I voted today in Bloomington-Normal Illinois, and there are Bernie signs fucking everywhere. Since it's an incredibly nice day outside I'm driving around town, and I've seen more Bernie than any other candidate. Oddly enough I've actually seen a bit more Cruz than Trump.

The really bizarre thing is I haven't seen ANYTHING for Hillary. Not even a bumper sticker. I haven't even gone near the ISU campus as I'm sure it's Bernie City over there too. I still think it'll be close in Illinois, but I think Bernie will take it, but Hillary will make any gain here moot once she stomps him in Florida and NC.

I feel like Bernie and Trump are the type of candidates that have people riled up enough to do the signs thing, the merch thing to the extreme, whereas Hilary support is more low key, even though she has a ton of it.

Bloomington-Normal is my hometown! Good to hear the support is there. I'm down the road in Champaign-Urbana now, and I always figured Bernie would win in CU, while Hilary would dominate BN. I'm sure ISU is pretty Bernie-crazy. I think there was a pretty big ISU contingent that turned out to protest Trump on Sunday.

Yeah, it really feels like if anyone cares to advertise their vote, they're a Bernie or Trump supporter. I haven't seen a single Clinton sign, sticker, anything in Louisiana, but that's not really surprising considering voting Dem in the GE here will be like farting in the wind. I haven't seen but one sticker for any GOP other than Trump though, and that was a Kasich one.

The final countdown!

This may be it for Bernie IMHO :(

It seems to me he exceeded most peoples expectations besides crazy true believers... I wonder if he could of done anything differently or is Hilldawg just too formidable.

Although am I crazy or did he say he was going to stay in until the end? (even if it is technically over)

He did say that he would stay until the end. But everyone says that they will stay until the end. You can't say anything else and have your supporters still interested. But no one would hold it against him if he broke that promise. People criticized Clinton for staying in the race too long against Obama in 08 when he never had a delegate lead over her close to the one that Clinton has over Sanders right now.

Anywho, I voted for the man (early vote) in NC. Not because I think he has any chance of actually winning the nomination (hell I don't think he even wins this state's primary). And quite frankly, I do believe that Clinton would be a better President of the United States of America than Bernie for the reasons that Fragamemnon stated. He's uncompromising, he's stubborn to a fault, and would never work well with a Republican Congress.

But at the same time, I'm a big believer in margins in primaries mattering. It's not just who wins, but how they win and exactly how they win that informs the platform of the party going forward. Even I think they are more aspirations than tangible solutions at this point, Bernie's brought a lot of great ideas for pushing this country forward to the table that I'd love to see incorporated into the Donkeys' platform going forward. And who knows, maybe 2 or 3 election cycles now, with the state legislatures and Gubernatorial seats packed with progressive minds, a friendly Congress, and a liberal Supreme Court, a President could really sit down and make Bernie's dreams reality.

Till then, I'll happily, proudly vote for Secretary Clinton in November against Trump, Cruz, Kasich, Mitt Romney, Zombie Ronald Reagan (ok, zombie Ronald Reagan would be a really hard decision)

I went to get popcorn for tonigh and I ended up with pistachios and chips instead. What the hell kind of election cycle is this?

Tuning into msnbc
can't handle wolf anymore

44 percent republican in the Ohio precinct mentioned on msnbc. Wonder if that is the Trump effect or the Kasich home state effect.

In line to vote in NC right now. Pretty large line for a small town. There are a few counties in NC that may be extending hours due to delayed starts, if it hasn't been covered in the thread yet.

MSNBC saying democrats voting kasich to stop trump

Why are people playing these games when the Dem nom is still up for grabs and the Republicans don't need any help imploding

Still calling Bernie for Illinois and Clinton for Ohio. I'll change my avatar to Mr. Sulu if I'm wrong. No wait, that would be awesome... Someone pick something terrible for me

Lot of people feeling the Bern in Illinois from what I can tell.

Yeah pretty sure he has IL. Wish I wouldn't have put all my predictit money on the supreme court nomination and a Hilary president win, would have put money on IL earlier in the week. Ah well.

We voted in NC for Bernie!

GO BERN

Also Ohio fuckery crossover going to hurt Hildawg? yessss

Trump

EDIT: Also, switching sides to vote "against Trump" is the dumbest thing, since the Dem states aren't winner-take-all, and votes actually matter. I heard Nate Silver telling a Bernie supporter in a Hillary state who called in to vote in the GOP primary. Dick move, Silver.

Not until it's over.

This is going to be a long night lol. I would think it would be next to impossible for Trump to win Florida due to the immigrants and minorities in that state. If he wins, it will be quite telling.

I voted in Ohio for Hillary this morning, wife voted for Bernie this afternoon.

So I guess that's a wash.

Come on now, don't be bitter over your wife.

Damn I'm sorry

Nah it's all good, we're Democrats and will vote for whoever is the nominee. Just thought it was funny when she got home. She knew I voted Hilldawg.

Would voting for Trump be grounds for divorce?

Absolutely. Or any Republican.

Brutal

Amusingly enough I've had family members say I look like Benedict Cumberbund

Which is even funnier because I look like more like shaved Seth Rogen right now

Is there someone as horrible in Star Trek as Trump tho

Bernie might take the next 8 states straight. As a Hilldawg, I'd like to think that won't change minds, but it might.

Arizona? No. Hawaii? Doubt it.

I agree with this guy on MSNBC, I'm so goddamn tired of the South controlling the fate of this country. The whole Southern Strategy, the South controlling primaries and Elections. Why is one of the most arguably backwards regions of the United States able to exert so much control over the U.S.?

Mostly smaller states by smaller margins - not enough to shift the balance significantly. Most of the remaining large states are still looking good for Hillary, and even dramatic shifts toward Bernie wouldn't make them blowouts.

There's just not enough people feeling the Bern to make up that kind of delegate deficit, especially when Bernie is falling further behind in his delegate targets, even in states he's 'winning'.

The South doesn't control the primaries, and it really doesn't control national elections either. Only one swing state is southern.

It doesn't control either...?

I'm unemployed at the moment until my job starts in April. These races are keeping me sane. The best thing is they happen at 12pm onwards local time so I can get drunk whilst I watch them.
