Dark Souls III in English is now available on the Xbox One after buying on JP store

IGN is so smart that they're streaming a "spoiler alert" live video on the front page. Fuck Namco for this non-sense. This launch is a mess.

The streamers thing was annoying enough as not all of them are mainstream press, but it just makes people salty that the delay for the West is clearly fueled by internal business decisions and not some sort of localisation requirement. I'm sure they won't roll out another Souls title like this again.

This sounds like the definition of salt. DSP is a toolbox, but "illegal" - not even. There is no binding agreement between Namco/FS and ANY streamer. It is up to YT/Twitch/etc. to snipe streams.

Didn't the embargo say that you can only stream the Japanese version and not the English version unless you have permission

I've only played half way through Dark Souls 1 and I did this anyway. Downloading now. Cool, I suppose.

fwiw, here's what I did. Microsoft Store for the Yen points, 5000 and 3000, used the previously posted address info (Asakasa, 1-10-5), Paypal. Got the codes, redeemed on Xbox.com Japan, bought and downloaded.

Honestly Google Translate made it very easy.

Where on Xbox.com is there a redeem option?

I bought mine from xbox.com and downloaded on my UK account on the console itself. It's all English all over :)

So while this is downloading, what's the deal? Has buying the Japanese version unlocked the game in other regions or is this the actual Japanese version we're downloading?

I thought it was the former but I'm hearing conflicting reports. Not that it really matters if it's all in English anyway.

You are buying license to Dark Souls. Depending on which region your xbox is currently set to when you download it will download 1 of 4 versions:

DarkSoulsIII_1.0.0.4_x64_EU_ts06p2nvtftgc
DarkSoulsIII_1.0.0.4_x64_NA_ts06p2nvtftgc
DarkSoulsIII_1.0.0.4_x64_AS_ts06p2nvtftgc
DarkSoulsIII_1.0.0.5_x64_JP_ts06p2nvtftgc

You can check which version you downloaded by going to games & apps and hitting lt+rt+view and you will get a screen like this (sorry I don't have DS3 but you get the point):

I think they took off the sale option from the Japanese Store in the website, the DS3 appears but there I not purchase option.

Now IM stuck with 8000 Yen...=/ please help!

you can still buy it off your xbox one. Just change your language to japanese (its writen in kanji google it) and reset your xbox and look it up in the store.

Oh fuck, I finally downloaded the game now, quickly tried it, set the console back to English, but when I start DS3, it's still japanese!

Does this happen to anybody else? :(

It's far easier to just buy from the website and then download to your console. It's guaranteed to be in English then.

Ok Ill try, and let you know what happens, if I purchase in the store I shold have received a Email with codes for those Yen?

I wonder if the xbox one version will be able to go online any time soon

I was gonna wait until the PC version was out, but if this happens in the next 7 days, I think I'll just double dip. I've managed to hold off buying it so far due to coop being so important to me with these games.

Who knows. But again, there's nothing "illegal" about it. It would simply be a matter for YT or Twitch to step in and stop the stream and then you'd have your answer.

At this point the genie is out of the bottle so not a whole lot Namco/FS can do. This game will be online in it's entirety by days end.

I keep getting stuck when buying it. I have 8,000 Yen, but when I click to purchase I get some weird options that I can't translate. It has a plus sign and it takes me to fill out some boxes. any help?

Edit: I filled something out and somehow did it.

OK, so I think I managed to buy a 5000 and 3000 Yen credit. I added the Akasaka address people mentioned and checked out with PayPal, and now I'm on an order confirmation page.

I see some people mentioning waiting on an e-mail, but this page seems to show me 25-digit codes for each of the Yen credits; are these what I need?

How do I redeem them? Do I need to create a Japanese Microsoft account, or can you add credit without logging onto an account while on the Japanese site?

You started the download while your Xbox region was Japanese. Delete it and redownload while your Xbox region is English/US.

There's some security code and confirmation screens, in the Chrome App I got to translate what it said. At one time I had to use a security code confirmation.

On my iOS 6 Chrome's app did real well, I think the top one you can sign in to your hotmail account.

Can someone post screens on what to do exactly? Help your bros out!!!!

I think I'm close to finishing doing everything I need (I asked a question above, and I'm waiting on a response before I can continue). When I'm completely done, I might put together a completely thorough idiots guide on what to do, step-by-step, as I think a lot of people would certainly benefit from one. God knows I have a bunch of friends I want to share this with as soon as I figure it all out.
