It's not about the action scenes. It's about the look, feel, and actual characterization aspect of the character.
I hate that Vaughn didn't keep going with the series. I liked Days of Future Past but I loved First Class, even with its horrible special effects.

It wouldn't change much. As far as new director, why? The last one was superb. It's not like another director would come in and make something far better. Singer doesn't exactly have a bad track record with the series so far. Could this be his first dud? I guess anything could happen, but are we talking as though his work hasn't been exceptional thus far?

Big X-Men fan, but that looked... rather bad.
I really just don't get it. They have a huge amount of killer stories and decades of character development in the comics, but they somehow manage to botch even the basic concepts of certain characters. Let's take Magneto, for instance. Erik here would never be a Horseman of Apocalypse. He's entirely too headstrong and believes what he is doing is right, and very rarely follows others unless he implicitly trusts them and their vision. I don't see him ever following that fool Apocalypse.
Now, I haven't seem the movie, but Apocalypse has always been a rather disappointing villain in the grand scheme of things. Hell, even Mr. Sinister ends up being way more of a threat and way more bad ass than anything Apocalypse is known for. They also couldn't make En Sabah Nur look half way decent for the movie.
The visual effects look like green screen overkill. Finally, why use a really bad Coldplay cover for this trailer? Couldn't find better music?

I just don't think jumping into Apocalypse after 2 movies is the way to do it.
He's the Thanos of the X-Men, you can't just bust him out without a shitload of lead-up and stuff. His horsemen aren't even turned mutants it's just a bunch of rando's that nobody has even seen yet.

I'm not sure what people really expected from Apocalypse. I don't think the character will ever not look goofy on the big screen.
