Captain America: Civil War - Final Trailer

What about ASM2?

Come on guys. Give me a movie cut that only has the Spidey swinging and fighting scenes and I'm game? It's literally the closest we've ever been to how Spidey should be portrayed in movies.

I remember being in awe at the Spidey catching the cop car scene, he flips it with 1 hand like it's nothing. The whole opening swinging scene is EXACTLY where the movie should've started (cut the parent plane scene and it would've been the goat of the goat in terms of movie opening).

ASM2 is a guilty pleasure of mine when I'm in the mood for some kick-ass web swinging and acrobatic fights. I usually browse GAF or do something else during the rest of the movie though. If we get Spidey scenes that are on par with the ones in ASM2 I'm totally game.
It's not hard to make the rest work...

Winter Soldier was so good at subtly portraying superpowers. That boat kick where it's like 50% from Cap and the guy goes flying.

Them having access to the rest of the Avengers, particularly Spidey, is truly mouthwatering.

I also found this collection of all the action/fight scenes from the Raimi spider-man movies

Raimi directed the FUCK out of these scenes. And I got to give Tobey credit, his grunts and screams really helped sell the effort.
I absolutely adore the final fight scene with Goblin in the first film. Seeing the hero get beat down to the point where they actually bleed was something I wasn't used to. He wasn't winning that fight but overcame it in the end. Still one of my favorite fight scenes.

It's funny. Most of SM1 is a lighthearted coming of age cheese romp with some darkness sprinkled in.

Then this scene happens and Green Goblin and Spider-man beat the monkey-shit out of each other in a Raging Bull meets Shaw Brothers smackdown.

Yeah, really. I was almost 12 years old when that movie came out and seeing my favorite hero get beat down in that way was shocking. That scene really is just nothing but pure fisticuffs and it was great. Then Goblin is impaled by his own device and the last thing he does is ask for Peter not to tell his son about who he was. Damn that movie got real in the end.

Almost didn't notice, same cinematography :P

Just noticed Henry Jackman's back for the score. Not sure how I feel on that. I think he did a great job with Winter Soldier, but this seems to have a very different feel to it.

Marvel needs to really nail down proper themes for each character. The two best scores they have are in Thor (by FAR) and The First Avenger, followed by Iron Man 3.

Winter Soldier is just the best really. It gets parroted a lot for good reason, and there's a reason Marvel have basically handed them the MCU on a silver platter after one film.

Also on the 2002 Spidey I remember having the super posable Battle Ravaged Spider-Man. Loved it!

it's kind of too late at this point to establish good themes for everyone right? this is what the 13th MCU movie?

Cap had a theme in TFA that was great... For a Chris Columbus, Indiana Jones-esque action romp. Jackman's score is much more subtle, but much more suited to WS.

That slow swell of the crescendo, really glad he's back for Civil War. But unfortunately whatever Spidey theme he comes up with won't beat the Elfman score...

People have weird opposition to MCU themes, I love a lot of the scores. Iron Man, Cap, Avengers, Guardians and Ant-Man all have fantastic scores that for some reason people just havent taken to.

The Guardians one in particular had me humming as I left the theatre.

Truth! As soon as I saw the opening I was like "OK Cap, you have my full attention.". Movie did not disappoint. Easily the best in the MCU...so far.
And it actually made the shield seems like a viable weapon/tool. I don't think Cap 1 or Avengers did that well enough. But here, seeing him use it to hit enemies from multiple angles, disable fighter jets, absorb falls, etc., the shield was awesome

Not really. Cap's theme would come from his first movie (and was actually used during his cameo in Thor 2).
Thor's theme is this. Easy enough melody to work into something else.
Iron Man would be tricky, since he's had 5 major appearances, and really no repeated theme (other than 3 instances of AC/DC). Still, the four-hit rhythm of "Driving With the Top Down" could be used as a clear cue.
Guardians currently have a theme, but it'll have to reappear in the second film. Hmmm, side note: this could possibly be the third best score in the MCU.

The others, yeah, no real theme, but perhaps one could be found? I know in the Avengers score there's supposed to be a Black Widow theme But even though it's good at incorporating who she is, it doesn't have the most identifiable fanfare (the sliding strings).

The only theme from any MCU movie i remember is the GOTG. Bestest music for the bestest CB movie.

Edit: Besides SM2 that is.

The Avengers, the Guardians, & Ant-Man in particular had memorable themes. Iron Man's IM3 theme & Cap's First Avenger theme are also up there.

I think most of the MCU heroes have decent themes I just don't think most people care that much to recognize them

It's also sometimes not used in a way that makes it memorable. The main reason I can remember the Avengers theme is because it was blaring during the "I'm always angry" group shot. Same thing with the Guardians theme during the end battle, though it's not as good. Those kinds of setups seem pretty rare. They need to coordinate more moments like that for the music to really stick with you.

Yeah, like typically there's just one track during the hero moment that you're like "bam that's a rocking character theme" but then it's absent through most of the rest of the film. If there were little leitmotifs sprinkled about here and there it would definitely feel more cohesive.

I'm curious about Civil War's score, I'm at least hoping for some cool variation on the Avengers main theme

Not really. Cap's theme would come from his first movie

I think Cap's First Avenger theme is staying in WW2 at this point. It's so linked to the tone and style/genre that film had that I'm not sure they could make it work outside of that. He essentially got a new theme in Winter Soldier that I like. It gets a full exploration in the end credits (a track titled "Captain America" no less).

The Winter Soldier score on the whole successfully straddled a pretty fine line between John Williams-esque patriotism ala The First Avenger and modern blockbuster Zimmer/Dark Knight propulsion. Stuff like Smithsonian is the former, stuff like The Winter Soldier is the latter, and Cap's new theme is a mix.

So I finally saw Creed and hot damn was it such a great movie. While it did have aspects of a Rocky movie it still felt like Coogler's own movie. Holy fuck the boxing scenes were fantastic. The way the camera was used and how it zoomed in during the boxing scenes were amazing. The third fight towards the end, during the second round just wowed me. Like I never felt that much hype from a sport scene like that in a long time.

Seriously since Black Panther is being directed by Ryan Coogler, it's definitely in good hands. I'm really excited on how he's going to handle the action scenes. Hopefully the movie will be great.

Oh, with all this music score discussion, If you want to hear how superior some of the MCU scores are to others, go to Pandora and create a theme out of the Marvel Studios Fanfare (it's on the Thor 2 soundtrack)
http://www.pandora.com/thor-dark-wo...ion-picture-soundtrack/marvel-studios-fanfare

You'll have to thumbs down anything from Awesome Mix Vol 1, but other than that, it creates a pretty cool channel of movie themes. Mostly superhero stuff (all MCU, Batman, Spiderman, Superman, etc.) with some other tracks (Lone Ranger, Star Wars).

These are my current details:

I love that he point blank throws the shield in a guys face.

MCU's has had some decent soundtracks, a couple of leitmotifs that work, but the best has be TWS. I can listen to Lemurian Star, Fury, Taking a Stand, The Causeway, Into the Fray and Countdown any time. GOTG has some good stuff too, especially Black Tears.

Considering Civil War is practically an Avengers movie in terms of the hero line-up, do you think its WW gross will be up there with the Avengers movies and Iron Man 3?

Could it beat those movies due to the inclusion of Spiderman?
