Massive ongoing protest in Chicago makes Trump "postpone" his event

I do not like trump but this really brings up questions of freedom of speech and freedom of association. Obviously people have the right to say anything about Trump and protest but Trump and his supporters should be able to have their event no matter how much you dislike him. This brings serious questions to my mind.

They can hold private events if they don't want protesters inside.....like Stephen Harper resorted to in the last Canadian election.....he lost

You realize this follows a series incidents of protesters being violently assaulted at Trump rallies (with Trump's encouragement and approval) right?

IMO this is true democracy. How ironic Trump shits this down due to safety concerns, but just a day ago at one his rallies someone gets knocked in the face. This needs to happen. People need to reject him.

One of the points of a protest is to disrupt. If they disrupt his rally and drown out his words then their protest worked. Why would you not protest directly to the person your protesting?

I'm honestly just happy to see people show up full force somewhere and protest against Trump and his hate-filled campaign.

Yea been watching this on CNN. It's amazing that so far it hasn't gotten worse. There were several fist fights starting too. It's sad that it's come to this. Trump has nobody to blame but himself. When you support hate and violence what do you expect to happen. Glad to see how many came out against this fucker though.

Absolutely. Trump could nip this stuff in the bud, but he doesn't. Saying he'll pay legal fees come on. And doing this in Chicago, I mean really.

Protesters are being assaulted at these events, this is Trumps fault, and nobody elses

Yeah, THIS brings serious questions to the mind. Not talking about killing the families of terrorists, changing the laws to punish the press, encouraging violent reaction to protesters or casually talking about punishing protesters and waterboarding in the same paragraph.

Unfortunately this will do nothing except heighten Trump supporters' victim mentality.

"Trump and his supporters should be able to have their event no matter how much you dislike him."

Based on what? Because? You're choosing order over justice.

FOX News is saying the protesters are peaceful and are interviewing them.

Bizarro world

Interesting. I mean it's true, we can't just assume this was canceled because of the protesters. They could have been 100 percent peaceful but the Trump supporters could have been the ones getting violent which caused the escalation.

Watch Trump get a bump in the polls off this ugly, ugly scene.

I would guarantee he does. Friday night rally in a large, liberal city. They knew this would be a clusterfuck.

"Bernie" chants and "build the wall" chants, wow. Somebody is gonna die over this election before it's over.

I can't help but feel that anyone who supports Trump is at least a little racist...

How can you support this man?..

I think you answered your own question, man.

Good on the protestors for doing this. This is long overdue and I hope it inspires other protesters to do the same at future rallies.
