Batman v Superman Spoiler Thread: Don't believe everything you read, Son

I definitely think a lot of the criticism of the film is coming from people's projections and expectations of the characters...ie "THIS is who Superman is". Whereas this film takes liberties with the characters for this universe. Batman kills bad guys seemingly. And is generally much darker and violent than any other live action Batman, but in a believable way, as weird as that sounds. Same goes for Supes.

It's all about what these characters might actually be like in the real world IMO.

Like I said earlier if batman kills people the suicide squad movie shouldn't even exist. In the real world the joker would be dead.

So... you still with me after 3500 words? What did you all think? I'm not crazy, right?

Right?

My god Anthony, what have you done.

Bruce in the gym was #swoleasfuck

After which I was okay with Bat throwing everyone around. lol
My boyfriend kept saying there was going to be a scene of Bruce pumping iron and when he got a whole montage he was so excited. I lost that bet. Should have known better.

Yup, this. I can believe that a Bruce who lost Dick and/or Jason and never adopted Tim and Cass, etc. just ended up going off the deep end. But if that were the case he'd start with the Joker first.

Unless
Joker is one of the previous Robins in which case I will be so fucking angry and will refuse to watch anymore of these films.

So where was anything about Robin in this film? People couldn't shut up about it from advance footage.
Sadly no, just the suit we already saw. Which was the worst for me. My sister says she saw the world "Dick" scrawled in the Wayne manor but I didn't see it.

Seriously this whole universe is either made or broken for me depending on what the deal is with the Robin(s).

We got Mask of Phantasm references, Shazam references, Olympus references, a fucking Mother Box, but they couldn't get Alfred to mention "Master Dick" or "Master Jason" a single time
This dumb mystery of 'Who's the dead Robin?' is obnoxious

Maybe in the director's cut? :(

Just the suit with the graffiti on it. I hope they reveal him to be the Joker at some point. That'd be a fun twist.
No, that would be the absolute worst twist.

I hated this movie.

-What was with the dream Bruce had? Why was a dude coming out of his computer to tell him Lois Lane is the key? The key to what?

-How did Lex know Clark is Superman?

-Why did Lex decide to stick a dead alien body in a pile of goo and make a monster?

-Why did Batman suddenly abandon his quest to kill Superman, the cause for which he was so dedicated to he staked his life on it, because their mothers have the same name?

-Who the hell is Wonder Woman?

Question guys, since they held two funerals for Superman and Clark was in the casket with Mama Kent, who was in the casket for the army funeral?

Lex was gonna use the Kryptonite to kill Superman but when Batman stole it then he went with plan B is my guess.

I was getting straight season Arrow vibes with Batman there though. I was surprised Batman was straight up killing people.

I swear though during the doomsday fight Batman had some "I'm gonna shit my pants" facial expression I kinda lol'd at them

This post made me realize that comic book movies are no fun if you have zero experience with comic books.

I disagree. It'd be nice to have the Joker be something other than randomly psychotic for unknown reasons. Dude is played out.
It's been done before in the comics and cartoons. Plus, the Robins are some of my favorite characters ever. Dude's played out either way. Let me finally have my babies on screen. ;-;

I thought that was a symbolic funeral (the one with the army). I think Clark just wanted a personal thing, or his mom wanted that.

Nope, just this one.

Deadpool, for example, was coherent, concise, engaging, and funny - everything this movie is not, and the vast majority of that movie's audience has never read a Deadpool comic book ever.

1)That was the flash going back in time to warn Bruce about what happens when Lois Lane dies. Clark goes mad, and he conquers the world. That's what the entire dream was about. It was actually the future.

2)Lex knew because he noticed the politizer prized journalist always got saved by Supes. He just did the math. If anything, we should be mad it took Clark so long to realize Batman is Bruce lol

3)Because the Krypotnian Siri told him he could make a bad motherfucker if he did. It was explained pretty poorly though.

4)Bruce realized Supes is a fuck up like him and he didn't want to rob him of a loved one. The better question is how the fuck did Louis know to go exactly there?

5)Scarlett Johanson

I just got finished watching this movie. Let me tell you, I didn't want to believe any of the bullshit that is on the internet. I truly didn't. But fuck this movie sucked so bad. I can forgive the dumb shit(characterizations were way off). But, there were things that I was just like huh?

Bad:

  • Superman going to the mountains and hallucinating his father.
  • How the fuck did Lex find all this shit out about every fucking body, yet Batman, fucking Batman doesn't know shit?
  • Save Martha
  • Fucking internet trailer of the justice league.
  • The editing is shit. Some scenes just 'happen'. Think the Thor scene in AoU. wtf?

Dude seriously. How the fuck did she know that she needed to go back and get the fucking spear? How?

Good:

  • Best part of the movie was the lasso of truth. Seriously.
  • Cyborg scene looking like something out of Hellraiser. I'll allow it.
  • Alfred's scenes

I really wanted this to be good. but, it's not. So fuck it.

Those who have read the comics and understands these characters, or at least seen the animated movies featuring batman and superman together, are the ones who are going to be thoroughly entertained with Zack Snyder's Batman V Superman. I am lucky to have grown up watching the animated tv series and the animated films based around these characters and omg, there were so many scenes that felt like it was taken straight out of them. So good, can't wait for Justice League now!

Well, deadpool was a new character in the movie world. Little different as the movie had to establish this new guy and what his deal is. it's a little different.

-What was with the dream Bruce had? Why was a dude coming out of his computer to tell him Lois Lane is the key? The key to what?

Some kind of vision / dream. The Flash comes back from the future to warn Batman about what can happen if Lois / Martha dies. She is the key to not having Superman go berserk.

-How did Lex know Clark is Superman?

I'm not sure, but Lex is pretty smart. I'm sure he has his ways.

-Why did Lex decide to stick a dead alien body in a pile of goo and make a monster?

I might be wrong here, but I believe the ship's computer tells him it needs Kryptonian material to create something new.

-Why did Batman suddenly abandon his quest to kill Superman, the cause for which he was so dedicated to he staked his life on it, because their mothers have the same name?

He opened up emotionally after hearing his mother's name. Realizing Superman also has a mom.

-Who the hell is Wonder Woman?

An Amazoninan warrior princes coming to Gotham and Metropolis to retrieve a photography that was in possession of Lex.

1) Some dystopian alternate reality where Superman has gone rogue because Lois was killed. The other guy was the Flash. That whole sequence was setting up Justice League, I would completely ignore it.

2) He isn't an idiot like the rest of the people in the universe?

3) Plan B in case Batman doesn't kill Superman. Though it seemed he was more interested in creating a powerful enough weapon to deter Superman.

4) His parents death is the main reason he is Batman. It's a major component of his character. If someone randomly blurted out your dead mother's name then you would take pause. It might have been the tipping point that caused him to stop what he was doing. Him being adamant to save Clark's mother was him trying to compensate for losing his own. It also gave Batman and Superman some much needed common ground.

5) Only the most famous super heroine.
