Dear God, please tell me that isn't the only reason.

You knew that was a lie from the start. That doesn't even look like Olivia Munn, it looks like her stunt double. If you pause during the fight scene in the trailer, it's clearly not her either.
So much for "I do my own stunts", lol.
I don't like they turned Mystqiue into a fangirl that doesn't know what to do with herself until she is told.
Mystqiue in comics is a fucking boss, does what she want when she wants and dares anyone to fuck with her.
Only reason she should be fucking with Xavier and Magneto is they either got a gun to her head or they cutting her a fat check.

She said like, 3 words and was some kind of lizard? I guess? Terrible. J-Law makes a fine early Mystique. It's just that Mystique shouldn't be a founding goddamn member of the X-Men!
She sells her own kids on the regular.

It looks ok I guess. Superhero movies are starting to seem pretty cookie cutter unless they really branch out. Suicide Squad, Batman vs. Superman, even Captain America: Civil War are all starting to move beyond "OMG EVIL VILLAN WE HAVE TO UNITE!" plot lines.
Hoping it will be good, but will probably be a rental (which is honestly 90% of my movies anyway, only the killer ones get a theater viewing).
I get the complaints about the Mystique character. People claiming Rebecca Romijn was good or better than Lawrence? Give me a fucking break.

Money.Looks great and bad all at once. J-Law is just the worst actress in that role, why is she the apparent lead?

Not really feeling it. Can't pinpoint exactly why either
The X-Men must be the most wasted potential superhero movie franchise of all-time. Like its amazing to me that we live in a world where Tony Stark is more popular than Wolverine. That shit was everything back in the 90s, you couldn't escape it. Now its movies come out and there's a collective shrug. "Eh, I guess I see it :/"
Like fuck man...how did Fox let this happen
Dear God, please tell me that isn't the only reason.
But that is like, the exact premise of BvS and probably Civil War

What a cop out.
Well in the same world Fox have made Deadpool a household name and at this rate will be as popular as Iron man
Deadpool already had internet memery status though.
First class is the best "X-Men" movie there is. It was fun and had some light hearted moments here and there. Every other X-Men movie is pure doom and gloom. I get it..they're mutants and people want to commit genocide, but in the comics there are breaks.
Yes because arguing with you all day about why I hate these X-Men movies with their terrible writing, soulless characters( most thrown in simply to please fans but serve no actual point), and absolutely atrocious costume designs would get us somewhere. You like the movies. Good for you. I hate them and would like to see a fresh start in a new direction.

And when you look at what they have to work with it is almost criminal at how badly they waste it.
They literally have the perfect IP to turn the superhero movie genre on it's head and to talk about serious, actual issues like the book used to do. I mean hell there's no better time than right now to make an allegory about a marginalized, segregated and castigated minority.
Instead it's become Hugh Jackman's personal hype machine.

Man, some of the negativity a few posters manage to muster up for these threads ... Can't say I understand it.
We're talking about what used to be the biggest comic book pop culture phenomenon ever. How are these 6/10 movies the best they come up with? How did they manage to NOT tap directly into that vein of Claremont's X-Men run from the 80s? That's crazy to me.
Literally every X-Men movie has dealt with this with the exception of the Wolverine films and DeadpoolThey literally have the perfect IP to turn the superhero movie genre on it's head and to talk about serious, actual issues like the book used to do.I mean hell there's no better time than right now to make an allegory about a marginalized, segregated and castigated minority.
