Do custom cfg file customizations not work with 2.2.2? I'm using the one recommended here and when I launch the game it defaults it back to the one line cfg file.

They work, just do not ever use any of these:
; Adding The Lines of Code below can fix a lot of crashes & increase frame rates if set correctly. They all effect your CPU usage & threads. If you are not having crashes or stability issues I would not include them in your USER.cfg as they can also cause a lot of issues too, include some of them if you have reason to. These are NOT PTU friendly.

; Enables navigation information updates on a separate thread 0 - off & 1 - on
ai_NavigationSystemMT = 1

; Enable particle threading
e_ParticlesThread = 1

; Use a thread to perform sub-objects meshes merging
e_StatObjMergeUseThread = 1

; Enables threaded rendering while loading
gfx_loadtimethread = 1

; The number of internal physics threads
p_num_threads = 1

; Enable the JobSystem. 0: The Jobsystem is disabled, each job is executed in its invoking thread. 1: The JobSystem is enabled, each job is invoked in one of the worker threads.
sys_job_system_enable = 0

; The Following Options Choose which Thread to run processes on, you can experiment & I would only use them to fix crashes / performance if you know what you are doing.
; Specifies the physical CPU index main will run on
sys_main_CPU = 0

; Specifies the physical CPU index physics will run on. A Stable Settings is half the Physical Cores of your Processor. On my i7 4790k I change this to 2.
sys_physics_CPU = 2

; Specifies the physical CPU file IO thread run on. A Stable Settings is the Number of Physical Cores of your Processor. On my i7 4790k I change this to 4.
sys_streaming_CPU = 4

; If you have a Multi-Threaded CPU Set this to 1, if you don't or you want to turn Multi Threads off Set to 0. *Delete if not appropriate
r_MultiThreaded = 1

; Multi GPU Settings - These are for fiddling with you GPUs, don't include if you don't need them for some reason!
; If you want to turn ON the ability to try and use multiple GPU then set to 1, there are load of bugs and issues with this that can occur.
r_MultiGPU = 0

; Sets what GPU calculates the physics, Recommended to set to 1 (or whatever card you want to have as a dedicated physics card) if you have 2 or more Cards.
sys_physics_GPU = 0

The above are wholly disrecommended and break the game's threading.

Is there any indication of when you're ship is taking hits? The only indicator I've noticed so far is when I'm getting targeted with a missile.

Thanks, I'll have to try again when I get back home.

What's faster for turning in a dogfight? Coming from Elite: Dangerous, I trained myself to slow down when taking a turn in order to complete the turn faster.

I can't tell if the brake is actually helping me turn faster in this game. Does using boost have an effect on turn speed?

I think of it less as "turning" and more as "altering trajectory." Boost is critical in doing so quickly. Yaw is the same at any speed, but the faster you're going the longer it takes for your trajectory to adjust.

Did you mean to say, "the faster you're going the shorter it takes for your trajectory to adjust"? Or am I not understanding something?

No. He means exactly what he said. You can turn as you like but your IFCS will have to compensate the thrust to adjust your motion vector to the new direction you're pointing in.

Note the ship UI element denoted by the rounded square with the arrow pointing up. That is your motion vector indicator. It tells you what direction your ship is moving in in relation to the direction your view (in other words the front) is pointing in, if it drifts off from center then that indicates lateral movement.

This means practically, the faster you go, the more the ship will drift in the direction you were previously pointing in.

Naw man, physics! The faster you're going, the more difficult it is/the longer it takes for your IFCS to get you going in another direction.

Okay, that's what I understood from turning quicker in Elite: Dangerous. I would push my throttle to 50% and then leaving the turn I'd boost and bring back throttle to 100%.

In you're original comment you mentioned that boost is critical. Should I be implementing the same tactics I was in Elite: Dangerous?

In essence, engage the Newtonian brake at the beginning of the turn and then boost my way out of it?

Yes, that sounds pretty much like what I do. There are certainly circumstances where you wouldn't want to slow down though.

Looks like PTU 2.2.3 has gone up. Memory leak and infinite loading bugs fixed.

Looks like it will be a new Vanuduul ship going up for sale tomorrow according to ATV today.

Possibly the Vanuduul Blade.

I backed this game a few months ago for the upcoming single player campaign. But flew around with my friend in some coop ships. Was floored (when the game worked). But encountered so many bugs. I fell out of the ship into deep space multiple times

I also spun around in circles sometimes when I tried to get on my friend's ship

Never regretted my purchase though for the $45 pack. When this game works, its truly amazing.

Tried out the Aegis Sabre tonight in coop Vanduul Swarm and had a blast. Sad to see it's not available to purchase to play with after Free Fly. What do you guys think the chances are for it to come back?

How does the Gladius compare to it?

I have a melted Sabre I believe I can rebuy. So if you were looking to just straight up buy one I could probably do that for you (at cost I mean). I ended up buying a cheap archimedes with LTI from a guy on Reddit at cost and upgrading that to an LTI sabre when it was available again a while back.

Oh, that'd be cool. How much does a Sabre cost?

Still don't think they should make selling replica Vanduul ships a thing. Something should be left as only acquirable in game, and the Vanduul are the best opportunity for that. Oh well, at least it fulfills the "not interested" part I was hoping for with a new concept. =P

I have a Redeemer and Vanguard hanging out so I used some of the $0 CCU magic to try out a blade when it become flyable. Now I just need to buy back my Hull B so I can use my CCU upgrades path to a Carrack. Whenever it becomes flyable....

I could do a $0 CCU, but I'm not a huge fan of Vanduul styling. They look good for what they are, but stylistically, they're just not my thing. If I ever have a Vanduul ship, it's going to be a real one that I hauled the original Vanduul corpse out of. =) Even then it'll just sit in a trophy hangar.

With it having LTI on it could be good for anyone in the Org that wants LTI on a Aquila, Warden, or Redeemer as well. Not that it will be a huge deal but for $0 might as well take advantage of it.

Cool, some ship porn to come home to.

Really looking forward to the beast showing up in the hangar. Well, assuming they're not dicks and don't leave those of us with the Gemini version hanging.

Yeah, Starfarer owners are going to be pleased I think. As they just said, a solid ship for the price. The metal finish on the outside looks nice (same as the Freelancer I think).
