Dark Souls III [Import OT] Kindle the fire, one last time

Reached the final Lord of Cinder... first Soulsborne fight since O&S that I have no idea how I'll beat solo.

People who are concerned about challenge, don't be. Unless I'm missing something, this might be the toughest fight in the series.

Edit: ...and got him. Tougher than Orphan of Kos, imo.

I just beat
Deacons of the deep. not sure if the minions have a very poor range or is it just luck, because they kept missing me with their jump attacks lol.

So how do you explain demon ruins and Izalith? That was DS2-quality level design.

Comparing Miyazaki-san and the directors from Dark Souls 2 should not be related only to quality as if one is good and everything he touches is gold and the others are terrible and everything they touch is shit. We're talking about different approaches, tone and emphasis on different aspects of level design and storytelling. Putting such different approaches together could be jarring and could easily be seen and compared in the game.
That being said... I'm not sure what areas is silva1991 referring to. Also, if that
Cathedral
is the location I think it is, I personally loved it and found it pretty similar to other (pretty famous) locations from Miyazaki's previous games.

Asked in the other thread, but didn't get a response.

I'm about 6 bosses in, and so far I've seen a lot of bonfires, and not many shortcuts. Individual areas are still sprawling and fairly well designed, but I'm aching for that interconnected metroidvania feeling, or at least some more shortcut porn. Does it get better in that regard?

"things I don't like" = B-TEAM!!!, but of course the ones that people like must be Miyazaki. Because his direction has never lead to crap before.

I wonder if the B-team traveled back in time to make Lost Izalith.

These kinds of posts are just silly. Keep on citing the area that progressively became "the worst level design of all time" as internet hyperbole decreed it as such. Even if it was the worst area in the game it doesn't somehow invalidate everything that came prior.

Also, saying it's easy to see where Miyazaki worked on this game level wise, and what appears to be "B team" design could also be entirely true; or both areas could have simply been Miyazaki designed with one with him in top form, and the other on autopilot. Either way, you can tell the difference between Miyazaki's influence at its best, and every other option.

The
Crystal Sage
has been defeated. So, does anyone know how I can
reverse the lift in church so it goes up? This is where you meet Siegmind of Catarina, the same one from Dark Souls 1.

Same lift has
2 platforms. Step on the button of the lift and roll out of it and wait for the second platform to come down.

Get on the lift and jump off before it goes down. Then wait for it to to all the way down and get on the top of it.

Playing Japanese PS4 version with Google's translate app. Can someone please reveal to me how you (game mechanic question)
go friggin' human-LOOKING again? I've played a ton of this game now with my character creation rendered pointless, haha. I was told to give "the thing" in the Firelink tower to the fire keeper. All it did, seemingly, was add an option that works like sin in prior games. When I paid, my black hole items disappeared, then nothing.

Where's the
doll?
a few other unexplained things
is that dragon/lizard on the bridge suppose to disappear?

In the
forest above the swampy forest (the daylight looking one, near crabs) there are a few ruins. There are many paths, one of which leads to a whole new area.

Haven't found the doll but that beast will disappear if you try to pull it beyond that gate. It's leashed so people don't try to take advantage of it. I'm assuming you get the doll from the Dancer, but since i haven't beaten her yet that's just speculation on my part.

Is anyone playing full tank, greatsword/tower shield heavy armor?

Is it viable? I felt it was more viable in DS1 than 2 (still played both that way tho)

I'm trying to get there but i can't seem to find any of that. I found an axe in the second area, and a farmable that might drop the flamberge. I'll let you know

are there a lot of secret areas and optional bosses?...

You betcha.
My feelings on what i've seen so far

What is the reward for successful coop? Do you get rekindled? An Ember or a Covenant item? Thanks.

When you help someone to defeat to beat a boss you get your health back like in demon souls

I don't know about other covenants, but you do get sunlight medal if you help someone as sunbro.

Downloading this now on Xbox One. It's a shame that they didn't just do a world wide launch in the first place. I was looking forward to finally being a part of the whole "discovery" aspect of the series.

ok I finally got lightning spear and.. it seems very weak. at 20 faith it does glancing damage against most things. it casts fast but also hogs through mana.

it certainly feels like you'd really need to commit to the faith and attunement hard for offense to be viable

has anyone figured out where to get greater spear, or where to turn in sun medals?

Looks like no Str/faith build this time around. Unfortunate that dark souls 2 killed such a literally godly miracle.

Weird, I found an empty Estus Flask yesterday and it doesn't automatically become full after resting at a bonefire. It's not included in the count when I split between regular and ashen too.

I think I found one at the beginning of the game and was able to do something with it, but I can't remember what.

where's the claymore?

So what's the general consensus so far?

played like 15 hours now or more.. love it, with two hindrances.. one is that it's in japanese and because of it I'm even more blind than otherwise, two is because of the absolutely horrible console framerate. bloodborne but even worse. it's just so bad that it really detracts from my enjoyment, especially when doing multiplayer activities the framerate just suffers even more. it feels so unsmooth.

when it comes out on PC in NA both those will be resolved, so... A++++++++++ game

So... I uh... I just found this secret area and I don't even know how to explain what it is. It doesn't make sense within the context of the rest of the game.

I found Firelink Shrine. Another, identical one, guarded by a different Gundyr and tended by a different handmaiden. Andre is absent, but his hammer remains and there was a dead NPC with some weird eyeballs item on her.

What's crazy is that this wasn't accessed through some portal or timewarp, it's just hidden in the real world. It's kind of confounding.

Lore experts are going to have a field day with this.

They have in the passed actually somewhat condoned the use of other marketplaces.

An employee even gave something of a guide on how to do it.

once the game comes out in NA, will those of us who bought it on the JP MS store have in effect the same exact version as anyone else in NA? Will it patch and connect the same as anyone? Because last I heard it's still offline mode only for NA.
