Dark Souls III in English is now available on the Xbox One after buying on JP store

What am I supposed to put in the phone number slot.

I'm putting 日本 but it wants something in the slot next to it.

Edit: I did not mean to double post this. Sorry mods.

I put the two characters in the address spot and I entered my area code in the first box and my base phone number in the box next to it and that worked fine.

Got mine, bought at least. Rebooting my xbox now to start the download.

Hopefully they let people keep it. Obviously fans, and they're paying.

Holy shit. It was a bit of a struggle with all of the different and incomplete instructions out there, but I'm finally downloading Dark Souls III. Thanks to everyone in this thread who helped clear things up.

This happened to me with Firefox. Switched to Edge and it came right up.

I'm trying on all 3 browsers that I have installed to no avail. No W10 so no Edge for me. Gonna try from my phone next.

People better hurry up then. No time to waste. I would disconnect the console from online to prevent the license from being forcibly removed, but that may be overcautious.

you can't play it online apparently anyway so there's no reason not to go offline.

My suspicion was that if your Xbox was on and you completed the purchase, it may have immediately started downloading prior to you changing the region back. If that's not the case, then I'm not sure why some people are getting their initial downloads being the Japanese version.

Shit, this makes me scared, because my game is still downloading. I would be destroyed if it was the JAP version ...

I have Dark Souls 3 in English!

IT ACTUALLY WORKS

If nobody else beats me to it, I might try and put a dummies guide together tomorrow to help people through the whole process; it's getting a bit late here (I'm not even going to play any of DS3 tonight).

But to sum it up, here's what I did:

Load a separate tab with Google Translate and use it often
Go to Microsoft's website
In the bottom left of any page, you can change the country/language. Change it to Japanese
Find 5000 and 3000 Yen credit, and add them both to your basket
Pay using PayPal
Use the Akasaka billing details provided elsewhere in this thread. Provide your real e-mail address so you get the codes sent to you
You'll receive the codes by e-mail and also on the order confirmation page
Redeem your codes (I forget what page I did this from, but if you change the language back to English, you can find it, then switch back to Japanese)
Find Dark Souls 3
Buy it
It should download in your language the next time you switch your XB1 on (I imagine; mine was on while I was doing this, and it just started installing automatically, and in the right language).

Thanks for the heads up. I'll go offline once it downloads. I wonder if 'fixing it' is just referring to taking it off the xbox store for purchase.

Don't worry about it. The only thing they're going to do is restrict the ability to buy the game for people who's IP originate from outside Japan. Both Bamco and MS are getting money and they sure as hell prefer that to people pirating the game. If anything, I would be wary of buying yen prior to trying to buy the game.

It is the English version for me.

Didn't know about no online, though. I just signed up for xbox live ... :( My second major fuck up after buying the PS4 version I guess.

Can you link the store page for the game itself? I keep getting infinite loading when searching the xbox site.

I think so too but I'm still nervous about it. I accidentally bought 2 5000 yen cards. What else should I buy with the 2500 yen if there's anything that price.

I'd bet it's making digital purchases locked to region. Eg, buy "in japan", get rights to japanese version only. They better not take it away for everyone who already got it, since we MASSIVELY overpaid for the privilege. GAF as my witness, I'll trade my console in after Quantum if they do.

That or something similar to Sony's approach. The English version isn't even available to download and won't be for three weeks.

do you even know how much you paid? 10,000 yen is only 88 dollars.

I'm asking because I don't know how much I paid for 10,000 yen card.

Can anyone direct link the japanese store page for the game. When I search I just get this indefinitely.

But you're not owed the English version. They can take your English license and give you the Japanese license that you paid for.

If my damn PayPal transaction doesn't go through before the loophole is closed, I'm going to be very pissed about having roughly $72 in Microsoft points. I'll probably still just get the Japanese version and stumble my way through it like I did with Dragon Quest Builders.

This is so stupid. I hate to whine but this staggered release is really getting to me. For a game like Dark Souls III it just doesn't make sense. The streamers getting it early is only more infuriating. I'd do this trick to play it now except that I already intend to buy the PS4 and PC versions. I'm just not... that crazy (yet). :(

I can't believe I just paid so much extra for this.

There's text on the page for the codes that makes it look like they're sold out now... maybe the party is over..

I literally just did the entire process 5-10 minutes ago.

Sorry, I meant that the English version of the ps4 digital download isn't available.

Sorry, I thought you were talking about the XB1 version. My mistake.

But Sony's approach isn't exactly foreigner friendly though. Nor the developer.
Sony: "Hey I want you to keep all the localization out of the game until it releases in those regions. Then patch it in."
FROM: "But what if there's a bug?"
Sony: WHAT DID I SAY!?

Got mine downloaded... The menus are all in Japanese. I thought everything was English...?
Delete and download again. Out of curiosity, was your XB1 on when you completed the purchase from Japan?

I doubt they're going to rework how their entire store or their purchased licenses works. The fix will likely be similar to how they handled cheap, cross region purchases of Tomb Raider and Gears on the W10 store: make payment verification more stringent.

Has anyone unlocked achievements yet? Wondering if this will cause completion issues when the game is actually released.

Looks like 24 tracked gamers on TA have unlocked at least one achievement, but I guess those could be official review copies.
