The problem with Cruz is that establishment GOP hates him maybe even more than trump, and moderate republicans find his almost dominionist brand of conservatism insane.
All the GOP wanted in this election was to let Jeb and Marco beat each other up and let Cruz fall into the same rut Huckabee did last time around. Instead the constant bleating of their noise machine over nearly three decades caught up with them. The same "what's a matter with kansas?" style republicans that propped them up for so long are now going to destroy them.
