I was just reading the Sally Field thread and got to thinking. In the five Spider-Man movies we've had the following villains:

Green Goblin
Doctor Octopus
Venom
Sandman
Hobgoblin
The Lizard
Electro
Rhino

And possibly more I'm forgetting. Looking at Spidey's rogues gallery, I think both Mysterio and the Chameleon are ripe for adaptation.

I think he'd be the perfect "first movie" type of villain. Save the big guns like Green Goblin, Doc Ock, Kraven, or Venom for sequels.

I think the opening of the movie (Spidey's origin is overdone, no need to do it at this point) should be him fighting the Shocker and ridiculing him mercilessly. Something funny to set the tone.

Classic Doc Ock. Alfred Molina's take was not Doc Ock. It was Curt Connors/The Lizard with a Doc Ock re-skin. Comics Ock is Peter's greatest yin/yang villain. The person Peter was going to become if Uncle Ben hadn't died.

Basically, I want classic versions of all the villains, but if it's someone new, I want Mysterio or Scorpion. Smythe would be great too, as well as Shocker.

What enterprise? The one from Daredevil that crumbled within five minutes due to a single confession? Let the Kingpin rebuild in Daredevil first.
