Quantum Break Gamersyde preview. HQ gameplay inside.

The visuals are no joke. The game looks a little boring and cliche. That vid where it is showing the shooting mechanic and they exchange bullets. And blood splatter just disappears of the main. I mean... C'mon.

But damn it looks impressive and the power effects will probably drag me in.

So should I remove this? I don't know if I am breaking any rules here, because, the video is on a official game channel on YouTube.

Should I?
You're not the one breaking embargo so I wouldn't worry. The guy that made the video? Not good.

The eyes and hair rendering is pretty terrible, eyes look like shiny balls with some specular, lacking wetness or environment reflections, and hair just looks like plastic.
Doesn't seem nearly as good as the reveal. While the hair was still crap, the eyes and the skin looked significantly better.

lip syncing isn't great in parts either. i remeber the reveal blowing my mind. and feeling it was a fair step above the likes of infamous second son or ryse. but it looks about on-par with those now. i agree about the skin shaders and hair too.

has anyone mentioned if that scene from the reveal is still in the game?

I think lip-syncing is tied to their performance capture process so it might be that only the main cast has very accurate lip-syncing while the supporting characters not so much, from what I've seen the main characters' lip-syncing is mostly perfect, definitely among the best I've seen.

It's not like KZ (which took an almost interlaced approach). I think it's actually closer to (though still different from) Rainbow Six Siege. The artefacts in motion are very similar and it takes a few frames after the camera stops to reach full clarity. I'm working on showing this in slow motion for the video as I think you'll be able to see if nicely.

Uncharted seems to be using something similar in places, no? Not only are shadows clearly dithered while in movement, but in the MP beta when selecting skins/taunts in the shop, the very first frame or two appeared to be checkered.

The tech is there, it's just scaled down in realtime like in every game. That's why the "loading" cutscenes look a lot better.

Dithered shadows seems to be a thing on these consoles, it's better than the sawtooth crap that was common on ps360, but kinda disappointing since we had some smooth shadows in games like Crysis, Metro and some others.

SPOILER? #1
and look: Old Jack Joyce is still in the game, but it seems like a fast appearance.

In one of the streams I was watching, he was the character that accompanies you if you choose hardline in the first junction point. His character's name is Nick.

It is. I can't remember the exact source I heard that from, but it might have been from Game Informer's Sam Lake interview.

Was watching the first two videos thinking yeah graphics seem nice and gameplay looks fun, then clicked on the warehouse one and had my mind blown. That was fucking insane.

Yeah the warehouse thing is like he said very impressive and hopes Remedy gets all the praise for it. I agree. That must be hell to make.

The shooting looks amazingly satisfying. Can't wait to try it.

I can't even imagine how good this is going to look and play on PC. One more week.

Reviews hit Friday.

Our new preview with Act 2 footage is live: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D9fiiWmfXYE

Also got a full play through of Act 2 (well, the content we're allowed to show you!) that's uploading as I type.

One concern I've had with the content so far is that the TV stuff *constantly* buffers. I have a 200Mb wired connection, and even then it stutters and stops altogether.

Yea that warehouse segment looks incredible. Only downside is some of the shadows are quite low res and poor in quality, but you can't have everything. Must have taken an insane amount of time to animate the scene.

So the only way to get it on PC is through Windows store? Such a shame, is really like to try it but not like this.... Not like this...

Will the Warehouse become the new 'Collapsing Room' gif? haha

It does certainly seem like uncharted in a lot of ways

Mainly in that its not just about good graphics, but its about spectacle during game play.

What?

I'm on a sort of a backup SSD right now since my old HDD died a while back, I have to delete like every game I've got installed to get enough free space if this is true lol

http://gadgets.ndtv.com/games/news/your-quantum-break-download-on-the-xbox-one-could-end-up-being-120gb-818075

Saw it just now on my Facebook feed and almost fell out my chair!

The game's developer, Remedy Entertainment claimed that Xbox One owners would be able to download the live-action videos before the game hits. On booting up our Xbox One we noticed that the files are already available for download. Labelled as the Quantum Break Episode Pack, it weighs in at 75GB - the size of almost two entire games on the Xbox One. Although each episode is around 20 minutes, different versions of each video exist taking into account your choices before the game decides which version of an episode to show you.

As for the file size of the game itself, that's around 45GB. This makes for a combined 120GB of data should you wish not to be at the mercy of Microsoft's servers. Throw in the fact that a 500GB Xbox One has approximately 362GB free and you'll realise that a third of your storage space will be occupied by a single game.

How in the hell is the live-action content over 70 gigabytes? I thought there were only a handful of 20-minute episodes?

Good to hear the actual game isn't that big anywho

Good to hear the actual game isn't that big anywho

Yeah after all that's what matters!

This was interesting though!:

What's worse is if you buy the game on disc, you won't have the TV episodes on it. So if you want the complete Quantum Break experience you'll either have to stream them in 1080p or download them before playing. Neither of which seem like feasible solutions for those who do not have the bandwidth to spare.

Luckily I'm not capped.
Sucks for those who are though!

The release of Quantum Break is drawing close, as there is only a little more than a week left to April 5th. Today we bring you our second video preview for the game, showing a large chunk of act 2.

While the story gets hectic right away, act 2 is when things really start to get interesting from a gameplay point of view. Enemies attack you in bigger and more coordinated groups, and we start seeing some really nasty shotgunners that not only can positively ruin Jack Choice’s day if they get close, but they’re also massively armored requiring a lot of effort to bring down.

The game keeps looking fantastic, with especially in its environments. Remedy put a lot of attention into designing the warehouse where the second act is said, and the rusted and run-down textures are a joy for the eyes.

Time puzzles also start to become more than a gimmick, a promising feature that hopefully will become more complex and challenging at the game proceeds.

We also start seeing the first glimpse of character progression, with Jack gathering Chronon sources that turn into points that can be used to evolve his main powers.

Last, but definitely not least, we see get to see something quite mysterious, but I won’t spoil it.

CDkeys is even cheaper now. They have a easter deal on the game.
Still not sure if this version also with crossbuy.

I picked it up at SimplyGames for £39. I figure I'll trade it in after the first week or two and probably still get back around £30-33. I can always buy it again later down the line for much cheaper if I need to replay it a third time. Hopefully I get the game a day or two early like with the majority of pre-orders I put through with the smaller etailer sites.

So uh... where can one purchase this on PC?

Is it only available through the Microsoft Store on Windows10?

Where to get the best price for pc?

I don't think they are selling the PC version before release because that's how you really get into PC gaming, not selling products. Few rogue retailers might have the PC version up for sale but I don't think there's been any announcements about PC even getting a retail release?

It's not available through the Microsoft Store either.

I see, hmm... any idea is it will be available to any other retailers? Steam/Origin/U-Play...etc?

Based on what we've seen so far with Gears of War, I doubt that (selling the game at other digital stores) is going to happen anytime soon. Maybe in few years if Microsoft Store fails to take off? All just guesswork at this point.

No just W10 store.

Bah, alright then. Thanks for the replies.

I really don't want to use the win10 store, but if it's the only way to play the PC version I guess I have no choice.
