and the CGI splosion climax were pretty terrible, and do not hold up whatsoever.
The CGI climax is still some of the best action on film period. While still having emotional stakes between Cap and Bucky/Fury and Alexander Pierce.

How many comic book films have successfully managed to balance this many characters, on a narrative level?
Hint: Not many.
Methinks people around here put a little too much faith in the Russo brothers (I actually think the more diehard shoutouts to them are getting a bit cringe-worthy).
The Winter Soldier was a GREAT film...until the final act. That shit with Dr. whatever his name was whose brain was preserved in a computer and the CGI splosion climax were pretty terrible, and do not hold up whatsoever.
Stop fear mongering. Nobody had done it really that well until the Avengers (yes most of GAF apparently disagreees). Not to mention that they're not MEANT to be balanced; Ant-Man and Spider-Man are probably meant to have about 5 minutes of dedicated screen time each. The movie will focus on Cap and Iron Man. They've said from the very beginning it's NOT an Avengers film, it's a Cap film. The team just happens to be there.
Infinity War is another story, but enough with the "Russo's just got LUCKY" narrative.

And then Europe have to wait 1 day after Asia to watch it.
Here's to watching it on April 27! \ (◡) /
Okay, I never understand the complaints about 3rd act of Superhero films being well, super-power fest. What do you expect to see? High drama? Superheroes punching each other like some MMA fight on costume?
I say, FUCK NO. I want to see Superheroes showing their powers. I want to see explosion, supernova, power fights. I don't want some fucking beat them up shit ala Nolan's Batman. Fuck realism. I want supernatural, I want super power, laser beam, etc.
If it's not for you then go watch another genre. A drama, a beat them up film, anything else but the complaints about the last act being CG fest annoys the fuck out of me. Because that's what I want. You don't see Superpower realised on films without the help of CGI.

Yeah thats fine and all but none of these big endings were ever nearly as interesting as batman/Gordon/two face imo
And in cap 2's case the action was at its best with the street fight with black widow, bucky and cap
Only in avengers was that big third act fight the highlight of the movie. Normally these films stage much more imaginative action sequences when they have less to worry about. Hell I thought Tony stark with just the iron man hand and boot in IM3 was one of Marvels best action scenes easy.
Different strokes...
Haha, love the enthusiasm. Yeah, I don't see why some don't like TWS's end there. I thought the last bits were fantastic. The BSGesque scene of hellicarriers raining down hell on each other, "hail....hydra", and that beautiful moment between Cap and a still confused Bucky that parallels what happened in the first movie and the entire speech that goes with it ("with you to the end of the line", "you're my friend", etc.). And also, this shot:

Pathos and explosions can mix well together and I think they do in this last bit of the movie. It mixes about as well as any blockbuster popcorn flick at least. Oh yeah, "captain's orders" before the action starts is also one my favorite moments of the entire movie.
The helicarrier destruction is just a small part of that movie's climax.
Bucky and Cap's fight at the end is like the best part of the movie for me and Fury confronting Pearce was great.

Putting aside the fact that I never fully understood the criticism of Zola in Winter Soldier, I have taken to dismissing people when they say something similar to the above. Now, I'm just using Solid's comment as an example, but I've seen this same thing mentioned quite a few times. That is:
"Loved WS, but the last act sucked once Zola showed up!"
The thing is, Zola shows up way before the final act. After Zola, you have the reincorporation of Falcon (and his reveal) you have the highway battle (which is usually praised by the same commenter) and you have the arrival of Maria Hill and the return of Fury.
Neh, the first TWS-Cap fight is superior in every way to the last. Blows my mind that they ditched a focused rematch.
I actually get to see it April 27 too. My local cinema always shows the big blockbusters via a special screening 1 day before release and I already bought tickets ~2 weeks ago.
It's also "men night" where you get a free beer with your ticket and all beer/alcoholic drinks are half off for movie goers with an event ticket.
Shit, I'm going to be in Houston for a work trip the day this comes out.
Anyone know of the best theater to go see it?
Already bought my fam IMAX tickets in our town, now I gotta find mine...

dat confidence.
I wonder if we'll see an inverse reaction to BvS. Critics, not fans, are screened weeks in advance because they're confident the movie will review well. Critics love it and start spreading good WoM early on. Hype on the internet builds until the movie ends up breaking $200M OW.
That's a freak best case scenario that I could actually see happening. I can already hear the cries of a critic conspiracy.
Spoiler
It's going to be well received by critics

For fans who are hoping to see Scarlet's relationship with Vision (played by Paul Bettany) evolve even more, you're in luck -- Olsen told ET that it's "totally" happening!
"You learn a little bit more about what connects [Scarlet and Vision] in this film," the 27-year-old actress revealed. "And I think there's some really sweet moments between Paul and I, and it's more about how they relate to one another and their similarities just based on their superpowers."
At one point, Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) dies and Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) inexplicably cuts his head off and drinks his blood to absorb his powers and become a master archer.
this might have been answered already but what the heck does captain america say to spiderman
