Death Battle: Dante vs. Bayonetta

Can't say much on the matchup itself as much that I always enjoy watching fights featuring characters from the action hack-and-slash genre.

Their movesets always lead to exciting battles. Raiden vs. Wolverine was no short of that either.

Who is responsible for the CG work/animation on this?

EDIT: Torrian Crawford it looks like.

I'm spoiled, that was just way too good, who cares about who wins when the fights are so good?

Wow, I thought I'd enjoy watching that... but how can anyone listen to those voices and that script?

I loved every moment of it. I always love playing both Devil May Cry and Bayonetta so that video suits me perfectly in every way.

Yeah I kind of figured
Quicksilver
would cancel out
Witch Time
, plus
Dante's healing factor is a huge perk in his favor

The only VA in this I thought was "bad" was Dante.

I'll have to watch later, but
I figured Witch Time would push Bayo over, but I guess Dante does have a style that also stops time.
Dante has
QuickSilver which is essentially like WitchTime

and that was totally BOSS! loved the fight, though, it wouldve been awesome if they put Vergil in there instead of
Trish

But wow that voice work, Dante sounds like someone that belongs in Final Fantasy X.

I'd much prefer Itsuno's DMC3/4 team handle this over Platinum, to be honest. I think Itsuno's team has a better handle on solid gameplay, plus Kamiya would jam stupid mini game levels into it.
Itsuno isn't exempt from stupid mini game levels and pointless padding (DMC3's boss rush, mirror reflect and DMC4's dice game)

None of those three things you mentioned are even remotely as bad as the mini game levels in either Bayonetta, or the stupid first stage of the Mundus fight in DMC1. I actually don't mind DMC3's boss rush because by that point I'm so much more powerful that the bosses are pushovers and I'm still playing the normal game during that segment and not some knockoff Star Fox level.

Expected.
No way to kill Dante really. That and he's a demon hunter so Bayo's summons would be classed as jobbers by definition. No real way to argue that the demons in the Bayo universe are more powerful than those in the DMC one

Madame Butterfly went out like a sucker. Still my MVP

Expected result, we discussed this in the DMC thread where we also have some people who have played Bayonetta.

Dante is really close to becoming the Superman of the hack n slash of the genre.

Great video all around.

Watched the video again. I loved the use of Max Anarchy/Anarchy Reigns music in the bout. Perfect fit! The editor of the video knows what's up.

Well, you'll get no arguments from me. I highlight Kamiya since we know he's pursuing the idea because of that Project X Zone thing. I don't think it'll be that bad if Kamiya took the helm though, provided they tackle the project with the Bayonetta 1 mindset and have a consultant to tell Kamiya to not tie mini games to amazing bosses or rank stages.

Though I really wonder how a Itsuno-Kamiya Joint could play out.

A Kamiya/Itsuno joint project would basically be nirvana. Have Platinum handle all of the Bayonetta gameplay, have Itsuno's team handle all of the Dante gameplay. Both sides collaborate on the story. Personally I'm a little biased in favor of Itsuno's team when it comes to writing because I think their sense of humor is a little better.

Also (sadly) I think a Bayonetta/Devil May Cry crossover is the only way the Bayonetta franchise stays alive after Bayonetta 2's sales.

Nice. I was looking forward to this one.

Those voices... but still, very fun.

DMC x Bayo by Itsuno
Bayo x DMC by Kamiya

Collaborative projects please.

Great video!!

half if not most of Bayo's power are demonic

Dante is demon slayer

it's an easy win.

That's a simplistic way of looking at it but it couldn't be avoided as being the resolution. Bayo's angel slaying feats don't really translate to the DMC universe. I mean she kills some of the most powerful demons too. If we're going off of DBZ power levels I don't think he's any stronger than she is but Dante is on that Perfect Cell shit. Whole crew has to sacrifice themselves and you have to discombobulate down to a molecular level to make sure he's dead.

Dante had no business in DMC4 but he came through, fucked around and beat the game. Dude is broken.

Yeah, composite Dante crushes the whole bayoverse at once.

He crushes DBZ too.

Multiversal Pizza for the win.

I mean I kinda figured the result based on a bunch of things but one of their main evidence was that
Dante/Vergil fought so fast that they obliterated 100K rain drops in their vicinity. Not really sure what that has to do with anything, I am sure in a similar fight between Jeanne and Bayonetta it would result in the same thing.

Dante wins out because he just has superior regeneration capabilities and stamina plus a lot of Bayonetta's toolset is demon based which Dante excels at destroying. Bayonetta had agility on her side but once Witch Time was negated by Quicksilver as many imagined it would happen based on the mechanics of the Geryon fight in DMC3.... there wasn't much Bayonetta could do in the fight.

Since they brought up Trish vs Jeanne.... I think Jeanne would win that one most probably even with research done. Trish isn't all that strong and Jeanne is like the Vergil to Bayonetta. Trish has never really shown to have insane regeneration, speed or strength... just the standard super human stuff plus electricity and flying.

One thing I don't get is him going all bothered over her body type. I never found Bayo sexy. She loks like a Human - Giraffe hybrid.

That Trish vs. Jeanne video is pretty much unwatchable after all that glorious animation work in the main battle lol

It's funny that they used a feat from Dante at his weakest to seal their argument.
They said "cutting" all the rain drops, but couldn't the "vacuum space" be created by the sheer force of their movements and the swords' clashes? Still, that healing factor is a bitch
I always saw that as a cool moment, but not as a real "impressive" feat

Also (sadly) I think a Bayonetta/Devil May Cry crossover is the only way the Bayonetta franchise stays alive after Bayonetta 2's sales.

I guess that depends on Nintendo? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought Bayo2 performed "within expectations." I mean this is Nintendo but I'm hopeful for Bayo 3 if that was true.

No other publishers ain't gonna bite though. :/

Nice. I was looking forward to this one.

Now this is damn interesting. A chance to play a Platinum Dante AND an Itsuno Bayonetta is titilating.

Yeah, I kinda wish they threw out canonocity for a more worthwhile Vergil vs. Jeanne side fight. Or maybe save it for another video.

Or how about:
DMC x Bayo by Itsuno x Kamiya

That'd be cool, too, but I think I'd like to see each director's take on the other universe.

It's a pipedream, but I would love to have a collaborative effort between Platinum and Capcom that would result in two co-developed titles "DMC x Bayonetta" and "Bayonetta x DMC."

DMC x Bayonetta would be developed by Itsuno's team at Capcom.
Bayonetta x DMC would be developed by a team at Platinum.

Both games together would cover two sides of one story arc, and there would be intersecting paths at different sections of each game. There would be boss fights against the respective player character in the other game, but the gameplay would be tuned and balanced by the particular development studio so they would feel like entirely different games.

You could maybe even integrate online co-operative or versus play (or turn it off) during these cross segments with the other game. Think almost two campaigns of RE6 as separate games, but not sloppy and with more well implemented crossover.

I thought Kamiya confirmed Bayo was stronger.

In my mind Bayo is like a DBZ character, by the end of her game you are destroying gods and planets. Dante is like a Vash the Stampede or Dragon Ball character. Tough and skilled, but still sort of limited in a lot of ways.
