What villain would you like to see in the Marvel-produced Spider-man movie?

Talking about the symbiotes, I can't believe Slayven forgot Anti-Venom...

ReeAhCm.jpg

More likely, he wishes he forgot Anti-Venom...

I didn't forget, AntiVenom is like a hot chick that steals from you. Fun for a while, but then you start hating yourself for sinking so low.

  • 1st Movie - Freshman Year: Mysterio; Have it be revealed that Mysterio was stealing tech for Tombstone. On top of that, have Kingpin show up as well to set up the crime organizations in New York (include a shout-out to Hell's Kitchen & Harlem) as well as Hammerhead (working for either Tombstone or Kingpin). Introduce Eddie Brock as a life-long friend of Peter's & save their falling-out for a movie or two before they have him become Venom (preferably a movie before Pete gets the symbiote).
  • 2nd Movie - Sophomore Year: Molten Man; take the Spectacular Spider-Man route & have Liz's step-bro (or actual bro) get his powers from Oscorp (funded by either Tombstone or Kingpin) to pay off his gambling debt. Set up Silvermane as someone who's getting out of jail in the near future.
  • 3rd Movie - Junior Year: Doctor Octopus; Have this movie set Doc Ock up as a new player in the crime circle of New York with most of the super-villains of New York (maybe include Vulture as well). Maybe give some more development for Kingpin's role in New York's crime, as well as more character development for Hammerhead (showing him starting to have grander plans of his own), & end the movie off with Silvermane finally getting out of jail.
  • 4th Movie - Senior Year: Silver Sable; full-on gang war between Kingpin, Tombstone, Doc Ock, & Silvermane (with Hammerhead's betrayal sparking the war). Have Green Goblin (Norman Osborn) emerge to scoop up what's left of the other three's organizations, but only do the Green Goblin tease if Marvel & Sony plan on continuing Peter's story with future sequels.
I want the super-villains to be handled like they were on Spectacular Spider-Man, as distractions for Spidey to divert his attention away from what's really going on in the criminal underworld. Should Marvel & Sony continue with Spider-Man going into college, Green Goblin can shake things up by taking the offensive & going for Spidey directly.

Ever since Venom appeared in Spider-Man 3, I've been hoping Carnage would show up. My vote is for Carnage or Venom, preferably Carnage AND Venom.

Please, no symbiotes. Venom and his ilk should not come into play yet.

I still stand that Black Tarantula would be a good pick. Maybe some other lower-tier villains like Shocker and Boomerang would make for nice little one-and-done quick shots.

lol you expect Venom/Carnage from the start? Nooooope. That's like... a third movie thing.
And this is why so many years later we have yet to see a good depiction of Venom on the big screen in any shape or form.

The first movie needs to be about Venom, not the third. Who knows if the new Spidey will even make it that far lol.

Doc Ock was always my favorite. But he already got a strong showing in Spider-Man 2 though so it's cool if they wanna pass him over. Kraven could be a cool villain that's not already been done.

I think any villain would work as long as they steer clear of the cookie cutter formula that seems to follow the Villains in these movies and giant McGuffin devices that have to be stopped.

I think it would be a much better story is you had the villain in a more minor role and focused on someone like Black Cat. Having a story about their relationship and about her becoming more of a hero with Spiderman's help sounds much more interesting. Some character to antagonize Spidey early with their own arc who he can team up with later against the Villain.

Overall, I have not loved the villains and their stories in the Spiderman movies and I would like to see them expand with another Spidy-verse character who isn't just a Villain.

To my knowledge: Savage Lands themselves along with Ka-Zar/Shanna and Devil Dinosaur belong to Marvel, but the mutant-related characters such as Sauron belong to FOX. That said, Marvel has a secondary dinosaur-related villain tied to the Savage Land in Stegron, so it's not a big deal.
I was just curious if Sauron counted as part of the Savage Land or as a mutant. Good to know Mahvel has Devil Dinosaur. I need my Cap/Devil tag team
I wasn't making an assumption about what you think of the Joker, but I thought TDK Joker was a good touchstone of a similar villain that gets lots of praise. The consensus is pretty much that it was a good villain, even if people debate whether it was a good Joker, it's hard to deny how the Joker really tied that film together and Havey was the one with the development while Joker mainly remained a mystery. They could have a similar outline as TDK but instead of Joker driving Harvey to turn evil, Venom could be bad and Carnage turns him to a hero.

It's not like I'm really a fan of Venom or Carnage (except enjoying the idea and stories as a kid) but I think it could be done.
TDK Joker (and most other portrayals) are good because they get people who are charismatic as fuck. Carnage would have to do the same thing.
Lol SPiderman could be European royalty, SS is thirsty as fuck for the Spider D
Didn't her and Logan get it on once?

Mysterio.

Although to be honest I don't think they'd portray him like the comics(with the fishbowl) and that would probably turn me off somewhat.

But he'd be an awesome villain.

Oh and one villain only. Anytime they pull a SM3 and try to shove as many adversaries for Spidey as they can it just ruins it.

I'll take one well developed villain over several half ass ones.

Kingpin would be great, just start small and grow from there.

Also, shame that a lot of the villains were already done but hopefully Marvel isn't afraid to re-do them and put their stuff in it.

I was bummed they used Lizard is ASM. I've long thought you could do a cool story with Pete having to cure his friend who has turned into a mindless monster while also having to defend him against Kraven, who has come to hunt Conners.

I didn't hate the version of Lizard we got but I'm not real big on takes where he still has human qualities. And ultimately I on't think Lizard should be a headline villain.

I'd love to see Venom get another shot but fear he's a bit toxic still. Fuck all this stand alone movie noise Sony is making. Maybe give the symbiote the Ultimate origin where it's a biological creation.

Not Venom. They need to build up to Venom properly and for real with the black costume, preferably after Secret Wars in Phase 4.

Mysterio has possibilities, but after the Civil War story it seems the idea of Kraven being a superhero hunter of some kind would make sense and be thematically relevant to the overall MCU.

Mads is already in Doctor Strange, and beyond that they have to reserve him to play Doctor Doom when they get the rights back.

God damn, Mads as Dr. Doom would be amazing as well. Fuck. Just cast him in all the movies. I don't care. I'll accept him as being all of the villains, because, why not? He's an amazing actor. I know he's in Dr. Strange, but I was hoping he'd be in some kind of makeup, so we won't know that it's Mads.

EDIT: I always thought Kraven and the Lizard would be a good team up for a solo Spidey movie. Kraven gets wind of a man like Lizard prowling New York, and he sets out to hunt him, as Kraven does. When he gets to New York, he learns about the amazing Spider-Man, and how formidable he is, and decides he will hunt Spider-Man as well. Meanwhile, Peter is trying to help Dr. Connors stop turning into the Lizard, stop Kraven, and keep Kraven from killing Dr. Connors. But of course, the Lizard is being an ass about it all, fighting Spider-Man. The final climactic battle at the end of the movie would be a three way fight between Spidey, Kraven, and the Lizard, with Spidey trying to administer the antidote to Connors, while dodging and countering Kraven's attempts to kill them both. No damseled Mary Jane/Gwen, no city destroying stakes, just Spider-Man trying to help someone he respects (Dr. Connors), and stopping a madman. Would be a great first MCU solo Spidey flick.

I dunno about the first movie, but Spider-Man 2 takes place after Infinity War, so introduce the symbiote in Infinity War Part 2, have black suit spidey in the second film, and have Venom in the third.

Then get the FF4 rights back from Fox and have Spider-Man join them in the fourth movie.

Is it really worth the trouble to make another Fantastic Four movie?

The F4 are the foundation of the Marvel Universe. They are Stan Lee and Jack Kirby's babies.

Yeah, but there exactly hasn't been a good track record of films based off of those characters. I mean, I would be fine if the F4 made cameos in the Marvel movies (specifically Mr. Fantastic shooting the shit with Tony on theoretical physics, most of which just flies over his head), but I'm not bothered if they make yet another film of questionable quality. :/

Not the IP's fault.

Oh man, I could totally see them doing that now.

Dunno if that'll be the case though, since Sony is planning on going through with the Venom spin-off. Who knows how much they're coordinating with Marvel there.

If Sony was smart, they'd be coordinating with Marvel and holding off on the spin-off for the time being since a properly set up black suit Spider-Man in Infinity War -> Venom/Carnage in Spider-Man sequel -> Venom Lethal Protector spin-off or whatever would get fans way more excited and make way more money for everyone than rushing out some spin-off to capitalize on the buzz of the franchise rather than the interest of the character.

Hopefully, the reason we are hearing about it now is because they are going to start filming Infinity War next year so Marvel and Sony have already talked about the idea and the potential of the characters and Sony is just so excited that they are jumping ahead to the next step. I could definitely see both parties wanting to get Spider-Man in Infinity War with all the positive buzz so far, so hopefully this is the direction they want to go.

I remember way back when I first found out they were doing a Spider-Man movie, I wanted:

Film 1:
Junior year of high school, Pete meets Gwen. No central villain, just Pete dealing with his double-life, at most he'd stop a heist by Shocker, Mysterio or someone similar. Connors is a college teacher that Pete meets/befriends on a field trip. Norman Osborn takes an interest in Spidey and starts experimenting.

Film 2:
Senior year; Pete's in a relationship with Gwen and is an intern at the Bugle where he meets JJ, and Brock, who is in college and starts getting jealous of high-schooler Pete getting praise. Lizard and Kraven are the villains; Lizard stalks the city and Kraven comes to town to hunt it, Pete has to protect/treat Connors while battling both. Osborn learns Pete is Spider-Man.

Film 3:
Pete's 1-2 years into college, still with Gwen and working freelance at the Bugle. Villain is Green Goblin, who psychologically torments Pete with the fact that someone knows his secret and attacks the public when he knows Peter is present to try and "out" him. Gobby snatches Gwen and that whole thing happens. Norman is killed.

Film 4:
DARKNESS! NO GIRLFRIEND!

But seriously, introduction of the symbiote through whatever means. Pete's struggling through college over the loss of Gwen, the symbiote feeds off his despair and amplifies all of his negative feelings. Adapted from Kraven's Last Hunt; Kraven returns to hunt and kill the Spider that beat him. The symbiote has many effects on Peter: as Pete, he humiliates Brock, pushes away Harry, etc.; as Spidey, he is increasingly violent to criminals, breaking bones and putting them in the hospital. Despite all that Kraven engages Spidey and Spidey nearly beats Kraven to death, when Pete realizes what he's doing he pauses and Kraven shoots Spidey through the heart. Thinking he's killed him, Kraven buries Spider-Man and kills himself. The symbiote kept Peter alive and when he awakes days later, he rids himself of the symbiote which finds its way to Brock. Right before the credits roll, MJ appears and, "Face it Tiger, you just hit the jackpot!"

Film 5:
1 year later. Pete graduates college and is dating MJ. Main villain -- or rather, anti-hero -- is Venom, who also fights crime, to prove that he's better than Spider-Man in every way. Every crime-stopping attempt by Spidey would be crashed by Venom and vice-versa. Pete's never fought an opponent that knows all his moves/tricks and can bypass his spidersense, the only way he wins is by using his smarts.

Film 6:
Sinister Six time, bitches!

5 of them can be whomever, but Carnage has to be one of them. Whatever the make-up of the 5+Carnage, it's too much for Spidey to handle alone. He fights them once and barely escapes with his life. Pete knows they won't stop coming for him so he goes to a certain someone for help, someone who happens to have a pretty good reason to stop them (one of them, at least), Venom. Final fight is Spidey + Venom vs. Carnage + 5 -- I'd want; Doc Ock, Hobgoblin, Scorpion, Rhino, Electro.

Film would end with Peter and MJ getting married, and Harry learning the truth about Spider-Man and his father. DUN DUN DUN!!!!

Ahh, I had such high hopes...

To properly set up Anti-Venom you need like 5 movies ... not worth it

Symbiote gets Spidey; Spidey gets rid of Symbiote and it attaches to Eddie Brock; Eddie Brock becomes Venom; Eddie Brock finds out Symbiote had a baby and it attached to Cletus Kassady which creates Carnage and Venom and Spidey team up to stop Carnage; Eddie loses Symbiote which attaches to Mac Gargan or Flash Thompson (skipping Gargan is ideal because he sucks); Eddie's body then produces Symbiote-antibodies that act like the Venom Symbiote giving him powers and the urge to kill the Venom Symbiote (this would also work best with Flash because then Brock becomes a villain to kill a villain that is technically now a hero).

...Yeah it's not worth it.
