I don't know how the fuck that works lol.

In general though I think my biggest weakness is just getting crossed up on jump-ins when I've been knocked down.

I feel like them splitting it up between Ranked and Casual was dumb. Just put everyone in a single pool all the time.
