Quantum Break Gamersyde preview. HQ gameplay inside.

How is insane metal not banned for posting that spoiler? Like how is this shit even allowed?

The most annoying thing about Remedy is that they take ages to produce their games, as good as they are there's absolutely nothing in QB that takes 6 years to make, it's a 7 hour linear shooter, doesn't have multiplayer and other core features, an experienced team of 150+ people like Remedy should spend 3 years tops to make a game like this. Again look at ND and Uncharted, comparable scope, hell Uncharted even has multiplayer, and that only took 2 years on lastgen, and 3 years on ps4 due to scrapped material. Just seems like mismanagement.
6 years for a severe subnative game (not even 900p) with 150 people for pretty much a linear 7 hour shoooter
is not something that's too impressive. On the flip, I don't think this game is close in scope to UC4, not even close.

Some people are saying it wasn't the spoiler that was in the tweets. I'm not sure if what he posted is true or if it was just a joke.

Is there any way to report that poster? Even if it is a joke it is a terrible thing to do.

This is so surprising coming from you.

You make these statements as if you've played both games (lol @ "linear"). Simply amazing.

This next month or so is going to be a bit nasty here huh?

It's like people have never played a Remedy game before.

Complain about rushed games... complain about games that obviously do more than a lot of other (1080p) current gen games (as some gifs in this thread show) taking too long to make.

I don't understand it.

Bottom line. If the game is glorious, groundbreaking and clearly brings forward the gaming medium, then 6 or 5 years is nothing. We can always forgive the wait in the delivery of genius.

But if it's merely a good game then yeah that's probably too long. It's all relative.
But the longer it's in the oven the more restless and hungry the masses are. That's just the nature of the beast. Sorry folks.

What do you think about this fancy resolution thing they are doing?

Anyone know when the review embargo is up? I remember reading it could be a fair degree ahead of the actual release date?

Cool. 3 more days. Should be a sufficient amount of time for reviewers to sink their teeth in to this. I know a few have already completed it.

Yeah Jeff from GB said he was playing the game on last week's Bombcast, so essentially two whole weeks to play and review. That's a ton of time especially for a game that's not 20+ hours or anything like that. I assume they want reviewers to go back and see the branching story paths in detail.

Might be a dumb place to ask but I can't seem to find a concrete answer. Which version of QB also gets the PC version? Only if you buy it directly from the Xbox One Marketplace? Or also if you buy a physical copy?

Yeah they said that indeed.

Any idea at what time the embargo lifts?

Edit: Oh wait.

Embargo drops April 1st 12AM PST/3 AM EST

One of the GAFers posted that they finished the game twoish weeks ago, on day they got their review copy, so the reviews won't be rushed for a change. I know a bunch of journos who tend not to finish the games they review for time reasons.

"Anyone who pre-orders the Xbox One digital version of Quantum Break through the Xbox Store, purchases an Xbox One digital token at participating retailers, or pre-orders an Xbox One Special Edition Quantum Break bundle, will receive the Windows 10 version of the game downloadable at the Windows Store via redemption code.*"

Awesome. Given the multiple story choices and their affects etc, I think reviewers should aim for two play throughs. That way they can give us a more in depth analysis of how decisions actually shape the experience and differentiate play throughs.

Look I can't say much but even being a fan of Remedy... please don't start comparing this to Last of Us, etc. I don't think thats a line we need to be tip toeing or a precedence to be set.

I can't tell if you are saying that as a positive toward LOU or a negative ?

I'd argue that as for story telling, Remedy are the only other company up there with ND who can bring cinema to games. Not a fan of Uncharted but LOU made me a believer that their narration is a step above the rest and Remedy in my eyes after Max Payne 1/2 and Alan Wake are on par.

If I want to buy this game on PC I have to wait till release day and buy it from Windows store then right? There is no preload on pc?

I would say Remedy has a very different cinematic style though that's somewhat hard to pinpoint. Naughty Dog's cinematic/movie-like inspirations are pretty clear although just as effective. But a Remedy game just feels....eccentric, weird, and self aware, yet still high production. They're cinematic but always tongue-in-cheek and they often ham things up without taking themselves too seriously.

It's like you have an agenda bro

I might be mistaken tho

Why 'lol' @ linear? Because you can influence the story? That doesn't make the gameplay less linear really. The levels are still pushing you from a to b and the acts still follow each other up in the same way. Look at it as a Life is Strange for instance in that regard. 'Gameplaywise' that one was actually linear too.

That is not necessarily a bad thing, mind you. QB is a linear shooter, just like other examples in the genre. (I never though of linear as a downside, it is an artistic choice)

Cool, didn't notice this was a QB vs UC4 thread.

Fuck how are you still posting?

Nothing is wrong with linear games. Not every game has to be "open" etc.

I'm actually more interested in linear experiences at the moment. I feel like I've overdosed on open world ones, or simply don't have the time to invest in these mega open world RPG's etc any more. That said, an ideal length for a story driven narrative game for me is still 12-15+ hours. Though I know very few games these days of that description, are actually that sort of length.

The argument is that a linear game shouldn't take 6 years to make. It seems to me that every new ip gets stuck in development hell at Remedy, with them building and scraping a lot of stuff in the process, a late change of the cast is a good sign of that.

Sans people that put resolution on a pedestal, I have heard nothing about good things from this game. We're looking at great gameplay, great cast, and the best we can come up with at present is UC4 wars and digging remedy on the length it takes to make the game?
