Nintendo Direct: new presentation announced for tomorrow

There's a lot speculation in the Zelda community that the subtitle might be linked to the book Link's been carrying around in the teasers. I hope it's some type of grimoire.

"The Legend of Zelda: Grimoire of the _______" or "The _______ Grimoire" would be neat.

Who knows!

I'm still not convinced it's a book. It could just be a really neat sheikah pouch. his bag of holding, essentially.

Here for the announcement of Style Savvy 3 for the Americas and Monster Hunter: Generations, the rest will be gravy.

Not really. Super Paper Mario and Sticker Star really killed the franchise.
Really? How so? Because sales numbers say otherwise...

I don't see the problem really, it's like HD remasters, it's not like it would've been better to sit with PS2 and Xbox and don't bother with PS3 and 360 just because Last of Us, Uncharted 123, Halo 1234, etc are now available in higher resolution and framerates on PS4 and XB1.
I mean how fun is it to wait several years to play the games other people can play right now? :/

Theres a whole other side to this that people don't think about though. What if the wait is unavoidable instead of optional?

I've been pretty busy in life and haven't really had the most time for gaming. I invested a lot in my PS3 and its been great but boom, out of nowhere.. Everything is getting ported to PS4. I never got to Last of Us, Valkyrie Chronicles etc and now we have shiny versions that run even better on PS4.

Doesn't make the PS3 versions non functional, but it does render copies obsolete in a sense.

Kinda annoying when I look at my PS3 collection and more than half of them are on PS4 with better graphics and performance. No way I could predict newer versions coming out but I can't lie and say it doesn't make me a little hesitant to jump out and buy certain titles.

I really want a Wii U also, but there is an undeniably high chance that a lot of these games could be ported to NX.

Pretty much sums up how I feel. No last minute Wii U megaton = tears of disappointment. I'm not gonna scream in excitement if Pikmin 4 gets announced for Wii U today either. I liked Pikmin 3 but its in the same boat as Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker.... Not exactly exciting but fun in its own way.

Paper Mario or Mario spin-off general title makes sense for the Wii U. Pikmin 4 makes sense for the NX. The Wii U console is heading into the twilight (and bargain bin years), which doesn't make sense for an exclusive premier title that showcases hardware more than it sells software.

Not really. Super Paper Mario and Sticker Star really killed the franchise. I mean 95% of people who want a new Paper Mario game want a real sequel to TTYD lol. That game is what...12 years old or something?

Super Paper Mario was the best-selling game in the franchise and has sold more than the first two combined.

Sure, it did that well because it was on Wii and near launch, but it was very well-received and a lot of us fondly remembered it. Meanwhile, Sticker Star wasn't just different, it was just shallow. That's just my opinion, but I can at least assure you that Super Paper Mario has a lot of fans.

Interesting that you word it that way, because Super Paper Mario was moved from GameCube to Wii anyways. It wouldn't be without precedent.

Fair enough. I shouldn't have put Super Paper Mario in the same group as Sticker Star lol. I liked SPM. However, I believe Paper Mario fans would rather a new game be more like TTYD than SPM.

I think if we had another SPM like game a lot of people would be disappointed. But that's me and I could be wrong.

I'm expecting a trailer and a half and some kind of DLC/Amiibo situation. Honestly these Directs are never super thrilling, though the hype is always fun to join in on.

I... dunno? I'm pretty happy with the first Splatoon (at least until the online playerbase dies, which'll happen eventually, I guess). I only expect a sequel possibly so soon because Splatoon did so well and Nintendo wants the NX to sell.

More tentacle styles and Octolings of course though

Right? That's why I'm asking. I don't really know myself what I want out of a Splatoon sequel. It's soooo goooooood.

Hopefully a new Wii U game will be announced and its a JRPG. That would make the Direct a megaton for me. Even something like Harvest Moon on Wii U would be great.

Kid Icarus Uprising HD is also megaton.

Super Mario Strikers Charged HD is megaton.

Any coverage for SMTxFE is megaton.

NA direct is more likely to have #FE by virtue of NOA loving Fire Emblem and their flexibility to sometimes release games in one language, as with XCX, though in that case French and Spanish were later patched in. Yokai Watch was the same for at least French.

Something has to give or the NA Direct will be shorter without Fates or Yokai Watch.

AGREED. unless Fates gets coverage just for the sake of it and Yokai Watch coverage = sequel information.

Etrian odyssey 5 japanese stream is tomorow (or after tomorow) so I wonder if we will some quick infos in this Direct about it.

I'm the 5%, admittedly. The problem is that Mario & Luigi are sharing a seat with the Paper Mario series, and having two RPGs already feels excessive. I imagine that to consumers without fondness/nostalgia for TTYD, they'll look at it and think it's just Mario & Luigi with paper characters.
And the recent Paper Jam game will certainly not help that possible sentiment either.

I know I shouldn't be, but there's something about a new Nintendo Direct that get's me hyped. I also just love experiencing it with NintendoGAF.

Wait, did this happen for the North American version? That is kickass if so. I was really disappointed by the lack of those subs at launch and I can imagine it must've been even worse for those in Quebec and Mexico/South America. :/

It killed it so much it's getting new games.
Plus I loved those spin-off

You're right, it's easy to experience it with everyone. E3/Gamescom reveals are always great, but leaks inevitably spill out and things become a little disarrayed.

If the SNES games on n3DS are true, what are the chances some will be available right after the Direct? I remember Galaxy 2 was available right after but if I remember correctly, the DS and N64 games weren't.

Is it just me or the hype for today's Direct is pretty low compared to previous pre-Direct threads on GAF? : /

Leaks deflate the hype. Also, it was announced yesterday. Usually, we know about directs a week in advance, so it gives plenty of time for hype and theories to build up.

I think it depends on whether we are getting some new download title (like BOXBOY! 2) as an "available shortly after the presentation" or not.

Days have been shitty. I could really use more Zelda U info right about now.

I've had a total of 5 hours sleep this week due to fucking norovirus and I'm not even hoping on that. Don't like being disappointed.

Yes.. I bet money we will see it today in some form

If rumors about doing an NX version are true, I doubt they'll mention it again until blowing it out during/shortly after an NX reveal.

the people who find silly forum hype entertaining got bored eventually.

the people who were genuinely hopeful either burned out or got their hype explicitly quashed by learning there'd be nothing on NX or mobile.

if the SNES games on 3DS is true, and they still aren't cross buy after we finally have a nintendo account, then they can fuck off.

And then I'll buy them anyway.
