Saw this last night and after sleeping on it, I ultimately think it was not that good but I still kind of enjoyed it overall. Lois was completely pointless other than to explain the obvious to the audience? Oh, Lex was setting up Superman? Glad you were able to catch up for no apparent reason. Batman just fucking murdering people left and right, jesus christ at the batmobile scene. Lucky that tracker stayed on the truck after taking off half the back of the truck. I was hoping the entire time that they would somehow validate the portrayal of Lex, but they never do. He just sucks. It's a more sane Joker basically. It's just stupid. I hate the convenience of introducing kriptonite at the beginning of the movie just for the sole purpose of a weakness. Sure they needed it for Batman to even have a chance, but the convenience of it just feels dumb.
Batman was the best part of the movie but even he has issues. We had to reintroduce him? People aren't aware of Batman's origin by this point? But hey at least you got that stupid pearls breaking from the gunshot scene that was so damn dumb.
This, I at least somewhat forgave because of how he said he wasn't looking for it. At that point it is kind of understandable that he has his guard down. He's worried about how people are percieving him and thinking he is causing more problems than solving. He's kind of preoccupied with himself worried about how people see him. Which kind of goes back to Ma Kent telling he owes nothing to anyone. He just needs to do his thing and before that he really wasn't.

The thing about it is, he doesn't move AT ALL. Once the bomb detonates, he just stands in the same place. He doesn't fly out of the scene to see if anyone else is ok, he doesn't start attempting to clear debris or anything like that. He stands in the exact same place for the entire time.
I'm not saying he did it on purpose, I'm just saying it sure makes it seem that way.

Is it a suicide bombing of Lex planted the bomb?
Enjoyment doesn't mean it's a good movie, we enjoy a lot of things me (and many other) considered shit anyway. But yeah as much as I could enjoy this, it's really hard to recommend this to people or even a repeated viewing. Unless I can view just the last 30 minutes of the movie somehow.

Yeah, I just keep trying to think about how I liked it and all that comes up is shit I absolutely hated about it. It's just riddled with issues. It has some decent action scenes but you have to wait about an hour and a half to see any of them.

Isn't there a scene immediately afterwards where he is speaking to Lois and says I'm afraid I didn't know about the bomb because I wasn't looking for it.
And not sure what he could have done to save people during the explosion. Like it destroyed most of the building within seconds and there was already a parameter set up due to him being there and protesters and the press being blocked off.

Boy, if this is how the viewing of this movie is going to go with the public, we're in for it.
It's not a great movie. So we certainly don't have to start making up reasons why that is.
Just watched the film today and I kind of liked it. I realize it has a ton of issues, but I just loved the psychotic not-giving-a-fuck take on Batman. Affleck nailed it, both the Wayne and Batman parts. Really looking forward seeing more of him in the future.
I wish there were some more The Dark Knight Returns references. I loved that they basically adapted the "I believe you" moment from the graphic novel when Batman comes crashing through a wall and just kills the thug holding someone hostage.
The knightmare sequence and the cameos were soooo out of place though. They felt really forced in.

Lex planted a bomb in a wheelchair he donated to a dude who lost his legs during the Superman/Zod fight in Metropolis.
The guy in the wheelchair was also the guy who spraypainted "False God" on the statue.
So help me on this, people with comic book knowledge. Does the Knightmare scene has other meaning? Is it a foreshadowing of something? Is it a tribute to a book? Or it's just there to make us sure that Batman is really obsessed with Supes that he dreamt of himself in a trenchcoat fighting an army and insect-like things?

I'm not saying "Superman totes wanted everyone to die" I'm just saying it was lazy writing and showing Supes hearing the bomb detonator tick should have sprung his ass into action rather than being mopey.
On another point, the pictures Lex takes of Ma Kent being held hostage are legit terrifying. For a second I thought he had actually carved "WITCH" into her forehead, rather than writing it on.

Speaking of the nightmare parts, was my read on it correct that the real threat and future is Darkseid and Bruce just interprets it or applies it to Superman? The omega symbol and what I assume was flash telling him about Lois made me think it was all tacked on link to Justice League.
Foreshadowing of Darkseid. I think Lex might have gotten some visions too, because in the end he says something like "HE heard the bells ringing, HE is coming".

That was a future timeline where Darkseid has come. The omega symbol in the ground is his symbol. The parademons (flying things) are Darkseid's minions. The following dream with Flash was to tell Bruce that this was a possible future he could prevent.
Now, why any of that happened in this movie is beyond me.

how else are they going to force more references to future movies into the film. And show Batman straight up shooting people with actual guns. This is less of a movie and more of a puzzle piece for a puzzle that hasn't been finished yet... In the worst possible way.
I thought it meant something like if Lois is killed, Superman will join Darkseid in overthrowing the earth or something. Darkseid would be coming either way, but keeping Lois alive or not is the key of having Superman on the JL side... or something like that.
He doesn't actually kill the guy in the book, he hits him in the arm I think
I took Batman in a trenchcoat to be a hint at Damian, tbh

You're right he isn't infallible, except for all those scenes where they show off his faster than light super speed, but he couldn't use them after hearing the detonator tick because reasons.

It's cool that Luthor assigned symbol to the future League members, too.
Thor also did this in Age of Ultron (and it was a terrible scene) but at least they have established Thanos and the rings in the universe.

The movie nails home quite a few times that Clark will do absolutely anything for Lois. She is his world, and she even says she's not sure he can be him (Superman) to the full extent as long as he loves her. The after the nightmare Flash from the future or something in Bruce's dream tells him that Lois is the key, you can't let her die. So there's some serious Injustice vibes.
Oh come on the following scene he flat out says he didn't notice the bomb because he wasn't looking for it, because he assumed nobody would want to do wrong, and assumed men are good.

Its like if we had Iron Man 1, then the immediate follow up was Civil War and Tony dies at the end. Dramatically its cheap yet conversely cheaper just bring him back the next film / JL pile up

It's not an astronaut suit though. It's like a Flash suit with armor plating and the helmet seems to open up. Both of these scenes are visions or dreams that bruce gets when he is sleeping and taking a nappy nap.
So Batman has a dream an armored Flash warns him about a plot point explicitly meant for Justice League though?
It doesn't pertain to the plot of this movie, but like a retelling that's going to happen for Justice League?
