  • Explore a vast Hyrule, a mysterious Twilight Realm, and masterfully-designed dungeons. Restore balance to the world with the aid of the impish Midna and your divine wolf powers.
  • Featuring enhanced visuals such as high definition textures and a 1080p native resolution.
  • Gameplay improvements such as being able to switch between first and third person aiming, quicker movement for swimming/climbing, streamlined Tears of Light collectibles and larger available wallets.
  • Added Miiverse functionality - scattered throughout the game there are new Miiverse stamps that feature characters from Twilight Princess and the Hyrulian alphabet.
  • Play in Hero Mode to take 2x the normal amount of damage — and do it without any heart drops to refill your health! Note: Hero Mode is only available in the mirrored version of the game ala Twilight Princess on the Wii and cannot be toggled on and off after being selected.
  • Included in the amiibo bundle is the exclusive Wolf Link figure for use in the upcoming Legend of Zelda game, launching in 2016 for the Wii U.

  • Link/Toon Link - Select these amiibos to replenish your supply of arrows. This effect can only be used once per day.
  • Zelda/Shiek - Select these amiibos to replenish your hearts. This effect can only be used once per day.
  • Ganondorf - Take increased damage in normal (2 times) and hero (4 times) modes. This effect can only be removed by leaving the game or hitting a game over screen. It can be triggered again after either of those conditions are met.
  • Wolf Link - Use this amiibo to be transported to a special challenge area called the Cave of Shadows where you must fight waves of enemies in your wolf form to unlock treasure. After completing the dungeon you can save your remaining hearts to the amiibo to replenish your stock later.

Review Thread

Gamespot 9/10
Twilight Princess HD is unmistakably a product of its time; one that was cursed from birth with a warped identity. Crafted during anxious times for Nintendo, developed for two consoles simultaneously, this was the GameCube's last hurrah, a Wii launch title, and a defining test for motion controls (which have been stripped out). Perhaps now, ten years later, it can finally be remembered how it ought to be; the dark and violent showpiece of a treasured series.

Shacknews 7/10
On the whole, these improvements make Twilight Princess HD the best version of the worst modern Zelda game. That said, even a mediocre Zelda game is still pretty fun. If you can get past its tonal oddities and paint-by-numbers structure, it's a good game, but not a great one. I enjoyed it as a cultural artifact, but replaying it made me appreciate that this direction for the series was temporary.

IGN 8.6/10
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD holds plenty of memorable moments that’ve stood the test of time, and Nintendo’s high-definition update does a lot to modernize its look and feel. This cleaner, fresher presentation is still noticeably and disappointingly flat in some ways, but just past that are some of the best puzzles and dungeons to be found anywhere in the series.

Thanks to Dafont for hosting the Triforce font.

So excited to finally play this game. Everything I've heard says this version is worth getting even if you've already played it <3

Man, I'm at work really anxious to go home. Nintendo Direct + Zelda 2am here in Brazil.
Preload already done since day one.

Played through the first dungeon. I went through it faster than I remembered.

Aiming still feels a bit off even with the gamepad.

Despite some pacing issues, it's one of my favorite Zeldas. The dungeons are on another level.

Played up to the first dungeon so far, but I got to say that I had - probably influenced by the constant moaning - the beginning of the game worse in mind than it actually is. Apart of the bad goat minigame you've got to do twice, it's actually pretty varied and atmospheric.

Super hyped. Copy shipped yesterday. This is my whole weekend. Haven't played it in ~5 years or so (right before skyward sword). This will be the kickoff for my zelda franchise replay before zelda u.

Playing hero mode, FPS controls. Maybe ganondorf amiibo on top.

i started replaying and playing for the first time through a lot of games of the zelda franchise last year in anticipation to zelda U. Played through 100% completion in this order:

- alltp
- skyward sword (1st time playing)
- wind waker hd
- ocarina of time wii U VC
- albw (1st time playing)
- majora's mask 3d
- link's awakening (1st time playing)
- ocarina of time 3d

And now i want to get TP HD as soon as i can since it's a game that i played twice, one on the release time, and another around 2008~2010, so it's been a while that i don't play this game.

You plan to play through the entire series? I want to play the rest of the games (oracles games, minish cap, ds zeldas, zelda 1 e 2) but i feel that i at least played my most wanted at the moment.

Picked this up on day 1 for Wii and never really got into it. It was, in some ways, the beginning of my dis-interest in the Zelda series. However, after skipping Skyward Sword and most of the DS games, Link Between Worlds and Wind Waker HD have me interested again. I may pick this up and just power through the opening section.

Me too. I started it again one year again but stopped a bit before lakebed temple.
Though I don't play it 100% since GC version in 2007.

I would rather have the Hero Mode un-mirrored.
Me too. The saddest thing about this remaster. I will have to play it in easy mode.

Got the game on monday.
In the goron mines now. Mostly I think the controls (particularly Epona) aren't as good as TWWHD, but good enough. Weird the amiibo and miiverse things aren't explained soon in the game.

Also, can't stand that font lol
It's used everywhere each time someone needed a Zelda font for the past 15 years.

yep, I think it's kind of relaxing. They really ease you into the adventure.

My Amiibo set has shipped from Amazon. I never played the original (WW U was my first modern Zelda game) so I'm hyped for this! I'm working away next week and plan on taking the U with me for lonely evenings in the hotel.

Great OT btw.

So you can play almost mainline Zelda game with the Wii U/3DS combo it seems?

LoZ--Both VCs
Zelda 2--Both VCs
Zelda 3--Wii U VC
Link's Awakening--3DSVC
OoT--Wii U VC/3DS Remake
Oracle games--3DSVC
MM--3DS Remake/Wii VC via Wii U Wii Mode.
Mimish Cap--3DS Ambassador/Wii U VC
WW--Wii U remake
TP--Wii U remake/Wii Disc via Wii U Wii Mode
SS--Wii U Wii Mode

This is something I really wish games would stop doing. Kingdom Hearts is really bad about it, too. I feel like you should be able to switch difficulties in any game at any time.

What the shit.
Ugh.

Pretty sure the reason this is the case is because of the mirrored world -- it has to load the mirrored world and save what you've done in it and such as far as progress goes. I suppose the work-around for it should have been allowing you to change it every time before you start/continue the save file but that's not here.

If it wasn't mirrored it would be like WWHD for sure.

Anyway, my copy from Amazon has shipped. It's arriving sometime tomorrow (I'm hoping in the afternoon but I doubt it).

I wanna hear about how the swimming controls are changed! Aonuma said they changed em in those retrospective vids, like he was correcting some grave injustice on the level of the Iron Boots in OOT3D.

Can't wait to play this finally and hoping to get my copy tomorrow.

Twilight Princess is one the few Zelda games I never played so more than excited to experience this for the first time on HD.

Played 4 hours of this last night, I dabbled in the Wii version previously.

Hero Mode really gives a difficulty curve and intensity I think the game probably needed? It almost feels Dark Souls-ian (I know, I know) with having healing items being the only means of restoring health.

Overall, I'm going to beat the shit out of this game finally and love it. Looks beautiful and Hero Mode makes it a challenge worth dominating.

I received mine this morning.

I'm using the GamePad as the controller and I'm not quite liking the way Epona handles.

I pre-ordered the Amiibo bundle from Best Buy in January just on a whim in case I really wanted it, and completely forgot about it until I got a shipping notification that it's arriving tomorrow.

Present to myself I suppose!

Mine is arriving tomorrow, I can't wait. This is one of the only Zelda games that I have played just the once, despite loving it. I was considering replaying the Wii version just before this was announced.

Ready to re-play this great entry in the series this weekend.

Now all we need is Skyward Sword in HD. The Wii version looks terrible on my tv.

If you want you could play the DS zelda's on 3DS as well.

Not sure why you would do that, but it's possible.

With the exception of TPHD, i'll be playing through in timeline order (as for branches - fails, child, adult). Next game is Skyward sword.

Because they're charming games with great, clever dungeons and fantastic soundtracks. I adore the DS games.

And of course you forgot the DS Zelda games that are on WiiU VC and 3DS (via carts).
You're also missing the 4Swords that is on 3DS as a 20th anniversary gift and 4Swords+ which is currently locked on Gamecube.

In short you can play on current gen ALL Zelda games but 4Swords+

e: my copy just shipped from amazon, just has to actually get on the continent where I live AND clear the customs.
See you next week I guess :/

I loved Twilight Princess, and I stand by it. So I will buy a version that doesn't look like shit. Excited to play this again.

Totally forgot that this was both coming out this week and that I had pre-ordered the amiibo edition through Best Buy a while ago. Lets see if they screw up this pre-order like they did with the Fire Emblem one.

I'm really excited to play through this again. It was probably my my favorite 3D Zelda after OOT.

I'm still dissapointed that they changed the cover art, I think only the American version has the beautiful one now, The EU one just looks messy with Midna slapped on it, and I've never been a fan of the half link/wolf link image that they also used on the original cover :(

LOL.

I missed those games completely.

Amazon screwed me over (again) with their so called "release day shipping" and stated that the game won't arrive until the middle of next week. I preordered this thing the day it went up on Amazon. I just ended up cancelling the order and preordering at Best Buy with in-store pickup for the same price so I can play it this weekend.
