Dark Souls III [Import OT] Kindle the fire, one last time

I saw mention from someone somewhere that it's pretty pathetic dmg wise even with all faith boosts on a faith build :/

Still does more damage than sorcery apparently lol.

Pyromancy seems to be the way to go for magic damage from what I've read.

Quick question regarding weapon infusement. (maybe spoilery? idk)

Can you infuse unique weapons, like boss soul weapons or twinkling titanite weapons? I'd love to use a certain boss weapon with a Faith build.

Not that I've seen, but I've only tried doing it to a few weapons.

That's a bit of hyperbole. I've seen successive areas loop in on themselves, but I've yet to see a loop even close to Dark Souls 1 original loop. Not even close.

Indeed. It's much better than ds2 and same level of bb interconnected areas but no secret path to link an area to a completely different area like the Havel shortcut that links undead burg to darkroot basin or the drake valley linked to new londo.

I keep seeing absolutely no one parrying anything in these streams. Are these bigger enemies like
the fat lady that looks a bit like the minister from DeS and the big saw guy
not parry-able or something? They sure do look like they're perfectly parry-able.

any idea as to why all the npcs in the firelink disappeared after killing the first ''throne boss'' or so and haven't returned at all? I'm close to the end-game and they still aren't back.
they shouldn't be dead since there was no drop in their location.

I lost two myself around then.
Hawkwood gave me a few items and then disappeared. I haven't come across him again but his questline felt pretty final, since you took care of the leaders of his former group. Irina disappeared too, I found her just outside of the tutorial boss area with Eygon. Probably because I forced dark stuff on her.

Have you killed the Tree boss in Undead Settlement? I read there's an enemy you can interact with in Undead Settlement who tells you to rescue an NPC from a cage on the back of a monster or something, he'll invade if you follow the steps correctly. If you beat the Tree boss before you do it though the NPC is killed and his body is by the altar in the boss arena, which means you can't join the covenant.

I have no idea how right that is but i haven't been able to trigger him either and that's what i've read.

Yeah, I've already cleared out the entire area + boss, so if that's correct I guess I'm screwed this playthrough. Seems a bit definitive but oh well.

I feel like Bloodborne is more interconnected and feels better than this. It's much better than DS2 though that's for sure.

Parry got way harder is way more dangerous so people don't fuck with it all the time.

Way harder huh? It didn't seem much different from DS1, is the timing more particular now then or something?

Have you actually played the game? Enemies don't all swing with the same lumbering strokes like they did in Dark Souls 1 and Demon Souls.

Mmh bloodborne was one huge town area, and yes that was interconnected in clever ways but to me it counts as one area. All the other ones are not interconnected to the town.

From has totally nailed the environments in this game, gone even further than BB. Absolutely massive areas, the level of detail in this one castle is insane.

It's definitely doable still. I parry a ton with my Katana sword art. It's more of a style thing now I guess. Parry isn't as easy, but if you're good at it then it's still a good way to get a ton of damage in. Other people may just find it easier to dodge/block and then get attacks in without worrying about parrying.

The Katana art is a stun art so it always stun - no timing required. I do it like this too because I am a Katana user myself - sadly the range is a bit short.

As other people said: the attack animations are way too fast or different that you can safely parry them all.

To me parry is just usually more risk than reward. Some of these bigger guys follow up attacks with a ton of rapid hits that can all snag you if the initial parry misses, I've always rather gone for more strafe and backstab in these games.

I did parry a lot in bloodborne but the timing in that always felt pretty simple in comparison.

Currently beat the third boss and am mostly getting lost in the giant ass area afterwards. I'm starting to get back in the groove playstylewise which has made it felt a lot better. Also goddamn the estus is ass, it feels like it heals for a paltry amount already.

This is how I feel. The game seems harder than any other souls or borne game, and it's largely because of the brutal and unpredictable combos of enemies. Parrying helps but only if you are so good at it that you won't miss, because enemies do so much damage that it's impractical to take shots at parrying if you aren't going to land it 90% of the time.

Black Knights
, like I said, seem really hard to me. Their combos are hard to predict, sometimes they just keep swinging, 3, 4, 5 swings -- and you can't tell whether they're going to do this or not.

Fights against these types of enemies often just come down to a lot of patience.

Sorry to ask this, but does anyone know how to cease being a dark spirit.

Since last night after I had accomplished an invasion, when I returned to my own world, a returned as a dark spirit, and can no longer progress in the game as it will not allow me to attack anything but it will allow me to continue to invade otherworlds for my covenant, and if I suicide it simply respawns me as a dark spirit.

Does anyone know how to fix this as I do not want to start the game all over again?

The Katana weapon art, at least for the
Uchigatana
is a lunging slash with L2+R1 and a Parry with L2+R2. You can see it here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXqyZ5YpdIA

There is most certainly a timing for it.

Seriously this is the last thing on my to do list in ng afaik, how do i get behind there?

Start from the bonfire near the large gate that was locked by the three torches. Go through the gate, and head toward the Abyss Watchers. Once you pass the two dudes with the large swords head right and backwards and there should be another bonfire. It's a better bonfire for doing boss runs for the Watchers. If you already found that bonfire just go the opposite direction of the boss.

edit; beaten. oops.

I've read someone having the same problem. So you're not alone. I think it was on Reddit. He had to restart if I remember correctly. Have you tried unequipping the covenant emblem? just a wild guess

Not sure if anyone's gotten this on the JP PC version of the game, but I'm getting regular screen freezes that can last up to 20 seconds. Anyone know of a fix for this?

I had the same problem and suicide worked for me, it kicked me straight to the title screen when i respawned and then it was fine. I've seen someone else say they needed to turn off the internet on their console and then suicide for it to sort itself out though.

Bringing my xbox one on a bus so I can continue playing tonight. this thing is heavy in my backpack.

This game keeps getting better.

My impressions after a couple hours were that the game handles beautifully, Dark Style 1 movement / combat that took a lesson in fluidity from Bloodborne with none of the weirdness of DS2. But I wasn't immediately blown away by the world, bosses, or enemy design.

Now ~17 hours in, taking things really slowly and the game has been delivering on all fronts for a while now. A couple of bosses have been perhaps too easy, and I don't understand why there's so many tombstones in places where tombstones don't belong, but the game is just damn good. There's tons of weapons and the upgrade system seems like the best yet, bringing back stuff like
str/dex scaling paths
, and keeping things pretty accessible so far. I already want to upgrade a ton of strength weapons just for this one character, and that's not even touching all of the other weapons/spells/etc. After Bloodborne, it's so nice to have this type of replayability (and more exciting loot drops). I love BB but the Souls games are the most replayable games ever for me and, well this game might ruin my life.

Thank you, I followed your suggestion and then committed suicide and it fixed the issue.

Completely at a loss to where im going. If anyone can point me in the right direction. Im
past pontiff and old demon king. I see the giant spinning elevator but I dont know how to activate it.

Well no, that's why I was asking. I meant more like, does it feel mechanically off that people prefer to avoid it.

Some of these attacks has no build up at all, fucking fast.

Silver knights and black knights from DS1 move in bullet time compared to some of these fuckers.

Yeah there seemed to be some really dangerous stuff early on already. In that sense I understand of course, but I was wondering if something felt off about the mechanic itself.

The Katana did look really awesome, nice that you're able to pull if off well then. Sounds like it's doable at least, so that's good to hear. Albeit it very dangerous as others mentioned.

If I download the Japanese Xbox one version can I load my save game from the English version and play online?
Can you even have the same game from 2 regions installed at once?

Try to switch to Offline mode from the menu.
I think if you go into offline mode, your "spirit status" gets erased.

edit: or yeah cut off you internet rather, like Fakeknowledge said.

R2 art attack is a parry, although it can change depending of the katana, I guess.

I actually very doable, but dangerous, nothing hurts as much as faling a parry and proceed to getting stunlocked lol.

But I'd say is a very necessary thing if you plan a not suing a shield.

Am I on the right track? After some wandering after the cursed greatwood I've come across another boss which is
crystal mage

Update, your icon darkening out absolutely means you're cursed, lol. Ended up buying a anit curse token from
the lady that replaces the sorcery npc after he levels youp up too many times.
and it took it away. Also I don't think i've wanted to kill an npc for their armor more than I did at that moment.

Just encountered the 5th boss, had him one hit away on my first attempt. At first the game seemed really linear but then after the 3rd boss it really opened up a lot, I've been overwhelmed by all the different directions to explore. Also, UUUUUUGGGGGHHHH, blightown 2.0 (not literally.) Why Miyazaki why
