Death Stranding 2: On the Beach vs Original | Direct Graphics Comparison

The price of 60fps

I'm happy to sacrifice this generation for it, but next gen 60fps needs to be the fucking ceiling

In no uncertain terms should PS6 games be designed around 120fps, or 8K for that matter.

Still, game looks better (or at least as good as) anything else this generation.

This gen is extremely transitional for so many reasons, especially with tech.

Honestly, I would love it if games were designed around 40fps next gen with 60fps and 30fps options.

I'd be happy with 1900p/60fps next gen as long as ray/path tracing finally kills off baked lighting and screen space reflection.

I'm sure devs will be much happier too.

I mean it's an empty world they could at least try raytracing GI at 30 fps Jeez
They aren't allowed to push visual fidelity anymore, anything not 60fps gets crucified.

Framerate warriors have scared devs into settling for PS4 graphics at 60fps, killing a whole generation of visual progress.

Sony used to be known for raising the visual bar on console. Look at them now, getting schooled by random 3rd party devs left and right. A damn embarrassment.

And all of it has a Series S version so that's not holding anything back either. People have held on to that lie for 5 years now. PS5 Pro version isn't even that different from the looks of it.

But many of those "random" games are 60fps as well, they just use new technology - something Sony devs are allergic to.

It's PS4 Pro Pro level of graphics.

They don't use any current tech here so it's not really surprising but game looks very similar to the first one.

He was referring to the consoles not the game.
the difference between the two hardware systems isn't so great," he says. "It's more a case that on PS5 there are more efficient ways of arriving at similar goals.

Sony games are still among the best looking games.

Gt7 is the best looking racing game out right now.

FHW and DS2(appears) are among the best looking open world games out right now

God of war Ragnarok still looks better than 99% of AAA games.

I've been thinking that OP cherry-picked pretty lame shots, but video itself is not that great and the compression of footage is very severe.

Sadly we have people complaining about 60fps now so that too is a slideshow.
Constantly exposing yourself to the higher frames and refusing to let yourself adjust back is just conditioning yourself to it.
I've even heard people say they put on motion flow on to improve framerates.
This is how clueless they are.
It's the overly smooth look that they "think" is superior when in reality it shouldn't look smooth it should look "natural" which it doesn't.
And not all games with high framerates look natural either.
It's why I'm very selective when choosing the modes.
That and OLED TV's can't handle low framerates without additional processes that add delay

PS5 version of DS1 is 60fps in native 4k. DS2 is 1440p in comparison, quite a big regress here.
On ps5. The original last gen was nowhere near that. That's the comparison to make.

GTA VI should be compared to the ps3 version not the updated version on the same platform.

Agree for GT7, FHW and DS2, but not GoW Ragnarok.

The image is very clean and IQ is perfect, but in terms of tech it's very last gen and misses all the key improvements we saw this gen.

Excuse Me Wow GIF by Mashable

If you actually watch the video instead of the cherry picked screenshots it's a decent upgrade while still running at 60fps with decent resolution.
I 1000% prefer this over a bigger visual jump at 40-60fps and upscaled 720p-900p like most UE5 games

Nonsense. No one asked for raytracing at all costs but this game is an huge empty land; a raytracing mode wouldn't require such massive work even for base ps5. Simply Kojima studio just spit out bullshitness idiocy with his snob minimum hardware upgrade comment meanwhile they haven't considered to update the lighting with modern rendering.

Its not nonsense. This isn't the only game that looks underwhelming due to the ridiculous push for 60fps on console. They are OK with pushing out last gen looking crap, as long as its 60fps, because that's apparently what gamers want. Anything else gets crucified

Ubisoft games use modern tech rendering no one crucified them. 60 fps not force dated underwhelming tech.

Looks amazing. The first game already was unbelievable and this is a clear leap over that. Without RT bullshit where games end up looking worse than their predecessors.
