Fuck that. We better be like this:

Has there been any confirmation that VR-SLI works currently? Or is it still in internal testing?
VR SLI needs engine-level integration, and I haven't seen anything in regards to that for the major engines yet. The only recent mention of it was with Valve for Source 2.

Will probably be a bit yet before any actual games leverage it.

UE4 officially supports it now as well. But I don't know of any devs currently using it for the launch titles.

I also think the steam VR plugin for Unity 5.4 adds multi gpu support.

Hope that comes fast. It'll be good to see a modern implementation of SFR used in VR :D

It does seem like in the future, VR SLI support will pretty much be a given. The performance benefit of each GPU rendering one eye is too much to ignore.

I have an i4690k and a gtx970 MSI

Where do i start if i was interested in ocing my GPU before the Vive comes?

I'm a complete noob in this stuff, mind you

MSI afterburner, and google overclocking 970. There are youtube vids that are helpful.

Basically though:
- put the power on 110% (no voltage increase),
- run a benchmark like uningine so you can monitor for glitches
- while running that you
- increase the core clock step by step (maybe +20 at a time?) and leave for a minute to check for no glitches. if you get issues, back it off a bit. I got to +170 core clock with no problems but different cards will manage different amounts.
- once your core clock is done, do the same for the memory clock - you can usually do more with this so bump it around 40 in each step. I got to +400 but again YMMV

I regret to inform the Vivegaf community that I have canceled my pre-order (which was somehow bumped up to an April delivery date). The reason: I measured my tiny New York City apartment and I did not meet the minimum room scale space, additionally I didn't see any games or experiences that are worth the purchase right this instant.

This doesn't mean I won't be back. I will take that 902 USD and invest it in a new Polaris GPU and will wait to see what type of standing only games (and Vive games in general)will be available post launch.

Farewell for now.

RIP dear friend.

Better than this, look at the size of it

Can't wait for the haptic feedback power glove and Alicia Silverstone girlfriend simulator though.

Speaking of which... Why no rumble Vive? Interacting with the world would be so much more realistic if we had some sort of tactile feed back when touching objects or feeling walls. Make it so!

Isn't the haptic feature taking care of this?

Yes. Yes it is

And the amount of feedback from the haptics was already messing with the controller's IMU in the dev kit versions. It was fixed by stiffening the controller and repositioning the sensor in the Pre versions. Full out heavy duty shake your hand level rumble would be even worse on that front, so possibly why it was left out.

I scored an unopened Vive Pre for 1200 (including tax) on Ebay. I can't wait for it to get here!! April 1st :)))

The differences between consumer and Pre are very minimal. I'll just get the game codes on the cheap :)

I have to say that I haven't been this hyped for any hardware to arrive in a good while. Probably not since DK1.

I get hyped about everything, but this one does feel 'special' for some reason. like in 20 years, I will have the Vive in my retro VR headset collection.

I briefly got an April slot on the pre-order page earlier today, but hesitated ordering then.

Now I'm refreshing the page and hoping to get another one :/

So wow, I had a really cool dream. I got the Vive Pre in the mail, set it all up, then put on the headset. I was immediately transported to a snowy mountain, and my health started off low.. I had to provide for my in-game wifey and eat so I wouldn't starve. Had to find a weapon and kill a giant mammoth looking thing. Used it's meat for food and fur for warmth. Woke up and searched everywhere fer a game like this. My search failed.

I really hope someone makes a great survival VR game.

Wait what? You ordered today and got April? How? I ordered day one and mine says May.

Nah, I visited the pre-order page (tempting myself) and it said April 2016. But it turned back to May soon after that.

Apparently the order system releases the slot if someone cancels their order, instead of moving everyone forward in the queue.
qa_engineer here on GAF got an April slot that way, confirmed via HTC support.

People noticed that if you refresh the order page, you sometimes get an April ship date estimate. This led people to believing that, when someone cancels an order, their slot is freed up and remains open for a new order. In other words, when an April order cancels, the order behind them does NOT get moved up; instead, a new order just takes their place.

None of that is confirmed, and HTC reps said it was just a bug and orders would be fulfilled by time stamps.

Still, it's giving people hope.

Wow, that's pretty annoying. So I guess the best thing to do is just keep trying until I get April?

I have a 6700K and 980ti, both watercooled. Hit a flat line with the SteamVR performance profiler. That's without overclocking so will spend some time this weekend to take it to the next level.

Since they haven't actually shipped anything yet, there's always time for them to shift them by order time. I'd find it quite amusing if they did do that... Not because of the oddball new person cutting in line, but because it'd be hilarious to watch those that canceled their existing order so they could exploit the bug to move up instead get shifted further back than they ever were.

That's a fucking cool room.

Sweet mother of god you have a gorgeous view out that window.

Yeah, it's a relatively tiny house although it has three floors, but it has some cool spaces and a good location at a fjord, so I'm not complaining.

That window seems sufficiently large to throw the furniture out of.

Hehe, I'll forward your brilliant idea to my wife and cross my fingers ;)

I bought some light stands for the lighthouses, but I have this feeling that the floor might be causing them to vibrate.. It'll be interesting to see next week..

I wonder how much it costs to get an electrician to install down lighters. My alternative is to tape my pendant light to the ceiling and remove the bulb
