I'm still confused as to why I'm not seeing any firearm stat upgrade when I modify a piece of gear with an added firearm bonus.

Has anyone did the high end weapon/tech exploit yet? I might have to find time to do it tomorrow or this weekend before it is patched so whenever I get a blue print I can just build it.

What vendor/where? Is it one in home base?

Yes, you can unlock special vendors at home base via security wing upgrades.
Also, the higher your level is, the higher the chance higher-tiered gears showing up on vendors. At level 15+ vendors are starting to sell purple gears and weapons.

Okay, I have hit the wall. This is not single player friendly at all beyond a certain point and you will get absolutely wrecked unless you start to match make at level 11 or so. Absolute bullshit levels of difficulty for the single player. Don't be fooled how easy it is for the first few hours. The game is unbalanced as hell and is clearly intended for all multiplayer. Even the DZ is a death sentence,

Played the Dark Zone for the first time today at lvl 11.

It was hard as hell. Played solo and then with a bunch of randoms. Every encounter was hard. I was having a hard time downing enemies lvl 12. Everyone was armored.

Is this supposed to be like this?

Anyway, it was still fun. But perhaps a bit to difficult, and I'm saying this as someone who is doing all the story missions on hard from the first time.

How do we utilize our talents? I have one that says "applying bleed to target triggers a 30% chance to apply the effect to all targets within 10m" not sure how to apply bleed though.

And I'm sure this has been covered. But sell lower level items or deconstruct. I've deconstructed all white items, but some lower tier green items I haven't figured out what to do with yet. I'm only level 10.

Also is it best to do missions on hard difficultly, it gives you better drops and more xp right?

Thanks!

Man, 4-man group in early-mid 20's, just started running into these nasty shotgun elites that bumrush the squad and then 1-hit everybody.

yeah those are the Rikers' "melee" mob, they're pretty mean compared to the axe/bat melee guys from previously just because they can stop and blast you in the face if you're shooting them while they're rushing you (as opposed to the previous melee mobs that can't do shit until they get to you).

Wait till you start fighting some LMB dudes, they flank like nboody's business and use legit tactics.

Skills and weapons and whatnot, for example the high end pistol pattern you get when you beat the game always has a talent that gives it a 12.5% chance to bleed anything you shoot with it, so I run my shield, the bleed AoE talent, anmd the pistol, and frequently cause entire groups to bleed. For fire you could use fire grenades or flame turrets, etc.

I think they should dial back the enemy numbers for solo instances for sure; having said that, if you are level appropriate, you should be OK.

It's when you try and hit something even one level above you solo, that's when it gets a bit harder (aka nigh on impossible sometimes due to enemies swarming your flanks/no revives).

So far, up to level 23 I have only played with other people for the main missions. They would be hard solo, but not impossible. You may have to out level them a bit, but that gets hard towards the mid 20s. The matchmaking is fast though so you can basically play it solo and then snag a group and move on.

do they require a headset so you can talk to the other players or playing without one is not an issue.

Ok, how buggy is this game? I just tried to do my fourth mission, Hudson Refugee Camp and after the first big wave of enemies I couldn't go any further. My teammates progressed just fine but I fell straight through the ground and woke up at the safe house. I went back to help them and it happened again. On my third visit I noticed the entire floor was missing, only the debris and train tracks were there. I tried my best to clamber over walls while sticking to the track but eventually I ran out of places to go and fell through the ground again. Wtf?!

You don't need a headest for normal, coordination isn't SUPER important, just general strats that aren't really important to communicate. I've done Hard at 30 without saying a word too, challenge is another story.

Whoever said single player is too hard...try changing up your weapon types/builds. I guarantee you can solo this stuff.

The only thing holding this game back for me is the gear not being varied enough. Let me hide the armor or at least make it all look different. Needs more clothes options too. I get the "this is serious" tone but they should've had fun with the weapon/gear designs at a certain point. Getting higher leveled loot doesn't really feel special. Seems like a big oversight.

I had a decent time in DZ earlier for my first entry. I managed to extract some decent upgrades, but solo it gets tough when a group of high level rogues is rolling around. There was a team of level 24 DZ dudes in the opening area, which shouldn't be allowed with the brackets.

Does your DZ level work independently of your PVE level when you go in there? As in, can I have a higher DZ level than my main one? Would my health and damage reflect one over the other?

I don't think your DZ rank affects anything except what you can buy from vendors. It's not really a power progression.

since i'm only in this for single-player (& just started in today), i'm really hoping this's the case. more than willing to grind a little if necessary :) ...

it'd be nice if they dealt with solo balance issues in a future patch...

It's next to impossible to extract anything in the DZ solo... it's crazy. Gonna have to bring the squad.

I just went into the DZ for my first time at level ten. This was largely my issues as well. The amount of NPCs that spawn at an extraction are insane for trying to solo. Of course my first interaction with another person was a level 14 person shooting / murdering me. I eventually got a few times out and got a bit of experience. It's fun and tense but yeah solo it's tough stuff.

I still can't get over this open world New York they've created. And they have all these seamless levels built into them for the main missions. It's ridiculously impressive.

They could reuse this map and create a modern day, lived-in version of New York and I'd totally buy it. Imagine the streets teaming with life and traffic. Make it a crime drama or something. Would be epic.

Fighting against higher level enemies in the darkzone ranks you up like crazy. When I first went in, I killed a single guy and leveled up twice. I believe he was level 4~5.

I was rubbing this game's nuts for the first 10 hours, but now it is clearly intended to be a multiplayer player experience. And this is coming from a hardcore Souls fan. But at least that series is balanced for single player. This is pure bullshit. Sorry, Ubisoft.

Perfect, thanks. All about the main level then.

Anyone up for some DZ grouping later tonight? Like in an hour or so? I'm level 13 on PS4. PSN is Tragicomedy.

It's been a few days now and I still have no clue where my Agent Origins rewards are. I successfully redeemed the code on XBL, but nothing has shown up in game, and there wasn't anything to download. Has there been any information on how we acquire these items?

what is this you speak of?

I think he's referring to the crafting mule exploit. Basically you create a new Agent, and level him to level 6. Since the stash is shared, you can exploit the fact that you can dump all your garbage purples into your stash, and sell them with the level 6 Agent. Then you buy as many level 6 blues as you can (you should get a lot with the cash you got from selling the purples and they are super cheap) and deconstruct them with your higher level Agent to basically get way more crafting supplies than you should have access to.

I'm in the same boat.

Jesus in all hell is that Napalm Mission both challenging and super hard with a group on Hard mode. Get that person to design future missions please, we actually had to think about what to do and that's a great sign.

That was a blast.

I heard that on XB1 you had to download those from the Marketplace or something after redeeming the code. Check there.

LOL, I have been soloing this shit. It is a killer game, but with ZERO regard for the single player once you hit level 9 or so. The difficulty spike is a joke. Be warned single players.

Not even half the truth my cousin has been doing solo since it came out and has some how handled being solo. Never asked me to play or do missions with him. Crazy Bastard, but i think that's do to him hitting the Dark Zone early.

I'm currently at level 12 solo on the PC version (playing the PS4 version with friends at the min too) and whilst it's definitely been a bit tricky at times so far I haven't found it too bad overall. Currently concentrating at the minute to unlock more stuff in my tech/medic/security trees but lookin forward to seeing how far I can push it :P However I just did the first mission with Rikers and I can tell they're going to be tricky bastards.

I see. So I need certain things to "acgivate" it. Thanks.

Yeah, same. I'm currently at 14 and while it can get rough at times I've been able to solo everything so far.

Played for a few hours, up to level 6. Doing it solo so far, except trying to get some matchmaking going for what I assume are the "main" missions.

I'm enjoying it but it's pretty overwhelming. The game throws a lot of information at you and it feels pretty easy to miss things.
I've yet to really get a feel for when you can matchmake (wanted help on a difficult sidemission and game said matchmaking wasn't possible for that mission..), how fast-travel works (or rather when it doesn't work) and just in general how the open-world functions in terms of what there is to do and you best do it together with other people. Events/side-missions.. what's the difference? And if you're in free roam with another group and want to start a mission, you have to leave the group to do so unless you're the group leader?

I'm guessing it will all click at some point but early on it feels like information overload with . I guess the positive side of that is that it feels like the game really got going quickly.

Gameplay-wise I like it quite a bit. Had some really good gunfights already. Can imagine it getting awesome with a good group in more difficult missions.

All I can relay is my experience. It's all good up to a certain point, but then it is clearly intended to be pure multiplayer for the regular missions and especially the DZ. The beta was a breeze compared to this shit. If you want to go solo, this is going to be a rough experience once you hit level 9 or so. I am just telling you straight up.

Solo:
- free roam
- normal missions

Group:
- hard missions
- dark zone

That's what I see after spending about 20 hours in the game mostly solo. I just can't do hard missions alone so far.

Huh, the Agent Origins items aren't on the XBL marketplace at all anymore. There must have been a fuck up, and hopefully they are fixing it.

Just had a jaunt in the dark zone at level 22 and holy hell that was tense. Between rogue agents and a constant swarm of yellow and purple bad guys paired with an always dwindling ammo supply me and a friend had to basically stealth our way to extraction.

One highlight was as we evading some Cleaners a bunch of yellow bar Rikers start a god damn street war while we try stay out of sight while they duke it out.

Passively bumping into other players and helping each other with a thin veil of threat makes encounters more meaningful in a way that never really worked in Destiny.

I am having a fine time doing solo, level 17 now soloed everything and outside of Hardmode and DZ its all do-able and not hard if you are the same or higher level. Obviously things will be easier in groups as it is the same enemies but 3 or 4 people shooting them instead of one.

Huh? I'm at level 15 and in still breezing through it. I haven't died once in single player.
