Uncharted 4 has gone gold

I need this so bad, wish it were coming out sooner so I could enjoy more of the multiplayer and maybe an additional playthrough or two before I ship off to basic, but, such is life.

The game is gold, but won't launch for almost another two months? What the fuck?

Still, looking forward to playing this.

All good things must come to an end.. Sad that this (probably) will be the end of Uncharted series.. But very excited at the same time!

Thank you Naughty Dog.

The first video game I ever beat was Pitfall on the Atari 2600. It literally took me months and I am still pissed off I never got the patch Activision promised if you sent in a Polaroid of the end game.

However it is very safe to say it was Pitfall that my love for videogames took birth. I never stopped playing.

Exactly 25 years later Naughty Dog released Uncharted Drake's Fortune.

What it meant to me was the perfect representation of everything I ever enjoyed about video games in their latest most modern form. A true culmination of a medium. Everything I enjoyed from that medium thus far combined into one spectacular package.

Needless to say, it has been one of, if not my favorite, videogame series ever.

Cannot wait to finalize the ride.

Thank you Naughty Dog. Truly and sincerely.

if it went gold yesterday then couldn't it have still been released at the end of April?...the 2 week delay into May seems unnecessary...

As you know, Naughty Dog is wrapping up production on Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End with the game on track to go gold and into production later this month. In an effort to meet the considerable worldwide demand, and to ensure that all gamers worldwide have the opportunity to play the game on day one, we have chosen to postpone the launch of the game by two weeks to allow for extra manufacturing time.

Therefore, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End has a new worldwide release date of May 10, 2016.

We know this news might be disappointing, and we are sorry to have to make you wait a little longer to play Naughty Dog’s latest. The good news is that the game is phenomenal — we are fully confident that it will be worth the wait and the team at Naughty Dog is eager as ever for you to experience Nathan Drake’s final adventure.

Sony wants the meaningless bragging rights to say to say things like "worlds biggest SCE opening...blah...blah..."

And so we suffer.

The delay for manufacturing really just suggests to me that preorders/demand for the title must be significantly higher then Sony expected (like it does to many others I'm sure).

That makes sense really given a collection launched last year to bring in many new fans and the PS4 is in an extremely dominant position worldwide. Especially now in NA even more so after the 3 million it sold in Nov/Dec of last year.

It could just be that the demand really wasn't anticipated to the levels they currently are at if the last time Sony measured it was a year ago for the fall launch as opposed to the current date. Though I admit I have no idea how any of that stuff actually works.

Id assume at the least that they are tracking preorders to some degree and those have seen spikes to coincide with the trailers, perhaps to a much larger degree then they believe the initial shipment could account for. Perhaps part of it was the anticipated interest after the open beta for the MP which was largely met with tons of praise. Lots of factors really and while I'm super interested to play the game, the sales geek in me is also equally excited to see how it sells as NDs last UC game and first title post TLOU acclaim.

TL;dr: 2.5 million opening in Japan for the Vita version. Book it.

yeah that 'extra manufacturing time' excuse sounds bogus...those extra 2 weeks aren't going to make any difference if the game went gold on March 17th

It gives them time to get the marketing and sales groundwork time to swell.

I mean, UC4 had not yet have any hands-on by the press yet. This was not a game where ND had any spare time to polish a press demo before the game goes gold.

Basically we can blame Sony for this and not ND. =P

Thinking of which game I should delete to accommodate this, or to upgrade my hard drive? Hmm...

Ha this cracked me up big time for some reason.

I have a feeling there will be some "controversy" with this game before it releases. There's always one for PS games but usually its manufactured. Like some 5k+ thread.

There was already the Assassin's Creed concept art thing.

When the black dude playing the white guy turns out to be a character who ends up dying first is finally revealed.

Unless that controversy already happened.
