Star Citizen Alpha 2.0 | The 'Verse Awakens

Oh wow, I wasn't expecting them to go right to live.

Time to try out that cooler!
"Please note that all backers who signed up before the $56 million stretch goal will already have a J-Span Cryo-Star on their account! These coolers can currently be mounted on the Avenger, Aurora, Mustang, 300 Series, HOrnet, Gladiator, Gladius, M50 and P-52 Merlin."

Aw, I don't get a cooler. :(

Wait, what does the cooler even do?

Makes you "cool"(er), duh.

Also Reliant cockpit support view as sneak peek in ATV.

Ahmed asking about you in Discord. He wanted to know what framerates people were getting. Whilst they were testing the instances.
Thx for the heads up.
Well I probably sould frequent the Discord more often. Oh well. I was at least reporting my framerate in diff areas while instanced in server!

2.2 - Also a note to those that have been waiting for the Sabre and Xi'An Scout they are both up for sale again. ($170 and $150) CCU are up and working this morning as well. I think they will be available until this monday.

So far so good on performance. Everything in 2.0 seems faster for some reason. The Sabre is amazing, I can see it becoming one of my favorites ships. Shields are a little weird though, just about any collision seems to explode the entire ship.

I am happy to let you fly the Sabre whenever. My SC handle is jaazie.

Fast, stealthy, and explodes on contact... Kamikaze ship confirmed! =P

Heh, it could be like the 350R currently is in the new "live version". The fastest fastest ship, not so stealthy, loses wings on contact, but the main body is darn near indestructible. Last night before live hit (K build) I flew into the port at ~1100 m/s and did zero damage to the main body. I tried this 4 more times... nothing. It has been reported but as it is a 350R good luck getting 10 people to confirm it.

I don't have my 350R anymore. It's on the list of ships to buy back though, and I already have the CCU lined up and ready to go. Assuming the bug gets no traction I suppose I could reinstate the ship to the fleet to test and confirm.

Good question. I'm not sure if it increases both heat capacity and dissipation or just dissipation. Should be able to have better uptime on energy weapons anyway.

I will try out the J-Span Cryo-Star tonight and see if I notice anything on the 300 series. The OMNISKY VI heat up pretty quick so I will see if it helps or not.

Hopefully with the Xi'An in hangar I will be able to take the M5A off and try them out as well. They would not make it into the PTU. Worst case I will test them out in EA.

I am very much so contemplating CCUing to a Reliant from my Mustand Beta when the time comes. I will miss the toilet though if a Reliant Variant does not have one :(

It does look pretty cool. I have a Reliant LTI "Token" that I have not used my CCU to BMM on yet. Hopefully we will be able to test it out soon in 2.3.

Looks like it's just dissipation according to the holotable stats.

Cryostar: 455 cooling / 35 power drain
Standard: 500 cooling / 50 power drain

Bah. Guess it could be useful for low-power ships.

I'd like to see your list of criteria for picking out a ship and where exactly the toilet falls on it. =P

Well this is interesting. I actually got a 350R.

Yeah it definitely seems like it willbe 2.3 ready. Should be awesome.

Cannot wait to see how it functions in vertical flight :D

(1) - looks cool [x]
(2) - exploration [x]
(3) - toilet [o]

How do you find the cooling stats of your current ship?

The Carrack will tick all three. Heck, it might even have two toilets. Upgrade time! ;) Assuming you don't already have one that is. You're one of those that's not on the roster sheet for some reason. Slacker!

After flying the Sabre (a BMW i8), my Super Hornet feels like a Ford Explorer (maybe Eddie Baeur edition).

Yes the Sabre is fun to fly! I am curious how it will be once the full "stealth" mechanic are all enabled. I would imagine with a full ballistics loadout it might be tough to see on radar.

Tried out battle royale again just to see how I'm holding up in PVP these days. Seems like it has a similar problem where the frame rate drops once there are enough players. My accuracy's terrible at 30 FPS compared to 60!

Holy crap. At a LAN party and one of the people here mentions Star Citizen. Started talking to them since I had the Constellation package from early one and was cool to know someone else who plays it finally. Proceeded to pull out the concierge card from wallet and show it to me.

Got my client updating right now so they can sign in and show it off. Will be crazy to see the hangar full of ships.

Well shoot, this is what I get for not playing. Going to take forever to update. Will have to play and check the thread more often.

The EVA feels and sounds much better, the directional collision warning is a nice touch. Regular on foot feels off to me. Is sprint always on? Feels too floaty right now.

Sabre is decent to fly, the shields/armor I'm guessing is still bugged from the PTU update. Also the "cheek" gun placement and muzzle flash is terrible. Who thought a bright light flashing in the periphery would be a good ideal.

The HUD on it also needs Jesus. It's a mess. You have the big bright 3D globe radar against tiny dim screens on the panel. The whole interior is subdued with red lights and then the HUD comes up with bright colors and a giant blue globe, pair it with the strobe lights on the cheek guns and it is a rave during combat.

I think running on foot feels much better now (provided you have a gun up). Before it was terrible and the responsiveness when looking around has been tweaked for the better.

If you don't have a gun you run faster but you can toggle walk with the capslock (or if you're using a gamepad you have variable locomotion speeds).

AFAIK they're still working on the non-combat movement stances and locomotion.

Yeah, it is really cool to see the difference in how combat + noncombat aniamtions work. With a gun out, your characters rotation on mouse moves their upper body plus arm facing, without a gun it is done via head swivel and foot shuffle.

There are a lot of animation transitions which are missing right now though even for the combat stance, like the transition from jog to run, or run to sprint, or jog to sprint, etc.

It is definitely getting there though and it feels much more natural. I hope they eventually also allow you to hold down "alt" like in Arma to swivel your head when you have a gun out. That would be a cool addition if possible. Likewise, I hope they add a reload when you are in iron sights and it never drops the iron sights. I think RO2 does that.

are you telling me your character no longer spins uncontrollable when aiming down sight in zero G with controller??

Yeah, give it a try. It actually feels good. RB and LB are used to spin you now instead of LT, and there are indicators on your screen that show you how far you're pushing the left analog stick left or right. Pretty neat stuff.

2.2 live is not very stable for me. Encountering a number of hard crashes and freezes. Much more so than in 2.1

Yea it is still pretty ugly.

I have had issues with the loading screen into PU. No fatal crashes yet, but a few more rag dolls. Lots of de-synced dog fights. Played a lot with the Sabre today when I could get loaded up. It is not bad in live, still some issues with Weapons getting blown off even with full shields up. Fought two Avengers and a Hornet back to back to back. Had to run from the last fight with the Hornet as I had lost all 4 weapons, 1 thruster, and a wing.

Anyone know when the next sale is for ships you can't currently buy? Any new prototype ships coming out for sale soon? It's been a while.

Drove to that security post and noticed someone left their massive ship just parked there, hopped in, walked past the bunk beds, sat down and started flying off. The ship then disappeared and I floated down to the station, got in my mustang and left.

I hope the pilot was watching lol.

Lol. They're working on a few concepts. And I think the Sabre and Xian Scout are on sale atm.

Nothing concrete right now.

They have talked a tiny bit about 4th wave ships. No dates or prices yet.

A smaller 2 man mining ship(was officially brought up on friday), The Buccaneer a pirate interceptor, the Prowler another pirate/boarding craft, and The Polaris a corvette battle ship (smaller than Javelin/idris)

Anything else I am missing?

Yeah. That seems about right.
