Massive ongoing protest in Chicago makes Trump "postpone" his event

That's actually an extremely apt representation of Trump's campaign.

I don't understand how this incident makes Trump look bad. I understand how many other things make him look bad, but it seems like this is just giving him free publicity. The amount of attention Trump gets over the other Republican candidates is probably solidifying his lead.

Go watch that Maddow segment or something. He looks horrible, but if that makes certain people dig in their heels, then so be it.

Listening to Trump on MSNBC, this guy is such a lying piece of shit. What a terrible human.

It's only going to get worse for Trump, as far as protests go.

I don't know if that really hurts him, though. I don't agree with him, but he has a pretty large support base. More protests akin to this one are only going to enrage his supports and lead to more aggressive campaigning. It also puts him leaps and bounds ahead of the remaining candidates, as far as attention goes. It's one thing when a candidate gets negative attention for their policies or positions, but when the headline is just "protestors shut down Trump rally," it seems like he's just getting attention. Period.

You think anyone who would consider voting for Trump watches Maddow? This will play great with his base and likely get him some more votes.

There are no other viable candidates in the Republican party, that's why him getting a bigger lead doesn't matter. The only thing that could stop Trump from getting the nomination is if the Republican party willfully goes against their voters.

That's a good point. I suppose it doesn't matter that he's getting more attention than the other Republican candidates. So, I guess the question is how this publicity affects the way undecided voters view him and, I'm still not sure.

So what do you think the groups of people he's targeting should do? Ignore it? I get what you are saying? But I think it will hurt in, not in the primary, but the GE.

Free publicity doesn't always mean a good thing.

It's just crazy how much support he actual support he has though. And I don't mean just for his more controversial stuff.

If a significant amount of people vote in their self interest, he'll be the president. Those tax breaks sure are something. They might tank the economy in the some form or the other, but people would rather have that much more money at other people's expense.

Disgusting. Absolutely disgusting.

I'm not for trump at all, I despise him, but the manner of this opposition is lamentable and deplorable. We are better than this. People need to act accordingly in the manner of the republic of which they represent.

Wake up! There is no excuse for this childish, adolescent behavior.

It was pretty overwhelming watching the 'We stopped Trump' chant. It seems we finally have something that will motivate the youth to get out and vote.

This is literally how America has always behaved throughout history in order to create change.

I can't tell if you're trolling or terrible at history.

there's like one of you an hour isn't there?

This is not disgusting, its fucking amazing. The first amendment doesnt allow you to speak without being protested.

That's a pathetic thing to say. Get a fucking grip.

He's a clown but you're not helping yourself.

please, chicago has been an calling point for the right and the GOP, for black on black crime, any time any BLM protest happens its "what about black and black crime, what about chicago" its dog whistle bullshit, they wish they could just say it.

You are all sorts of wrong.

...? Finally? Mainstream Republicans have been anti-Trump for 6+ months ... Have you not watched the debates, read any websites, news, etc? It's part of why his numbers have soared.

Yeah, as for that:

Just Now..

What a surprise that the party which embraces lies and anti-science rhetoric, explicitly said their top goal was to make Obama a one-term president, is currently unwilling to even listen to an idea for filling a vacant supreme court seat, and continues the fight to suppress voting rights and womens' reproductive rights through dishonest means, is the breeding grounds for Trump.

When they embraced lying, fucking the country to make Obama look bad, and underhanded methods for results that didn't have popular support, and when Fox News told their voters that those were all good things and anyone who disagreed was ruining America, they didn't want anybody to really believe it! And certainly not for anybody to take their methods and use them in ways they didn't approve!

His base already made up their mind, it doesn't matter, and I was speaking to her about how this makes him look bad, regardless of his lost cause hardliners.

Passion like this can be good for keeping people aware and motivated, and sure that goes both ways, but this is a man that already(if polling is to be believed) is VERY unfavourable among the general electorate(perhaps worst ever?), and a segment like Maddow put together for anyone that likes to be informed, and some real passion elsewhere could make him sink even lower.
