I still can't get over the fact that I'm going to be watching a Marvel comics movie that features Black Panther and Spider-Man in it, fighting along side Captain America, Iron Man, Vision, Scarlett Witch, Black Widow, War Machine, Ant Man, Hawkeye, and The Falcon.
Like, holy shit. It's my childhood cartoons and comics come to life.
I remember having conversations a long, long time ago with my wife about expecting Spider-Man to show up in a Marvel movie at some point in the future after the MCU became really impressive (sometime pre-Guardians of the Galaxy I want to say), but I never actually thought it would happen.
Even after the partnership was announced, I was skeptical. It's Hollywood. They pander to money, not fanboys, and I thought the deal would fall through at some point, and Spidey would be cut from the movie. I know a lot of people have mixed feelings about them revealing Spider-Man in that final trailer, and I understand those feelings, but I almost feel like it was a special circumstance for me.
When they showed Doomsday in the BvS trailer, I was irritated. It was an aspect of the movie that I didn't know was a thing, and as I hadn't followed any rumors or leaks, I had no idea he was going to show up.
With the Spider-Man reveal, however, I almost think he needed to be shown in a trailer. If anything, to hammer home the point that he's actually in the movie. It now feels real. Seeing him in the trailer, seeing the toys being marketed, it's finally starting to sink in for me that Spider-Man is now a part of the MCU. It's amazing. I was expecting the other shoe to fall during the time of the partnership announcement to release, but now it's actually real. Such a strange, yet pleasant feeling. Those reaction videos are so fun to watch, because so many of them mirror my own excitement, even though I didn't jump out of my seat and holler like a doofus when I watched the trailer.
