Fun fact. They filmed that in Canary Wharf Tube Station.

FUTURISTIC

Canary Wharf is going to be the new New Zealand.

That may be the case, but I'm a bit bummed out he's not in the new trilogy. I would've loved to have seen him in that, instead of another prequel.

Which looks stunning, by the way. But it's clearly a one-off movie.

Some star wars is better than none, view it this way, he probably wouldnt have signed for a trilogy and these Anthology films allow certain actors to join films and not be tied down for 5 or so years filming one franchise, that can attract alot more talent.

We could see some HUGE names in standalone films, aswell as some HUGE directors.

I personally cant wait to see what happens.

I've been saying for a while if they make Vader a slasher film type monster where he just starts cutting down people and is entirely unstoppable I'll be happy. I want some more stuff like the Rebels sequence of him vs. Kanan/Ezra. Dude is a monster basic Rebels aren't gonna stop him.

Yes. This. So fucking much of this.

Vader as a Jason Vorhees level unstoppable monster is exactly how he should be portrayed given when this movie takes place. Vader isn't being clouded by thoughts of his son or anything, so he should be in full on no fucks given murder mode.

Just don't do any shitty retcons
like Sheev bowing to Snoke in a Bacta Tank good lord, no
and this will be fucking amazing. It looks even better than I expected.

Some beautiful shaved bothans in this. Also why is someone torturing Chewbacca mid-trailer, from the sound of it?

Looks very good overall.

Lol, even Mon Mothma can't help but laugh at the "I rebel" line, but that's precisely why it is such a great line.

Yeah, people are missing that it is not supposed to be a super cool line - it is supposed to show the naivety and immaturity of the main character.

The directing and tone are off base for a Star Wars movie. Way too grounded..

Too all saying the tone's too different and too grounded: that's precisely what they're going for. Many times they've come out and said Rogue One would on purpose feel different because:

a) this is a spin off
b) first SW movie that won't center star Force sensitive characters
c) There will be no Jedi whatsoever
d) It's just regular people fighting a war

They've also said this movie is going to be less white vs dark. They'll tone down the Light/Dark side binarism that's ruled the other 7 SW films.

And I, for one, greatly welcome this change! If you want a more classic SW film you already had VII and next year you'll get VIII.

Bring on a more grounded, Force-less, Jedi-less, SW film!

Correct. TFA is one of the slickest, most gorgeous blockbusters I've ever seen. Everything here also looks pretty nice, but better than TFA? Not yet by any stretch. Also, that sole shot of Donnie Yen hitting the stormtrooper is extremely bland to the point where I'm wondering how they even let it in the trailer. It looks like a shot Lucas would compose. Completely static, mid-frame two shot, boring composition, colors are dull, the action is plodding. Any of these things would be fine if there was something else to pick up the slack, instead it makes for a really dull shot.

Obviously a complete nit-pick, but if we're talking about already looking, visually above TFA, I'm not seeing it, and this shot is a good example of that.

I'm prolly getting hung up on the scenes where they are on the planet with the new cantina. That stuff was Abrams tv show level whereas other shots like the Jakku stuff did look really great

I'm totally down for them squeezing Snoke or other elements in there as long as it feels natural. Where he's been around it would make sense in the new context.

Yeah it would warm me a lot more to the movie if small parts here or there have a knock on effect on the new trilogy Movies in a franchise being interconnected in clever ways always has my backing.

I'm not sold on the time period chosen either, seems like they're doing it JUST to have a new movie with Vader in it. Still, Disney has been on a roll lately and the trailer looks on point so I'm not overly worried.

Yeah it's a clear cash grab exploiting Darth Vader just incase the new trilogy went to shit.

You must really dislike historical war movies, eh?

Pretty much. It's hard to be emotionally invested if you already know the ending. But something like the Imitation Game was good to watch because I didn't know much about the influence it had on WW2. If they can somehow add that weight of importance to Rogue One, I'll gladly concede I was mistaken.

Ewww, no. I'll never know why people insist on making the universe feel smaller by having everything connect.

It doesn't make it smaller. Clever connection between movies in a franchise is what draws people in.

I hope Darth Vader kills her by blocking a blaster shot and then says "I repel"

I trust in you Whitta!

Goddamnit I hate you for making me lol at this

There were very few shots in TFA that were slick. Poe's Run was the star of the show for me. I remember when people were trying to talk up the 3D stuff in it like that Star Destroyer shot and I was all 'nah fam'

I'm wondering if we will have a Jimmy Smits cameo.

They were discussing this on Rebel Force Radio, Alderan HAS to play a part in this film, has to, its too important and frankly this is the only film scheduled that would have any reason to go there.

If they go to Alderan, why wouldnt Bail Organa be there in some capacity?

That being said it would most likely have leaked that he was in it, so best guess is no.

You can't be serious x-|

Snoke is older than anyone who has ever appeared in the Star Wars movies. He has seen the rise and fall of the republic and empire.

Sure, he saw the rise of the Empire. He was just a kid, but he saw it. He was born the same day as Luke and Leia. They were in the prequels too!

Why do you think he named his followers The Knights of Ren? As a reminder of his beloved Sabine, who clearly dies a gruesome death at some point, pushing him over the edge.

no, I'm not being serious. probably

He saw the fall of the Republic and the clone wars as well. Before Ezra was born. We have gotten confirmation he was around in the prequel era. Sorry. This fan theory has been debunked.

Given the voice work JEJ did on Rebels, I expect him to deliver one hell of a performance. His voice sounded identical to the OT, I'm unsure if they were using some type of corrective modulation or what but it was uncanny.

More like Disney. They're pushing that female lead with the black sidekick.

Technically Disney did female leads from the very first beginning. But only Star Wars films have a female lead and black sidekick? I don't think it's a particularly progressive motive; more like white dudes will flock to Star Wars no matter what and it's all about roping in the rest as well. Still, the end result is good and feels fresh, so no complaining.

Yeah, people are missing that it is not supposed to be a super cool line - it is supposed to show the naivety and immaturity of the main character.

Except in the trailer it's framed with epic music and a smug look on her face, we don't have any indication she's anything other than a bonafide ass-kicker.

It was a moment that basically sunk the entire middle section of the trailer.

That alarm sound was horrible. I couldn't even concentrate on the trailer as a result. I know it was in the movies, but it was never that drawn out and obnoxious.
