Dark Souls III [Import OT] Kindle the fire, one last time

I. Saw. It. He. Saw. It. Are you fucking dense or what?

Believe what you want, I'm done arguing with idiots.

It's not fucking hard to understand. We're talking enemies and bosses doing less damage by a factor of 2-3, not like, 10%. Like 200-300%.

Yeah I haven't seen that at all. What area was this in? Maybe that has something to do with it.

I just tested them side-by-side in the starting area with the very first enemy that you encounter, both versions using Knight characters, and the same hit did 53 damage on PS4 and Xbone. Damage dealt was also identical between the two.

I'm 10 hours in on the Xbone version, and it hasn't felt easier than the PS4 version by any means...I guess it's a bug of some sort.

Unless there's that much difference between the knight set and the mercenary set, definetly looks like he's taking way less damage than me. I would take 2 or 3 hits to kill me.

lol yeah if that video isn't proof enough I don't know what is. That dude does pitiful damage in the unpatched version. He's raw as fuck in 1.01.

Boss spoiler, but look at the damage Peeve is taking (and look at chat) at the fight at the 6 hour 20 minutes mark. It's piss easy. He was doing like 3 times more damage to me. https://www.twitch.tv/peeve/v/56482554

I was watching an Xbox One stream yesterday and seen a guy getting 1-2 shotted repeatedly. If it is indeed nerfed, then god damn is all I can say. But I am doubting that is the case. When has a developer ever made one version of a game easier than another?

Its for review copies, the JPN version of the game on X1 will no doubt be exactly the same

I'm assuming its just the first two areas that the press played early. Things sure as hell hit hard where I'm at in the game.

Actually this would make sense. ManVsGame was also saying its just like the pre release stuff they played in San Francisco.

Wouldnt surprise me if the game difficulty is normalized after those initial areas.

Its unpatched. The X1 version is what they played at the Pre-release event in San Fran.

Holy shit. Want.

What set is that? And found in
The Road of Sacrifices
, I presume from the screenshot?
I think so (I'm not sure of the area names cuz of JP text). It's right near the water where all those crabs are. Very close to the bonfire.

Here are some better pics. I need a flame sword.

Can you try doing the same thing with the first boss?

Yeah, I was watching the Japanese version. The game looked like the hardest Souls game yet with ease to me, lol. Some of the best looking areas and the best enemy design as well. I was pretty blown away.

You know despite this being my favourite series I really want feeling any hype for this game. It's taken me a while to it but 5 bosses on I'm really loving it now, the gameplay feels great.

They didn't make the xbox one version different... it's just NOT PATCHED like the other versions. God damn... some of you guys..

Weapon damage output is different for certain weapons and enemies do different amounts of damage to you. Not to mention certain enemies have more/less life points. They've simply changed some values... but it's noticeably easier. LMAO to the guy who said I was bullshitting..

Interesting. I've recreated this on my Xbox version and it seems like there is 30% more damage dealt on PS4 in this scenario. Now the next step would be to confirm this for a later area. At these damage levels 30% doesn't make much of a difference but for bosses it might.
What's weird is that with exact same character (base knight without armor) I only deal 60 damage to that guy, as opposed to 73 like you do in both videos. But at least this confirms that the nerf only applies to damage taken.

A recommended video from IGN on YT just spoiled one of the bosses for me. Thanks and fuck you, IGN. Rage.

If you're waiting for Dark Souls 3 Youtube is a fuckin hellscape atm. Watch any vid on DS3 and you immediately have multiple area and boss spoilers in your recommended list.

There's a difference. Tons of things have been changed and tweaked all over the game. You cant run and test values for everything.

It's why when a lot more than just one person says there's an obvious difference, and even NAMCO says there's differences, people should just take their word for it unless you can prove them otherwise.

Xb1 version is super easy? Jeez I must be super shit at this then. I'm 4 bosses in and had problems with certain parts.

I don't think Namco has said anything about the difficulty differences, though? If there was an official statement saying the unpatched version was deliberately easier I'd imagine we wouldn't even be having this discussion

But yeah, going by the videos posted it does seem some enemies are indeed weaker on the unpatched/Xbone version. That's enough proof for me, now some of you can finally take a chill pill.

Curious that it looks like they've actually spent time tweaking shit. If it was made easier just for previews, you'd think just dropping all enemy stats to xx% would make more sense.

How do I get past the two dragons in
Lothric Castle?

I already explored the rest of the place, seems to be the only way in...?

I'm fairly far now into the game, but I think I missed an optional boss very early into the game.
How do I get to that Taurus demon reskin looking mini boss? I saw someone on a stream fighting him but it was right as he killed him. Never came across that guy.

Well, there's that.. but then there's also simply changes that they themselves wanted to make..I'm sure. I'm sure they've nerfed areas that were way too hard before as well. Probably basing a bit of it off not only their own playtesting, but perhaps reviewers feedback as well.

That is such a nice puzzle. Do you really want to spoil it for yourself?

Fall down from the bridge. Follow the path. Cross the courtyard to the other side. In this room you get the opportunity to kill the first dragon

Yeah, that's what I kinda meant, it's just that I'm on mobile so writing long posts is a pain. People have been implying it was easier just for preview purposes, but I'm sure 1.00 has been ready for weeks, maybe even months, and they've just decided to do general difficulty tweaking ever since.

Whatever the reason, it is what it is. I wonder if I could somehow play 1.00 on PC when it comes out.

I was watching Peeve's stream last night... he was at a part I had just completed myself. I kept asking myself how the heck he was taking such little damage from the enemies/bosses. He was on the xbone version. I guess that explains it. Is this only for US players playing the xbone version or did they basically release two versions of the same game on accident? I'd be pretty pissed off if I had been playing what is basically an easy mode version of the game.

I have hit my skill ceiling with the Gr
and
Arc
hieves
boss
the prince
, so I would appreciate advice on any optional path that I have missed:

The bosses I have killed are
Vordt, Rotted Greatwood, Crystal Sage, Deacons of the Deep, Abyss Watchers, High Lord Wolmir, Pontiff Sulyvahn, Yhorm, Aldrich, Dancer, Consumed Oceiros, Champion Gundyr, Dragonslayer Armour

I have one lead that I never resolved: in the catacombs
there is a lake with some items visible just before the Wolmir boss fight. How do I get there?

It's a unpatched version. version 1.01 is launch and they're running version 1.0.

Presumably it'll update when the games launches proper in the United States.

Well I'll play through :p I'm guessing this is essentially a single player tweak. Do souls bosses get harder with more players usually?

Holy crap at the performance in
the graveyard after the Crystal Sage
, it's even worse than Blighttown
I thought my Xbox was going to die during the cathedral boss.

Gotta completely disagree with that. So far I haven't seen anything that comes close to Blightown by any margin. Blighttown is forever the worst.

Only thing where I've noticed its consistently kind of bad is
the part of the poison swamp where the giant goat people are
.
