Batman v Superman Spoiler Thread: Don't believe everything you read, Son

Martha knows his secret, and Martha's not going to be content to mourn her son being one of thousands in a crowd lighting candles at a monolithic monument to the Man of Steel. She's going to bury her only son next to his father.

I'll wait for the movie, but the only people that should be there are Bruce, Diana, Martha, Lois, maybe a few others. I'm sure it'll be lowkey.

I'm also hoping that with Superman's "death" is used as the catalyst for building the Justice League. I'm assuming Bruce thinks he's truly dead but let down because he knows Clark is a good man. So he wants to get the other heroes together to stop any outside threat as a way to honor him so to speak.

based on the description, the private service in Smallville seems to be solely attended by these people:

Bruce
Diana
Lois
Martha.

Also, it's amazing that all this time, almost 20 years since the first time Warner Brothers tried to bring Superman back to life by killing him onscreen

200

They finally fucking did it.

By virtue of not obliterating him with his heat vision the second he shows up Superman let's him win.

Nah. That's not "letting Bruce win." They wrote and made a movie where Batman beats Superman. Superman didn't want to kill him, yeah. Superman also didn't want to die at his hand, and according to this synopsis, that was going to happen until Lois saved him from that fate.

Doesn't sound like Superman lets him win at all.

Well we dont know the exact dialogues during the fight. I mean stuff like ' If I wanted it you would be dead already' for example clearly indicates he is holding back. Maybe there is more stuff like that.

Batman was right

Would it be plausible that it's so low key that nobody else even knows he's dead?

That post said that the last scene shows his grave and the heartbeat. Why are people saying another movie will deal with his resurrection? He's just gonna pop out of the grave and that's it. Nothing to show or deal with

Just reminds me, Batman winning...AngryJoe will rip this to pieces. Or he'll get a heart attack in the theater when seeing it, poor Superman fans.

I'm betting Justice League is fucking with Brainiac. Because now you have to introduce Eradicator, right?

I feel like if they simply have him pop out of the grave under his own power people are going to find his death to be even cheaper. There'll need to be some sort of mechanism in place to explain his resurrecting like Jesus. Maybe they'll retrofit some sort of eradicator-esque function into the fact he's got the codex inside him.

Batman is a dick in not solo comics. I'm starting to resent him and he's my favorite literary character lol.

A MoS sequel doing the reign of the Supermen would be great, but It's not happening. I want to see how Terrio will write his resurrection I'm sure he has a plan.

Interesting. I just want to see Hank Henshaw on screen.

Henry playing Superman and also chewing up scenery as evil cyborg Superman seems like a great idea in my head

Reign of the Supermen was such a fun storyline. I wouldn't mind them taking some riffs on that, with a cyborg superman or eradicator impostor (both created by Braniac) while the real Superman recovers. Just no mullets and Superman with laser guns please.

Superman makes his trumphant return by obliterating Cyborg Superman who's beating down on the league with Brainiac during the climax. I'd buy that :P. Fortunately we only have a year and some wait for JL instead of 3 years.

Why would Clark refer to his mother as
'Martha'? That seems awfully contrived.
Imagine some crazy ass motherfucker was holding a spear to your chest because he hates you, you're going to say you have a mother - who's already in ticking danger- he can kill too?

You're not gonna see Superman's resurrection on-screen; it's hinted at the end of BvS, and that's it.

Instead they're gonna do a riff on Kingdom Come in that, a couple of years after BvS and during a pivotal moment of Justice League Part One, audiences will be introduced to one "Jon Clark," bearded and shirtless farmer living off the land in quiet solitude. "Jon" will have to be convinced by one or more members of the League that the world is better off with him in it than not, and he'll return not then but at a moment of great dramatic effect, to singlehandedly turn the tide of battle perhaps.

So they don't say in the movie or no one has leaked the info yet? D:

I really want it to be Jason. :(
It's not said, but there was a leak of a gravestone with Dick's name on it, who knows if we're seeing it on film, or maybe the extended edition when we'll see Barbara too.

I have asked this before but did not get an answer but did anyone read about how the Nightmare sequence is triggered?

Supposedly that was confirmed a long time ago to be a production joke. I've only seen one or two people answer this question but apparently the name of the Robin goes unmentioned in the film.

When he's decrypting Lex' files. Apparently it's very abrupt and it's the only part of the movie that kind of makes no sense. Maybe the DC fixes that, or it's deliberately vague, like recalling mythic visions of the old greek stories.

That's what they're saying, but still, there's just so much mystery, they should just say it's Jason.
Do we know it's Barbara in the extended edition? Or Carrie Kelly?

(I know I'm in the minority here but I really don't care for Carrie Kelly. :/)
Barbara! Apparently lol. No rumblings of her being Carrie at all.

Fuck, that's the most important part for me. Okay I'll have to deal with waiting even longer! Ahhhhh.

I don't really give a shit which Robin it is. I don't see how it matters for this story, or for Justice League.

They can fuck with it in the Batman solo. But it's more or less a background detail, and that's it.

That would make no sense at all. Why would decrypting Lex file trigger a nightmare lol. Yeah either that it is stupid as hell writing or the people who watched that scene did not get it. I was hoping Flash was triggering visions of the future.

I think people are concerned because they'd like to see Nightwing in the solo film or at some point.

That's what it's happening hahaha, Flash triggers the vision at that moment, but how it's unexplained.

I don't give a shit that you don't give a shit that we give a shit, friend. If I don't get a Nightwing solo movie out of this deal, I'm gonna be pissed.

Ahh okay. That is cool then. Why and how Flash triggers it can remain a mystery as long as Flash triggers it :)

Why is Superman saying Martha so bad? It's not unusual for someone to call their parent's their name. Probably even more likely when they found out about their real parents.

And if he said it because he was trying to hide his identity, wouldn't that also be plausible?

Bruce's kids are my favorite characters and for me, the most important part of the Batman stories. It was important enough to put a Robin suit in the trailer so I wouldn't say hearing the name of the dead kid whose costume is on display would be out of the realm of possibilities.

But I also understand why they wouldn't say the name in this movie. I'm just sad that I'll have to wait to find out the status of my favorite characters. And what that means for future movies. Don't think that's too difficult to understand.

Okay, but to consider that the most important aspect of this movie is weird.

Nightwing (and Red Hood) aren't even that cool.
They are to me. Sorry we have different priorities? I'm still excited to see the movie; it's just what I wanted to learn the most about.

Dick Grayson is actually the the coolest version of Batman, friend.

I'm not even disagreeing there. But Dick Grayson as Batman, I like.

Dick Grayson as Nightwing I shrug at.

They are to me. Sorry we have different priorities? I'm still excited to see the movie; it's just what I wanted to learn the most about.

You ain't gotta apologize. It's not like you're somehow wrong for liking what you like the way you like it. I just don't get it, and I don't see how it applies to this movie to anywhere near the level of importance you're placing on it. But that's a "to each their reach" scenario. I'm just saying it ain't mine to grab, personally. I'm betting even if it's something that's addressed in the extended cut, it's addressed nominally, if at all. Because it just doesn't seem important in the least to the story they're trying to tell.

I believe Snyder just told someone on the press tour that they left Joker & Riddler out of the movie for exactly those reasons.

edit: and Suicide Squad is still coming later this year, anyway.

You won't have to wait much! Suicide squad comes in August and I'm sure they won't gloss over that fact.
