hyped for this. trailer looks amazing and it built up a base for the story. The story needs to be very interesting, because we know they "fail" at tthe end and only get the plans because vader and the emperor let them have it, so the ride needs to be amazing.

Wait wut? Explain this further please.

Donnie Yen could easily be a Jedi in hiding and can't use his lightsaber because Stormtroopers will be like 'Fucking call Vader now'. Hence the stick.

Main actress is a bit cringe-inducing, just like Ridley. I really hop we don't get a second Mary Sue just for the sake of the "strong independent woman" thing...again.

This shot is amazing:

Maybe she'll don a strap on to keep the mouthbreathers happy.

I'm really hoping for the best for this movie. If it's a big success and we can start getting other kinds of genre movies set inside the same universe, the mind boggles.

Stuff like this is how they get someone like me more invested in the universe. I've never been some massive Star Wars fan, but they expand and execute properly with these stand-alones, it can only do some good. (I still have zero interest in a Han Solo film though)

This looks so much better than Force Awakens. And the lead girl looks like she might actually have personality, unlike Ray.

It's a movie about rebels on a stealth mission against the Empire to steal Death Star plans. That's as Star Wars as a Jedi and a smuggler fighting alongside Rebels on Hoth.

Why would you expect the story of the rebels to have the same tone as the story of Jedi and Sith and such?

Imagine if they made a movie about a bounty hunter and the criminal underworld of Star Wars
I don't really expect that.

I guess the difference is I rather there not be the offshoots every year and just have Star Wars remain faithful to what the series is known for and be this mass hysteria big event once every blue moon.

*shrug*

Not the end of the world.

I'll lol so hard if Vader comes in to curbstomp everyone at the end but gets blocked by a Jedi German Suplex

Looks a lot more interesting than Force Awakens at least.

Since it isn't really hamstrung by anything yet, I think I'll like this one

Dat interpolation though.

I'm so excited now. I thought they'd maintain the look of Episode VII, but this looks quite a bit better than I was expecting. It seems like an actual wartime thriller than something more sanitized to sell toys (though I'm sure that's going to be at play.) Good job, Gareth Edwards, for setting the tone right for these spin-offs.

Lord Star Wars truly is back and its so glorious.

Looks amazing. With Garreth at the helm I actually expected the AT-AT scene to be a more impressive use of a low vantage point and scale because he is so good at it.

Still great tease.

Is your dislike over her simply due to the fact that she is a strong woman?
Daisy Ridley was an excellent actress in TFA and from everything in the teaser Felicity Jones looks like she is going to do a great job as well.

Agreed, the sausage fest needs to end.

Trailer looks good.

Come on! Ridley was great, nothing cringe worthy.

I thought Ridley was ok at best, and maybe it's the delivery in the trailer, but Jones isn't scoring high marks yet.

And no, obviously it's not simply because she's a strong woman, That's silly.

It's because I feel like Kathleen Kennedy really wants me to know they exist. I'm aware they exist, compelling characters like Ridley from Alien make that point by being interesting, not by clenching their jaws a lot and doing everything perfectly.

Supersonic, idiotic, disconnecting, not respecting, who would really ever wanna go and top that
I'm not even a big Star Wars fan and this looks hype as hell. All aboard the never ending hype train. So many great shots in that trailer.

That doesn't mean you put a literal samurai beating up stormtroopers with a wooden stick into the movie. :p Seemed a little silly to me, considering they're wearing armour.

This a universe with many planets and species and cultures. The possibility that one of those species and cultures resemble that of Samurai is not really shocking... this is a galaxy for more vast than ours.

Ya I think More_Badass is right. Yen prob won't identify with the Jedi anymore, or think they failed and were wrong. Former jedi angle works well.

She looks more like Caroline Blakiston than she does her younger self!

Just what I was thinking.... wow.....

I've always been kind of lukewarm on the "Ewan McGregor as middle aged Obi-Wan" rumours, but maybe it'd be worth a shot.....

If he was a Jedi then he has to die in the film. Luke was the very last Jedi as of the OT when Yoda died let's not forget.

Jedi are literal samurai fighting with katanas (lightsabers) and using their bushido zen buddhist ethic (The Force) to help them in their struggles.

I can kind of understand what you mean by "they shouldn't literally...." but at the same time, the samurai DNA was so much in it from the beginning that I personally never thought to reject it.

Yeah, it was just a little too literal for me I guess. Movie still looks AMAZING - so much of this trailer nails how I wanted the prequels to feel. Star Wars always had some grit and grime to it, and Rogue One gives that to us in spades!
