At the Easter gathering I actually overheard family members discussing the film. Basically it was to long and messy though Batfleck was good though too violent.

I haven't read anything in this thread and just came out from the cinema, and holy shit what a movie.

Dare I say it's close to being up there among the best cbm.

What a spectacle.

Doomsday
is so generic-looking, man. Is it a faithful comic adaptation?

Not even close. Not even after all of his transformations.

If they had stuck with the comic design he would have been at least a bit cool, even though he had no business being in the film to begin with.

No, I remember Doomsday looking much cooler in the comics.

I knew this movie was going to be pure shit when basically every major plot point was spoiled in the fucking trailers... That's always a sure sign that the execs know the movie is pure shit and they're trying to get as many people to the theater as possible before word gets out.

Our theater was silent most of the showing earlier tonight, and it was a packed house. I swear I'm not lying, there were like 4 or 5 people clapping at the end but they stopped really shortly after when they realized nobody else was joining them.

I'm not American but is this a surprising thing? I've never been at film where people have cheered or clapped during or after. Cinemas are generally silent.

I jump around in front of the tv when watching sports and my team wins an important match. I also clap if the collective clap during a premiere, always makes it more fun and more like a shared experience.

Does that one superman look weird?

I still don't understand why you'd clap in a cinema.

do americans clap after getting blown or what?

So you clap at your tv, too?

Clapping in a movie theater is dumb. They can't hear you.
Jeez, tough crowd. Obviously we know they (film creators) can't hear us, it's just a form of expression. Films are a cultural highlight of the human species. We watch them together with other people, they take thousands of man hours to create, dedicated human beings who act for our entertainment, etc. They're a spectacle for the eyes unique for our species. When one is really well done and brings happiness to people, maybe they like to express that through some joyous clapping...

Try not to think too hard about it lol.

Posted in the spoiler thread, won't do it here because it's long, but roughly:

A disaster in very many respects - filmically, being truly ignorant of its many target audiences, narratively - but so bizarre and crazy and wild and singular in its ambition (its a superhero movie that wants to be anything else for its first 100 minutes, and begrudgingly becomes so for the rest) that I can't help but admire it.

This movie was the worst thing I've ever seen in my life.

Nah, it wasn't that terrible, but yes it was bad. I'd definitely rate it under all of the recent Marvel movies and even under MoS, but better than Fant4stic, Affleck's Daredevil, and Green Lantern. BvS had some pretty good parts despite it's overall horridness, and Affleck's Batman alone raises the movie a good margin (although I hated how homicidal he was). The RT score feels about right to me, sadly.

I loved the movie. Saw it yesterday in the first 4DX theater in my country.

I recommend everyone to watch or re-watch the movie in the 4D (with regular 3D included) format.
I can't wait for the Justice League movie! :)

In a crowded movie theater? I'm pretty sure that's commonly seen as a dick move.

Clapping at the end of a movie is not a dick move. I always thought it was weird to clap at the end of a movie, then when I was in high school our Art of Film teacher had us clap at the end of every screening of a movie, and it kind of became second nature. To me it shows an appreciation for the art and experience of movies itself, whether or not you thought the movie was good or not it became a natural thing to do for me.

Working out to the soundtrack of BvS this morning, and man I can't wait to see the extended version of this.

I've been to two. Snakes on a Plane and Inglorious Basterds.

Me either. I can totally see how this will hopefully get even better when given more breathing room.

More or less I found it hilarious and cheesy. It doesn't help that it was used in strange ways earlier.

I remember listening to it a month ago and thinking it sounded badass, but when it actually started during those moments in the film, it was cringe inducing.

Wow this movie really does bring out the worst of us lol.

I liked it, which is surprising after I hated Man of Steel so much. My only major complaint is that there was no motivation for Batman and Superman to have any beef with each other, but beyond that contrived bullshit (which I've had since the title reveal to get resigned to), I was pleasantly surprised.

Superman was much more in character than in MoS. Wonder Woman was badass (maybe too much so, but okay by me). Batman was fairly on point.
Doomsday
was less dumb than ever, though of course still dumb.

Not bad. Now I'm looking forward to future films with much more optimism.

Just saw it, need time to surmise and digest it but overall not impressed :/

Seemed awfully poorly paced and so dense with plot it was easy to lose track of who was who, and what was going on :/
Frankly, it was just pretty dull, especially the first hour

So this movie is the polar opposite of Batman & Robin? Dumb childish fun and lacking any intelligence vs. a dour and joyless contrived mess lacking any intelligence?

Is noisy cinemas a North American thing, or something? I've seen quite a few people discuss it. Here in the UK people are usually silent while the film is on (except for laughing), and maybe we're stuck up, but I think we'd be mortified if people were whooping and making noise throughout.

Sounds like it. Outside of special screenings (when I saw the Cornetto Trilogy back to back in the UK there was a pre-taped video before Shaun of the Dead where Wright, Pegg and Frost told us to clap at each use of "Fuck" in the movie) and laughing at comedies it's always quiet... except for people talking on their phones but that's rare.

Definitely an American thing. UK as well and I've never heard anything other than laughs at jokes.

Thank you. What a odd bunch? Clapping, laughing, gasping is perfectly normal during a movie. When you watch sports game at a bar we all cheer and clap. The players can't obviously hear you but it's the experience. You are excited, happy, or sad. People think it's normal not to show emotion?

so just laughing? what happens if it's a horror movie nobody gasps or screams. Come on! This can't be true?

What a fun movie, can't wait to watch it again with others next weekend.

My theater was pretty quiet too, but I don't think I've ever seen a movie where anyone was loud or clapped. Only thing is when people laughed (like when I watched deadpool).

Just saw it today for the third time, was the emptiest of the 3 showings. My mom was like "Wow I expected there to be more people" and then a guy and his wife said that they were expecting the same thing lol. Today is the beginning of spring break here so we figured it would be super crowded. It was mostly parents and kids this time.

No one laughed or cheered or anything I was surprised tbh. My brother also stayed back to see if there were after credits even though I had told him there weren't any. He said the few people that were left were booing because there wasn't one lol. I love how Marvel/ Disney/ Fox have made this an expectation with comic book movies.

Yea. I still contend that no after credit sequence is this movie's biggest mistake.
DC better slap after credits on every one of their movies from now on.

Now that I can't tell you. Never seen a horror in the cinema.

No idea why people get so annoyed when others question the clapping though.
