I feel the same way. Age of Ultron was boring in comparison. Quicksilver dying was like whatever, he was cooler on X-men anyway.
The only things that seemed out of place in BvS were
the dream sequence, the Flash cameo, and the metahuman clips, specially Cyborg's because it was almost a mini B-movie.

Fixed that for you.

That part was schlocky and stupid as shit.

Folks invited me to see this today, and since I don't spend enough time with them these days, I conceded to watching this.

Anyways, I just got back and...

5/10

Quick bullet point review
Cons
- editing was just fucking trash - all of it
- With the exception of Ben and Irons, everyone was doing the definition of phoning in or over-exaggeration
- I am up for many grounded or serious takes on the superhero genre, but christ, the edge in here got way out of hand.
- The writing is just stupid and any potentially good ideas they were setting up went the worst possible way. Especially the JL stuff.

Pros
- Even if it defeats the purpose of why I like the character in the first place, everything Batman was swell and on that note
- The action and visuals made me grin a bit. The one thing Snyder defs excels at...albeit way too much
- Didn't like the music at first, but it grew on me.

Saw it last weekend, loved it! Whole cinema was whooping and cheering during the entire Batman v. Superman
followed by Doomsday
fight. Think I may go again this weekend, since I got some other friends who are itching to watch as well but couldn't get tickets last week.

I'm only a little iffy on a couple of things...
- Lex Luthor. Couldn't really see Eisenberg as Lex. I'm more for the traditional, confident gentleman genius Lex in the comics that this wirey hyper ADD Lex.
- The rest of the Justice League. I'm not having a good feeling for Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg... which really isn't helping my confidence for the product. They all just look so... off.

Just got back from and oh boy. What a terrible mess. I loved MoS and I fucking despise this.

It deserves the 30% rating. Snyder needs to go if they want salvage what they have left.

This movie gave me a headache. Like... I don't even know where to begin. What really aggravated me was.. why did lois lane need to be in almost every fucking scene. Jesus christ.

I really hope they get Barry and Arthur right..
fuck Barry

I honestly wish he was a tad faster in his cameo. Like so fast that the audience had to struggle to catch it.

Reposted from the box office thread:

Just got back from BvS.

I thought the reviews were hyperbole. I was wrong.

What's sad is that even understanding all the tongue in cheek references to the classic Batman/Superman films, even knowing who Wonder Woman and Doomsday are, it still didn't make sense. Impenetrable is the best way I could describe it to non fans. And the fight scenes aren't even good. Even the titular one. How does that happen?

It's not a compelling Bat story, or an uplifting Superman story. Wonder Woman is just...there. And she's a spot monkey. Lex's motivations are inconsistent or never explained. The moral quandary of great power/great responsibility is never addressed after the halfway point.

And it just ends. They may as well have called this Justice League: Part 1. It's in no way a standalone film.

This movie is going to be a success only because everyone want to watch for themselves as they can't belive that it can be so bad. Most of my friends are going to see the movie for this reason ,some of which who have no interest in this kind of movie originally...

Thinking that this will become a transformer level of success for DC.

Edit

Shit this is supposed to be in the box office thread. Ahh....

Just saw it. Really entertaining movie. It had great pacing. Lex felt really out of place. A few cringe worthy, nonsensical moments and some bad fight scenes but I liked what it did. I think it sets up the universe well and I am excited to see where this goes.

I definitely like it better than the last avengers. It a very flawed movie but is does not deserve all the hate it gets imo.

Some bad fight scenes? Dude there were like 4 or 5 tops, the pacing was probably the worst thing about it. I actually enjoyed the fights scenes.

Oh my god this movie was was awful. It has some really solid acting, particularly from Affleck and one really cool Batman action sequence.. but otherwise. Wow that was bad.

For context, I liked Man of Steel and don't really know the comics.

No. This movie was all about redeeming Bruce from the broken, bitter mess that he had turned into. It's essentially a second origin story. I highly doubt we'll see Batman act this way in future films.

Even if that is true and the "broken" Bruce is only for this movie, does he suddenly stop
using guns
as well?

I wouldn't be surprised if Snyder oversees a Batman film or any other DC solo film since it would seem that these characters are his interpretation and he'd want them to be aligned a certain way for these Justice League movies. As much as people want to try to pretend this movie just didn't happen, it will be a reference point for everything to come after it, at the very least.

That's good then. People should watch things themselves rather than going by the opinion of others.

If there is ever a movie out that I'm aware of I typically don't even pay attention to reviews as I want to go in fresh. Sure there's other characters out there but this was made up of two of the most iconic - Superman and Batman. The world's biggest heroes together in live action for the first time. I figure it is a must see, no matter the quality whether people ultimately think it the best movie ever or worst movie ever. Just have to see it to see what their debut appearance together is like.

Also Wonder Woman's first film appearance too, and after seeing it she was my fave part.

Went to see it yesterday with my lass, and we both thoroughly enjoyed it.

Whilst it's editing is definitely ropey (too many dream sequences with poor cuts), I think it's gotten a ridiculously bad rep.

Criticised for being too slow/too much exposition in the first half by some, but then being 'too much action' by others.

I actually enjoyed the first half of the movie better than the 2nd - i'd agree the doomsday fight was lacking tension in places, but it was rescued by Gal Gadot for me, regardless of all the controversy when she was announced I think she rocked.

Some real good parts for me - the whole back and forth between Wayne and Kent looking at both sides of vigilante justice, was pretty well done I thought.

Best bit was Batman rescuing Martha - great sequence, really brutal combat.

I even liked Eissenbergs unhinged Luthor, though I can see why others don't like him (I think Eissenberg himself is very divisive generally)

I'd give it a good solid 7.5/10, and with a Directors Cut / tighter editing it could be better.

It was better than Ultron by a good way to me.

Our theater was silent most of the showing earlier tonight, and it was a packed house. I swear I'm not lying, there were like 4 or 5 people clapping at the end but they stopped really shortly after when they realized nobody else was joining them.

My theater was all silence..heard a few laughs here and there but at the end silence. My guess nobody had any clue what was going on neither did i since it was an incoherent mess of a movie.

Said it in the RT thread this movie to me was a mess..

I watched the movie this way with almost every scene..

By the way, I feel like I'm going crazy based on the thread responses here regarding this, but the WW theme was kinda shit whenever it played.

Just came back from the move and I honestly cant believe this movie is sitting on RT at 29. Really critics? Is it that bad of a movie? ridiculous

Anyway, loved the whole thing personally. Yes there were moments in the script, writing and direction that weren't great but its no where to the level that I'd call this a bad movie, not even close. Had a huge grin in my face when batman and superman faced each other for the first time in costumes, loved that scene.

Overall 8/10, great movie. Going again on tuesday to watch it a 2nd time. Will also get the director's cut for the 3 hour edit.

Critics aren't giving it 3's by in large, it's mostly 5's.

RT really just shows how many people felt positive about it. 8/10 it certainly isn't, at least objectively speaking.

So finally saw it, I must say I am surprised. It is still dumb, but not as dumb as I thought.

AND GAF YOU LIED - THIS ISN'T A BATMAN MOVIE IT'S A SUPERMAN MOVIE. Also you guys suck, Supes didn't suffer in this film as far as character goes, in fact I'd argue he stood up from his MoS crap. It's Batman who's an idiot and a bully in this case.

And I remember the spoiler dude who said something about
the courthouse
scene. He lied. That guy should be slapped.

Though it still has some problems, like I said Batman is way, WAY out of character. Though personally I'd like to think this film as a nice "critique" against TDKReturns.

I'm not sure what to think of Lex. He is interesting but at the same time he feels like a mix up of Carrey's Riddler and Heather's Joker.

Doomsday isn't spoiler territory right? I remember seeing him in trailers. Anyway the only thing I'd want to say about him is that they should really keep him Supes only. He kinda loses his luster if other heroes join up to get him.

Also I never how nice Uncle Scar would be for Alfred.

Mediocre but has nice moments/10.

Batman > Superman? More like Superman > some guy in a batsuit.

Is this an American thing?

I've never heard clapping ever during any movie. Only laughter.
And once the credits role everyone always leaves straight away.

I liked it.

There are parts of the movie that could use some room to breathe and some scenes that honestly felt rushed or useless and should have been cut out of the film. Pacing felt like a Transformers sequel. But overall, I enjoyed what I saw and I can comfortably say this movie is better than Man of Steel. Batfleck lived up to my expectations, Superman was more likeable, the cast was great, story was good enough, decent amount of action, and the visuals were top notch.

If MoS was 5/10 to me, I give this movie a solid 7/10. It's not something I have the urge to watch again. I do feel like this is one of those movies that I will dislike the more I watch and break it down. Hopefully not.

I'm with you. I saw it Friday and today I still think very highly of it after letting it sink in. I want to see it again, and I'm gonna buy the shit out of the collector's edition.

Same with mine, but that's typical. There was zero claps or anything for TFA and Creed! It's a weird theater....
