Early impressions start rolling out for Batman v. Superman

I think the biggest thing here is that those who weren't really hyped about this and did not like MoS seem to like it. And not meaning fans, but critics. Of course we won't know how much they enjoyed it and how many of them there really are but that is promising for those who are still skeptical. Marc Bernardin for example, Faraci was shitting on this movie from day 1 and even though we haven't heard his thoughts yet he said some pretty positive things recently.

I'll stick to my 65% prediction.

GAFers that have seen the movie already can verify or deny this, but praise for Gal as Wonder Woman is almost certainly related to this. Apparently she's the highlight of the big Doomsday fight, and judging by Faora that's all it would take.
 
Age of Ultron was the best MCU movie ever according to early screenings. That said, I'm sure this will be better than MoS. I feel bad for the Superman fans since their character looks to be reduced to "featuring Superman".

I'd like the movie to be good too, but maybe pump the breaks a bit on the "get ready for your crow GAF" before some reviews that aren't Twitter randos or Mexican newspapers actually come in.
 
I'm glad there's a healthy dose of impressions that make a point to call out Marvel, as if theyre interested in making the same type of movie as DC lol

Really hyped for this but not seeing it until Sunday :<

No we don't, and I'll take the word from a critic, or even our two own gaffers that have seen it and have writen their long detailed impressions over any conjecture.

And Superman doesn't even have red pants.

I will say this much... some interesting forces working on both sides of the aisle.

Yes, it's early reactions from fans who attended a world premiere so slightly skewed, but that doesn't mean it's any less valid.

also unlike some of the others, this had a larger sampling (not many movie theaters house 6k people)

At the same time, and gone on record, it is hard to divorce feelings of the movie from being at the premiere with the cast and crew and getting to feel important.

so to sum it up. These opinions have value, but yeah clearly favored to wanting to like the movie.

As I did.
 
It really sucks for me. I have a screening for it tomorrow night. But it's a hour or so drive away. And I might not have a car.

Glad to hear that about Affleck. I have mixed expectations of the movie overall, but I always counted on Affleck to thrill me. Since the first trailer, I knew he was going to kill it.

Watching this movie for him. Prepared to be pleasantly surprised about other stuff.

I'm not saying this should be the case, and in fact, I've argued quite a bit that superhero films could stand to be way more family friendly in general, but I can't think of a single big budget live-action superhero film since 2000 that was made to be in any way, a children's film.

None of these things are for kids. Zero.

(maybe Sky High? That's like, the one exception I can think of)
 
I'm in for Bat action. Otherwise...

MoS was a dull, turgid affair with no consistent rhythm, extremely odd pacing, monotonous action and a script so underdeveloped that even Amy Adams and Michael Shannon couldn't do anything with it.

Loved the trailers though.

Not a fan of the BvS trailers. Maybe this works the other way.

How coincidental that Sky High is also -the best- superhero movie!

I'm going to go out on a limb and say you haven't watched any Batman vs Superman trailers.

Or watched Man of Steel.

Or read any recent Superman comics.

Man of Steel had a few "Abysmals", GL, ASM and ASM2 were mixed too, F4 was shat on since day 1 etc, reactions are usually exaggerated, but red flags start appearing since the beggining (Some AoU reactions saying there were "lots of characters" and "it was difficult to follow" for example). There are a few redflags with this one too ("Tonal dissonance between the fantasy part and the realism") but they've been pretty tolerable, according to those saying them.

It's not hard to be better than Val Kilmer or George Clooney's Batman. Nor is it probably hard to be better than gravel voice always-has-his-mouth-open Christian Bale Batman. The only real competition Affleck has is Michael Keaton. Adam West's Batman is so far out there doing it's own thing that it's not even a fair comparison.

I enjoyed MoS, but I agree with you here. Every time I watch it and right after the great scene of Supes busting up the terraforming machine by flying through it happens and they have that shot of him reaching for the sun, I'm shocked they didn't put in a flashback scene with his Dad there.

It was a perfect opportunity and the pacing has slowed so it's not as if it would've dragged the film at that point. Such a shame.
