People like what they like.

I have a soft spot for Batman, so I have a feeling that I will probably watch it eventually and rate it higher than a 31% or whatever the hell its at right now.

I know because I'm one of them.

Still, doesn't mean the film isn't a turd just that it might be a passable turd

He's a broken man who has lost everything close to him save Alfred. His depression and anger is only exacerbated by the world wrecking threat he presumes Superman is. His actions made sense and felt true to me given this, even if they didn't fit the conventional image of Batman. Take the conventional Batman and break him mentally, and this is what you'd get.

And I really didn't like what they did to Superman in Man of Steel, so I'm not cold to movies' treatment of superheroes.

Oh my God I have not laughed that hard in a long time, just describing the nightmare sequences made most of my friends die laughing after seeing this movie. The level of insanity on display in this film was amazing. Everyone go see this film, I need more Zach Snyder superhero movies. I need to see his Justice League.

I seriously don't get how people thought this movie was that bad. I was expecting something on the fantastic four level and my expectations were blown out of the water. I can see Rotten tomatoes getting a backlash for this, there's no way that many people are going to dislike this film.

Lol... How would Rotten Tomatoes get "a backlash"? They simply gather all major review publications & plop them on their site. It's not like they created the ratings.

I liked the movie? It was fun and I enjoyed my time? It's not the complete trainwreck the reviews and this thread would love for you to believe? If the basis of reviews boil down to "Fuck Snyder" and "We need jokes," then they lost. I'm sorry if you disagree. Was the first hour an editing mess? Yes, without question, but that's the most glaring issue I had with it.

Opinions are opinions and I'm not going to sit here and dwell on negative reviews. I enjoyed it and had fun and I'm excited to see what they do in the future. I won't apologize for that.
 
Just got back.

I will be posting in depth review in the spoiler review.

Movie is not nearly as bad as some people are making it out to be. I would say it's a bit better than Man of Steel, in fact it's pretty much MoS 2 in all but the name (for better or for worse). There are certainly a lot worse super hero movies out there.

However, what really hurt the movie was its poor editing, pacing and shoe horning of JL stuff. That entire Knightmare sequence had jack to do with the actual movie and only set up Justice League (or some bizarre else world story/movie). Visually it looked nice, action was good and performances were good enough.

There's a good chunk in the middle where not a lot of happens and that is going to kill its replay value among audiences. Very few people would want to sit through 2 hours of build up to get to the best action (Yea there are a few action scenes sprinkled in the middle but all are low stakes or inconsequential).

I am curious to see the Director's Cut though.
 
I'm not worried, I'm still going to enjoy this movie.

I loved Man of Steel and thought Deadpool was hot garbage, their Rottentomatoes scores should be reversed in all honesty so I'm sure the same critics who hated Man of Steel, hated Batfleck v. Superman.

You didn't have problems with the fight delivery? Entire hour was leading to it and it was handled like crap.

Again, I personally don't really depend on critic reviews to decide on whether to watch a film or not (in contrast to receiving some word-of-mouth from the average movie-goer) and give my own personal opinion.

To be fair on my part, I actually have some enjoyment out of comedies (i.e. Jim Carrey) even though most of the ones I enjoy get thrashed by critics. Well aside from the parody shit (that stuff just lacks any originality) and possibly Adam Sandler (aside from Funny People).

Though it did certainly not encourage me to check out Fant4stic.

Can't you just read the beginning of the thread instead of starting this shit again? Equating consideration of critic reviews in a purchasing decision with a lack of independent thinking is a seriously flawed perspective.
 
It went to 30%??? This movie keeps surprising me.

It's a disappointing movie, but still not the worst superhero movie I seen, I've seen many worse than this.
 
Man it is hard for me to believe the good reviews in this thread, especially when they have comments about how BvS is better than the whole dark knight Nolan series and/or all marvel movies combined. I'm going to see this movie this weekend but i will have low expectations. Even Jeremy Jahns who is possibly one of the biggest comic fanboy reviewers on youtube could not even give this movie a good rating says something.

It's not a good movie, I think even its fans will admit the many problems, but depending on your preferences it can be very enjoyable. It's not garbage, but it's certainly a mess.
