Makes me proud that the people of my home city (technically I'm from a suburb of Chicago, though I was born in the city) managed to drown out the hate and bigotry that is Trump and his supporters
 
You can expect to see more of this. The violence seen at Trump rallies is going to spill out onto the street, especially as the General Election approaches.

It's good to see Chicago like this though. It's a really diverse city so it's nice to see something like this.
 
This is fantastic. Hope more people from the left stand up to this shit as the election season continues to heat up.
 
Traffic was a fucking mess on the Dan Ryan
as usual
but the fact that it was congested with Trump supporters taking the L and heading back home in a huff makes me happy.

This is Chicago. The cops shut this down cause they were afraid a shooting would happen with all those people in one place.
 
Some anecdotal stuff as a UIC student. I know a lot of people who are protesting right now. When Trump first announced the rally, there was a petition to stop it that got something like 50k signatures. It got shut down because UIC is a public institution and can't really prevent any specific candidate from renting the Pavilion. Kids who had classes after 2-ish were emailing their professors, telling them that they wouldn't be in class. One of my friends got a reply, "See you there" from his teacher. I had a discussion at 2:00 and a bunch of the kids immediately left to attend the Sanders rally and protest.

There was a smaller pro-Sanders gathering in the quad at around 2:00. I was there for a little while, and left once the crowd started growing. I don't have any close friends who are at the protest (or at least, friends I can completely trust to help me if push comes to shove) since a lot of them commute and had to be back home. So I didn't go to the protest in case things get violent - I really needed a friend to be there for me. A good amount of my friends are the same. I mean, Chicago doesn't really have the best track record for non-violent protests :P

Are you listening to this? Today is worst than ANYTHING THAT HAS HAPPENED EVER. Fuck The media. Fuck Trump and his dick riding squad..
 
Not that I agree with Trump but not allowing a Presidential Candidate to make his event isn't democratic and you fall to the same level as him. Protest with your vote and not with obstructing him, this will just fuel him and strengthen him.

No, they're there because they don't want him to keep spreading his message of hate, and intolerance.
 
I sadly predict before the election season is over there will be a mass shooting at one of these events. Shit is going into scary directions
