Best Superman movie suit?

I think the trunks complete the suit. Also I like how they didn't try to make them small like in Superman Returns. Reminds me of the Fleischer Studios design that is my favorite.
I think for me it's just that I prefer a more modern take on the traditional suit. Instead of red trunks I'd add red lines. To be honest almost none of these suits would be my first choice for a live action movie. I think that's why I like the design of that Supergirl suit I posted.

I'd go with some of the other suit designs that have been discussed over the years (sorry that most of these are supergirl it's just the fastest I could find modern designs for):

I can see why people would hate these though. That's why if we're talking the traditional suit, I'd simply agree with the Snyder fans and state that the red trunks should go. Again, I'd just add red lines on the suit but that's just me 🤷‍♂️

Red lines aren't going to do much. The only nontraditional costume that looks semi decent is the one from the Smallville comic. It's still not good by any stretch but it's the only trunkless design that isn't total crap.

Google is failing me by showing me too many designs. What does the suit look like?

The belt doesn't look like Chinese bootleg action figure shit like the new 52 one and the two-toned blue helps with the overload from losing the trunks more than just a belt does. The sad thing is the show made it quite clear he was going to have trunks but the comic came out during the no trunks era so this is what we got stuck with.

To me that's still better than having trunks. I would only add a gold or red line vertically down the suit where the different blues separate to make it more distinct.

It's still a bit too 'skin tight suit' which would be my secondary issue, especially with most old school hero suits. I feel like in DC, only Batman was able to temporarily escape this problem with armored/kevlar infused suits.

My favorite all-time set of live action suits are Steve Rodgers' Captain America MCU suits:

Except for Avengers 1, it felt like the suit designers gave him the best outfit every single time. They nailed it.

I need a Captain America-level of design shakeup for Superman. Maybe one day.

Those first three desings look great. I haven't read any modern Superman comics but I really like this Absolute Superman design:

I do plan reading All-Star Superman because its apparenly a big inspiration for the new movie.

The suit in Man of Steel, it is even better than the one in BvS.
i-drew-supermans-suit-from-man-of-steel-2013-from-memory-v0-umj078xn2xnd1.jpg

It changed all of the things I did not like about the older Superman suits:

The trunks. They are an outdated reference to strongmen and bodybuilders. This is not the 1930s anymore and everyone born in the past 50 years, deep down, thinks they look silly. Zero chance any of you would wear trunks over your pants out in public unless you were specifically dressing up as a superhero/cosplay.
The only time I liked the trunks was on Worlds of War Superman when they were literally all he had:

They genuinely look badass here. Like a spartan from 300.

The S shield looks too much like it is of earth origin. It's origin has coalesced, in most continuities, to being a symbol from krypton. The fact that it looks so much like an english letter S was too much for me to suspend my disbelief. The glyph in Man of Steel is different enough, that it looks alien while still looking like an S. Especially with the lore that the symbol on the suit is just a simplified version of the actual glyph (on the right):

The cape was too short. When it comes in at like knee level it looks like a kid that tied a towel around their neck. Despite the cape being an iconic and enduring part of the suit it never looked as cool as Batman's or Piccolo's, for example. The way Cavill's cape just barely skirts the ground as he walks...

The cape attachment is perfect as well.

He does not just tuck it into the top and the pleats are, as the kids say, peak.
No yellow S shield on the back either. I never saw the point of that.

I did not have a problem with the fabric looking like skintight polyester in most depictions but I like the material the MoS suit is made from. It helps reinforce the "alien" origin.

The only thing I did not like about the MoS suit was the oval "buckle." The rectangular one from BvS onward looks better. They also made the corset lines less aggressive and pronounced, which was an improvement.

But, they made the S shield overall smaller and put that line of kryptonian words through the middle of. I did not like that. There is writing on other seams in the suit like around the deltoid area.

If the Man of Steel suit had the BvS suit's corset lines and buckle then...

I think the 2013 suit is the best DCEU suit but colors were better in BvS. I like how alien it looks.

Movie version wise, I'm not a fan of Zack Snyder at all especially his DC films but I considers the costume Clark Kent wears in Man of Steel to be the best look we got so far. And I consider Gunn Superman Suit a close second

I like a lot of the Man of Steel suit, but I'm not a fan of fake muscles.
You kinda gotta do it if you want anything other than a very thin spandex suit though. No ones physique is gonna show through the way comics drawn them other than maybe the top tier bodybuilders when they are near competition ready. Those textured suits are thick, everyone would look like a blob in them without some added definition and the actors can't stay in ripped shape for the entire shoot anyway, those shirtless scenes are more prepped than a Tom Cruise stunt or a Jackie Chan fight scene :P

It's why I like the Reeves superman and West Batman suits, those thinner fabrics let the actors move freely and show -some- physique. Reeves as in pretty good late 70's shape

and West was in decent shape as well, at least in a pre-PED world.

We have just pushed the goalposts to a crazy extreme for "just walking around" male physiques. All shaved, sculpted, PED'd out and totally dehydrated.
