Dark Souls III [Import OT] Kindle the fire, one last time

PS4 players got it easy with CO-OP. Xbox players have to solo everything, which isn't bad. I'm having fun, but I have more grinding for souls to do.

Spill!

Also, I just got to (mid-game spoiler):
The Freezing Village, Izalith

HO-RI-SHI-E-TSU.

Edit: Post 5000. Praise the sun.
Those are two very different areas that you can access around the same time lol

XBOX players currently have the super easy baby's first souls NG- version though. Unless you're talking about the Japanese Xbox version, but that should have co-op right?

i'm at the bottom of the tower after the
tree fight and i'm stuck on this frost dude with a sword. i think he's killed me 10 times now, and the run to get back to him sucks! is there a bonfire closer than the dilapidated bridge one? is there a bonfire right after i kill this guy?

If you run right past him you immediately hit a bonfire

People need to Co-Op in DS3? Got the PS4 version and my IP has now apparently been blocked by PSN, so playing in JP with no online. Lost my save after 6 bosses and had to start over, this run I've cleared every boss so far on 1st attempt solo including 2 I didn't fight before my save was corrupted.

It really only feels like a baby mode during bosses though. Everything else feels as intended. Game's rough, lol.

I tried searching all over for answers. I'm not sure. From all the YouTube videos, all I see are PS4 players playing co-op and the Dark Souls III wiki is still in early development. IGN has every single boss detailed, but it's still in its early development. NO direct answer about Japanese XBOX servers outside of the day 1 patch for the English language version.

I have been playing on Xbox One with it still lynced to US servers... I don't know if someone in Japan, who is playing on their Xbox, has the patch. Apparently the day 1 patch adds co-op, but does that mean only the US?

Edit: What if I switched my region on my Xbox console to Japan instead of the US (switch languages), could I play online?

That sucks, I wonder why you were blocked. That doesn't sound right. They shouldn't block you.

was pretty hairy to get to.

I killed the old woman with the banner in the first area (and the boss fight which was hard but I barely did it with the help of a phantom) and then a ladder appears behind her. this goes to a castle area with BRUTALLY hard enemies.

I worked my way through until I got to the area with two big drakes on the bridge. I managed to run past the drakes and do some stuff inside then the drakes were dead for some reason. not sure why.

eventually I got to the boss fog gate but instead kept looking around and eventually I found the altar, which was near an unlocked shortcut that takes you back near to the original ladder behind the woman.

so Im at the sunlight altar now and I happened to have 10 medals. I turned em in and got my first reward

I don't know what it's called, google translate interprets the title as "oath hard" and the description is a big nonsensical but the words "attack power" are in it. I think it's a weapon buff.

I have 24 faith and it requires 28, so I can't test it yet. But I think it sounds like a weapon buff.

edit: here's another look at it, if anyone can translate

Completely unnecessary to kill him. Just open the door, lose aggro, and activate the next bonfire.

aint gonna read the spoilers because I wanna find it myself but dope. I've been doing some Sun Bro'ing on the side and was wondering what the fuck I do with my medals.

Um, no. Game is still plenty challenging, just not quite the same level of brutality as maybe the patched version. This isn't Kirby's Epic Yarn, you'll still get crushed plenty. And this is coming from someone who's Plat'd every Souls game.

Awesome, thanks! I looked up the miracle and it is this one, from Dark Souls 2! http://darksouls.wikia.com/wiki/Sacred_Oath

Edit: Yep; translating the description it just says it increases your Attack and Defense, so it is definitely Sacred Oath. The Japanese name is more akin to "Firm Oath" or "Oath that won't be easily broken".

Btw, according to this Japanese Wiki, after pledging
30 sunbro tokens
, you will receive the
Great Lightning Spear miracle
.

Lived Bloodborne to pieces, and I'm a bit iffy on the game. What's the consensus?

lacks the "magic x factor" that the first 2/3 or so of dark souls had, but I don't think that can be recaptured.

other than that, though, it's generally the best souls game, better than bloodborne, and without question in my mind the absolute hardest souls by a golden mile. the game is fucking evil. evil.

I was about to have a heart attack there too, but there is a bonfire nearby.

The ONLY fire is that starting one but from that area you can go down a hallway and find an elevator that leads to the door.

Still the most insane area I've seen, my damn weapon was about to break.

I love that area... It was the first area in the game where I went full on real Dark Souls 1 with literally praying for a bonfire and feeling like almost crying when I found the shortcut. (It's not the first area where I was really looking for a bonfire, but this was the first time I felt as desperate as I remember being at times playing Dark Souls 1)

If the bosses are doing 3x less damage, at least the boss battles should be around Kirby's Epic Yarn levels.

one question: is it hard?

being a hard game is a huggggge turn off for me, im wondering if theres a easy mode or its possible to grind so that levels/sections become easier.

i just wanna take in the atmopshere and the feel of the game...

Go through the graveyard near that closed door bonfire and clear the massive area.

I have and it leads me to another giant locked door and a shortcut back to a bonfire. I walked around the water area with the larva monsters and nothing but dead ends.

You're better off staying away from this one or trying one of the previous games since they're cheaper now. It's a very tough.

If you loved Bloodborne then you will love this game. It's better in every way IMO. (Bloodborne is my least fav souls game btw). Big difference is that the combat is fast but you can't be as aggressive as Bloodborne. More like strategic aggression - unless you do a straight strength build.

No offense but after 4 games are you really asking if a Souls game is hard?

Grinding is an option but at some point you just have to learn to tackle stuff. The game's not unfair and doesn't really require a lot of twitchy gameplay, but you're going to be freaking out a lot. Smart gameplay will take you very far.

ill start with darksouls 1 then, real slow:)

People with the game, is there an option to have the HUD disappear when not in combat? I really liked that about DS2 (and so did my plasma).

Yup, you can have it auto turn off when you aren't in combat and just turn it off in general.

Keep your shield up and don't underestimate enemies you've already killed and you'll be good. Half the time i die in these games is going into a room i've done before and getting wrecked because i didn't think anything in there could hurt me :p

i was waiting untill they announce a easy mode... lol man.everything i love in a game is this, but the hard difficulty prevents me from enjoying it ::(((
Do a strength build with points in strength, vigor, endurance and vitality. Then abuse the white soapstone and co-op as much as possible. That's easy mode.

This is not a lie, especially the co-op part.

where's
anri in the catacomb?

I found her in two spots.

The first is kinda hard to explain, but it's before the one staircase where a skeleton ball falls down. Instead of going down those stairs, there's a side path that leads down to a crystal lizard with her in the hallway.

I found her again near the end by the creaking bridge, she's to the right before you cross.

That's cool that Anri switches genders, probably for that one quest.
Where is anri? I finished the catacombs (and never want to go back). Did I miss her?

Also, PRAISE THE SUN I FOUND THE ELEVATOR IN THE CATHEDRAL! Happiest moment of my, errr, night. Love this area now.

Just defeated the Deacons of the Deep. Sick boss fight with a cool concept. Then, I went back to the Road of Sacrifices. I went to the right side of the area and saw a Black Knight. I was very close to dispatching it until I ran out of stamina and I got murked. Calling it quits for tonight.

God damn that area after the
catacombs
.....

And I thought DS3 wasn't gonna top Bloodborne in the visual department. Man was I wrong.

What's the area called anyways, jp version makes it hard to figure out.

To each its own but I always found it bizarre spoiler tagging boss names. I mean maybe if its a returning boss or somethimg I can understand it but in general, what does a name spoil?

"I just defeated The Mother Of Endless Agony"

"Fuck, im so angry now that I know that boss is...a...lady?"

Just a pet peeve, carry on :p

Pretty sure it's the Blue Sentinel character.

The B
lack Iron
Greatshield is awesome. After upgrading it to +9 it will have stability 71, physical absorption 83, magic/dark absorption 69, and lightning absorption 53, but it only weighs 14.5. It is so nice to be able to quick roll and deflect serious enemy attacks with the same gear.

If this is anywhere near true I'd be surprised, sounds like hyperbole. Bosses still take off over half my health in a single hit (and I'm running a heavily armored, high vigor build), all the time, so that doesn't sound right.

It would completely absurd to be killed from a boss in a single hit with my build, I'm not buying it.
