Dark Souls III [Import OT] Kindle the fire, one last time

ok i need 8 items to upgrade a weapon and google translate says

wedge stone shining

what the fuck is that

"Wedge Stone" or 楔石 is Titanite in English.

Not sure what Shining is... have a screenshot?

This game has engrossed me in the same way the original Dark Souls and Bloodborne did. When I'm not playing it, I'm thinking about it constantly.

I never double dip, but think I'll make the exception here. Caved and bought the Xbox version to play it early, but still want it on PS4 since that's where I usually play the Souls games, plus the fact it seems the unpatched version is supposedly easier than the updated one means I'll want to play from the very beginning pretty soon anyway.

Same for me mate. I'm itching to get back on it. I bought the xb1 version for that early play bonus but I'll be mainly playing the ps4 version when it's out in the UK as most of my souls buddies for co op are on that system.

OMG

The
snowy area

Incredible

Amazing

THIS GAME.

GOTY and GOTG and everything.

Need to take a break, I want to enjoy it and savour it slowly.

Git Gud son!

(Nah, he is hard, beat it first try, but almost got killed)
Btw you are only about half way, you sounded like you thought you were finishing soon xD

A lot of people, that's who. The first two games were rather meaty, and even if you were to remove some of the later areas of Dark Souls, it was still a lot longer than Bloodborne (which tried to make up for the shortness of the main game with the Chalice Dungeon shit). I don't need, or want it to be 60+ or anything ridiculous either, but sub 30 hours just seems ridiculously short, if that's the case here.

I'm replaying Bloodborne right now and going through the Chalice Dungeons and am having a blast. Some awesome boss fights, be they solo or co-op, exist there. The fact that I already got a platinum and still feel like going through the dungeons says a lot.

The optional areas in BB were also amazing (I'm looking at you, Cainhurst Castle).

The Old Hunters has been a blast so far, as well.

Just a terrific damn game top to bottom.

got the
warrior of sunlight covenant and the blue one (?), i assume the blue one makes it so you cannot be invaded. what does the sunlight do?

I'm overwhelmed with one optional area and disappointed with another

the dragon area is awesome. great level design and it's the brightest area in the series which is good and it's already one of my all time favorite areas in the serie

the demon area was shit. the little swampy place with worm were cool, but the majority was another chalice dungeon. at the very least I was expecting something like demon ruins :(

How do I reach those optional areas?

The blue covenant brings people from other covenant to help you against invaders, the sunlight is normal co-op, but you get sunbro medals after helping people defeat bosses, which in turn, will give you rewards after you turn them in.

Still only a couple of hours in (3 bosses down including tutorial guy), but man, this is an incredibly well done game.

Just did some jolly cooperation for the first time with two other players and they really let you roam around a big area! We plowed through a ton of enemies and toppled the boss of the area. What a great time.

It was my first time in the area, though, so I'm going to go back through it alone next time and really explore it.

How do I reach those optional areas?

to reach the demons area cut the bridge robs and then use it as a ladder.

to reach the GOAT dragon area sit next the dragon guy statues with one of the sitting gestures in the prison area out side of the room where there are frenzy ladies 2.0

the NPC questlines i've experienced are pretty damn good in this. FromSoft really addressed the issue of them being mediocre in DS2 and BB.

How do you do the move where you turn a bit red for 10 sec and do a bit more damage? Warrior can do it at start of game

Thanks!

And what about that
second firelink shrine area I've been hearing about, that area is optional too?

Optional
Dragon
area could have easily been a dlc. what a great area and bosses.

Thanks!

Yes it's optional as well.
after that seath looking ugly dragon boss go until what looks like a dead end and hit the wall

So I am in an area similar to
Tower of Latria
from Demon's Souls. I'm lost, can't get anywhere. Any help? D:

you are lost at the very beginning?

Yeah. Can't find out where to go at all

Question about that area:
I got to the end, rang the bell, and went up the hill and prayed to the altar and got an item. What does it do? Is there anything I may have missed? I prayed at an earlier altar after the second bonfire and got the ring. How do I use the dragon stones to turn myself into one?

Fine by me. This character is such shit it's not even funny. Miracles suck so starting as a cleric immediately gimped me. Stats are all over the place.

Someone else was saying that it seemed like Sorcery was pretty weak in this too (and according to various sites, you start with a ring that actually boosts the damage). So did FROM just decide that instead of releasing the game with magic "OP" (according to the minority PvP crowd that doesn't use it) at the start, and then gutting it, they just decided to release it in a weakened state and be done with it?

I mean, theoretically with estus you can fire off way more magic. Quantity over quality now, you'd be forced to engage more than you did when 2 shotting was a thing.

I feel like if it was really good you could rock 8 ash estus flasks and it would be pretty unfair.

Can't really say much one way or another without knowing the full list of Sorceries and Pyromancies, but with the way bows were buffed, I don't really see what the purpose of Sorcery would be now if it's quantity over quality. Pyromancy was always a shorter range with a longer casting time, but it also did more damage usually too, and its projectiles still reacher farther than any melee weapon.

You guys act like it was hard to restore uses in Dark Souls 2 or something. This isn't coming from someone that only wants to stand at range and spam Soul Arrows all day either.

From elsewhere:

Pretty much near the end of the game on a sorc build. It's pretty trash tbh.
Even faith spells are hitting harder than magic.
So imo no magic is garbage unless your mixing it with a sword because atm long cast times, weaker damage in comparison to other spell crafts for less effort and better rewards.

Unless someone finds something mage is mediocre at best.

Pyro is freakishly good

Just 4 shotted one of the great bosses .

Pyro might be the new, easy mode
