Giant Bomb Vive stream | What a Time to Be a Vive!

That gives me pause for my VR game idea. It was going to be hyper realistic.

Seeing how dumb the GB people are is depressing.

Guess I could have trigger notifications everywhere that can be turned off by people who actually know how to use firearms.

Blows my damn mind that peeps don't know how firearms function when they are put on display with every FPS reload animation and movie out there.

I'm going to say that most people don't know how to operate a gun. I don't know why you're calling them dumb, it's not like in school they hand you a gun and tell you to disassemble it.

I'm guessing you were the one that Jeff told to fuck off from chat?

What the hell is that supposed to mean? Maybe if I see something worthwhile playing and not just MOVE crap, yes. Look, I understand the difference between MOVE and this and I understand, and can fully imagine, that you actually feel you're within the world, and I fully understand how your brain can be fooled into feeling real world experiences within VR. What I'm saying is these worlds look terrible and no more than simple tech demos that should be given away for free. When I see something more substantial then I'll perhaps be on board with the whole 'VR is the future' thing again but with these games leading the charge ... It's DEAD on arrival. And when I say dead I mean 'This is cool!' ... 'Yeah, it was never that good anyway.'

Dreadful and potentially the Wii/Kinect/MOVE all over again. Having No Man's Sky at launch of the PSVR might just right the ship a little but as of now this is a kiddy/granny machine all over again. Harsh, I know, but I'm genuinely angered by these pitiful offerings here that only exist in this form because they know people will 'need something to play'.

The Wii sold like over 100 million units in 4.5 years

Literally the worst example to use.

The idea that it's an issue general people don't know how to mechanically work real guns is fucking insane.

You know those people Jeff was talking about when he was shit talking on the chat? That was for you.

Living in a place that has some common sense and guns are illegal, I'd have absolutely no idea what to do with a gun if you told me to assemble it.

Good luck selling a super realistic VR gun game outside of America.

When you play literally every game including early access on Steam you are going to find clunkers. There are a shit ton more real games left they haven't played yet.

Development on roomscale games is pretty early but considering if you want to make anything on Vive you have to do it, I'm sure there will be a decent amount of stuff.

Isn't RIGS a controller based game? They're talking about player movement while retaining the fidelity of the Vive motion controllers.

No rigs is controller with head tracking aiming.

But also move + sony nunjuck thingy which jeff mentioned would be interesting - you have tracked GUN and a stick.

You have fidelity of motion control AND a left stick for movement.

Dude even in America there's not that many people who would play VR and know how to use a rifle.

I'd say because devs know every Vive owner also has the hand tracking controllers, but for Oculus you need to support traditional controller as well as optional Oculus Touch.
Ah, crap. That's true. However, it still seems like a problem with VR in general? PS VR won't all include move controllers, and neither will Oculus. It seems like games that come out on Vive that support their controllers will be able to support touch, and I sincerely doubt we see a ton of roomscale experiences due to the difficulty of actually setting that up. At least with the touch controllers it seems like they'll become a bit more widely implemented sooner rather than later.

Surely this being the only way for most people to experience this would make it kind of popular. Plus I bet Eastern Europe would love it. America isn't the only place in the planet with some gun culture.

I mean who DOESN'T know how to use firearms? You learn that in first grade! IN AMERICA.
