Meh. I played Futuridium when it was free on PS+ and found it pretty dull. Guess that's another one I'll be skipping then.

Agreed, Futuridium is average at best. I'm a bit surprised it was selected. I think there are many games way more deserving of a physical release.
Just the first that come to mind:

Spelunky
Axiom Verge
Binding of Isaac
Guacamelee!
TxK
La-Mulana EX
Crypt of the NecroDancer
Rogue Legacy
Resogun
Super Meat Boy
Nuclear Throne
Galak-Z
SteamWorld Dig

I bought Limited Run Games' first two releases to show support, but that doesn't mean I'll continue to purchase anything they release from now on no matter if it's good or bad. My collection is too large to further clutter it with average games.

They don't "select" anything. The developers themselves decide to release their games via LRG.

Lots of good titles in your list but it's kind of meaningless for what you're asking.

Oh, I thought it was the other way around. Still, LRG are the ones who actually publish the games, so it's their decision which game to release next.

Yeah but they can only select from the ones that have signed and are ready. And the Futuridium guys apparently were the fastest.

They're not sitting on a mountain of games ready to go and pick whatever they want.

They don't do it by popularity or prestige. It's almost 100% decided by publishers/developers who are interested in participating and put their games forward, either after being solicited or proactive about it.

Personally, I think the excited devs who don't turn their noses up deserve it vs the ones who have to be begged and still say no. Being a Vita fan for so many years has made me really value down to earth, straight up people and honest support.

I don't know if anyone brought this up yet, but are you taking into consideration the ID of the game between regions? If EU and US have different IDs on the store and someone from Europe imports the physical copy after having played the digital version the save file won't be compatible/transferable. Also, I'm not completely sure if the ID is relevant here, but what about the trophies? Will they use the same "slot"?

LRG, how about that upcoming "Toejam & Earl"?

I've been wishing for a physical edition of that one right when it was revealed/ kickstarted.

Possible? Or not?

Breach and Clear are the same as the digital version.

Not too keen on double dipping for Futuridium, but I'd appreciate a patch that fixes the bugs and the performance. (I actually liked the game a lot).

Couldn't agree more. I'm willing to support anyone that is willing to put their game out physically on the vita. If they are willing to support my favorite underdog system, it's the least I can do in return. Greatness is often born of humble beginnings...kind of makes me think of stuff from crystal dynamics and naughty dog on the 3do when I talk like that...

I'm going to assume 99% of the games will be just the US versions.

It would be nice to see a physical release of Shadow Complex Remastered. Not sure when the PS4 version is out, but hopefully this could be a game for Limited Run Games.

I'm also not one of the people who is going to say that I love futuridium etc, in fact if it was a normal release I'll pass since I don't like the type of game and it doesn't appeal me, however I'll buy it because I want to support them in every release because I love their attitude and they deserve every sale and want more and more games, they are always listening to feedback etc also and are nice people who are also going to release awesome games like oddworld and cosmic star heroine and many more to come for sure.

Apparently there's going to be a non-LRG, physical PS4 release of Olli Olli 1 & 2:

http://www.playstationlifestyle.net/2016/03/11/ps4-physical-releases-announced-olliolli-dex-zenith-anima-heartslash/

OlliOlli Epic Combo Edition offers two sick skateboarding games in one totally tubular package! The (cough – BAFTA award winning) original OlliOlli and OlliOlli 2: Welcome to Olliwood are being sold together for the first time. Included are 3 making-of documentaries, the OlliOlli 2 soundtrack, and an exclusive studio booklet, that are sure to make collectors’ hearts hardflip.

No Vita release from them, and since they're doing it elsewhere, that probably means it can't be done through someone else like LRG. Just another example of why I appreciate the devs who support, and their games.

It's not a matter of gratitude, but that coming from a company that got their recognition because of the Vita is heartbreaking.

Pretty hilarious to see a company go from loving Vita to ditching it so rapidly. First Not a Hero cancelled; now physical-only on PS4.

Sigh. Oh well.

Yea I completely agree with this. OlliOlli 1 was going to be a mobile game until they met with Shahid who was at PlayStation at the time and then it became a Vita game etc.

Sucks for sure.

This is a great list! I kind of hope most of these get a physical release but not necessarily from LRG (just, in general). I like the idea of physical releases because that is my preferred console gaming format. However, I don't want to have to get up in the middle of the night or permanently have a tab/thread open to monitor if a game I like is hitting a physical release.

Note: I'm not bagging on people that like the limited aspect and I'm certainly not bagging on a company that is providing us with more physical releases. Go LRG!

Super meat boy is getting one by merge but that price though - http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B01AVZIAY6/

Don't think TxK will happen given the hell that game went through with Atari I believe.

There already is a physical release of the La-Mulana remake (or there will be). One of the kickstarter/backers rewards for La-Mulana 2 and is still kinda available to 'buy'.

It's not the Vita version, of course...

Douglas has been in Tokyo for a while and is finally back tomorrow so expect a bit more activity from us here. :)

He actually held two impromptu meetings for LRG while there. We never rest from trying to secure physical releases for you all!

Lots of meetings going down at GDC this week and a few announcements will probably slip out soon. Keep your eyes peeled!

On a different note, manufacturing has begun on Oddworld! It's finally coming!

My guess is that the publisher didn't want to foot the bill for the Vita version. The developer probably would have been all in for a physical Vita cart.

For reference, it's 4x more expensive to produce Vita carts than PS4 discs (if you only order the minimum quantities). If your game is 2GB+ or costs $34.99+, the cost can jump to 6x or higher vs PS4. Most sane publishers would look at the costs vs profits and back away slowly.

Due to that we're probably going to be the only publisher doing small Vita runs. We're happy to be doing this because we're not driven by profits.

That's some incredibly interesting yet disappointing information, lol.

And I can't stop saying how much I love and appreciate your work guys :) . I will try to support you in every game whether i like it(like oddword, saturday morning or cosmic star heroine) or not(futuridium). Starving for those announcements, the only problem is my wallet seeing all the games you've in store for us.
On a side note what the hell sony with the cartridges of vita?Seriously? That's a very high barrier to jump for publishers.

I always knew that it was more expensive, but 4-6x? I wonder if the 3DS carts are cheaper, even if there is 8GB 3ds cart out there.

Just like Vita memory cards vs standard SD cards, Vita game carts aren't a format as mass produced as BDs so it's not surprising they're more expensive.

Edit: Oh, Volume is getting a Vita release? I might pick it up.

Should be coming out in the next few months. Premium foil cover with a nice manual!

Oh my.

Full color manual and everything? Will that increase the price? (for the record -- I will happily start paying $30 for these releases for premium packaging and premium manuals as well as other little extras, but I may not be the majority).

Mike announced on the show that a PS4 version will happen if he's happy with how this one plays out. Keep in mind that Mike is still working on Volume for PS4 so waiting will ultimately be beneficial and it will allow him to release a complete package.
