Marvel has released a new teaser, one that has an ominous ring to it where the X-Men are concerned. The image features the phrase "Death of X" along with a date of f

No other information is available about "Death of X" at this time; it's not known who is working on the title, or whether or not it is a new series, event, storyline or something else entirely. Marvel currently has two events in the works: the currently unfolding X-Men event "Apocalypse Wars" and the upcoming "Civil War II," which will also feature an X-Men tie-in limited series. A previous teaser for a Spider-Man storyline called "Dead No More" was released back in January.

Currently, the X-Men are in dire straits thanks to the Inhuman Terrigen Mist that has enveloped the planet. The Mist has caused the spread of an M-Pox, which has rendered the mutant race sterile and stopped the births of new mutants while also proving deadly to existing mutants. Whether this teaser has anything to do with this plot line remains unclear.

'M-pox'? Just call the virus 'Fox' as the real cause for the Death of X and go full Meta

It's not just for that reason. Marvel has been toying with limiting Mutants a lot in the past 15-20 years, because they fuck up the whole Marvel Universe. How can other Superheroes have impact when something like 1 in 100 people (it was that high pre-House of M I think) have the Mutant Gene? They have to limit the number of Mutants periodically to make sure there aren't hundreds of thousands of super-powered beings on Earth at a time. This is why I personally don't mind Fox having the X-Men movies, because mutants in the MCU would break everything. It's better that they have to come up with clever ways to avoid them--using the Inhumans, making SW/QS science experiments.

let me start this with saying im a huge x-men fanboy, probably one of the few left (certainly on ComicGaf)

that being said, I would actually be impressed if they actually had the balls to go ahead with a story that actually killed off mutants from the Marvel Universe. It would be so incredibly petty that it would actually be impressive

They wont tho and this is just another been there done that event

Ike Perlmutter is known to be a very petty individual.

Marvel could end the X-Men line for a while and do it with a fucking bang if they had someone that really, really wanted to write Cyclops well.

Too bad they keep handing the keys to fools like bendis

The X-Men series are so bad these days anyways it's hard to care. They need a talented writer to come in, do a clean sweep and just start from basics. Hickman would be ideal but he seems to need a break.

Probably going to be a reveal of what happened to Cyclops when he challenged the Inhumans.

We can probably guess what happened though.

Yeah, that's my guess too (the red 'X' could even be his mask). About fucking time if that's the case. Ridiculous how long they've strung it out. Hell making us wait six more months is even more ridiculous.

It's really sad how much Marvel is trying to phase out X-men these days.

It'd be sad if there were a lick of truth to it, yeah

That would be pretty cool.

I'm enjoying the current X-books.

Have any of you guys read the ANAD X-Books? Killing them would be the most humane thing to happen to them in months. Good guy Marvel.

Hahahaha, as if.

Wolverine's aight though.

And Uncanny looks like it'd be interesting if it was drawn by anyone but Land.

They killed Oof the FF comics because of FOX, wouldnt surprise me if the X-Men are next.

Thought they "killed them off" after numerous attempts at great stories with great writers couldn't get people to buy the books.

Silly to say something stupid like this after the moment the FF had in the amazing Secret Wars, but people that say things like this probably aren't reading the comics.

Joking aside, yeah. The X-Men books are at their worst right now.

Or just watching the movies. Or not reading the comics and just watching the movies.

Yeah but I mean...that's because Bendis is really fun. It's less about Wolverine and Bendis shining in his perfect environment.

True story though? The Inhumans titles kick ass right now.

The rise of Inhumans in the marvel U I find hilarious.
Coupled with all the other super powered people that aren't mutants or Inhumans and yet humans still hate mutants for some reason.

If anything Inhumans should be the genetic bogeymen now.

Is Steve the new Black Bolt? lol not a fan of the armor look. Is that book good though? I don't really mess with Inhumans. Wish Marvel would push the Eternals.

....no more bendis kitty moments.

I don't really recall any bad Kitty moments in Uncanny which was the book I liked better of the two he was on.
