Just watched the trailer again without sound, my god it feels so much better. The visuals are goddamn incredible. It's too bad the dialogue is lackluster and the typical Zimmer fart horn removes a lot of personality/flair. I love the force theme/Imperial March at the end but man, I expect a LOT MORE out of the music in the film.

Especially since, throughout this franchise, they've tried to make/imply that Palpatine was one of the most powerful sith lords ever.
Rey is 19 years old in The Force Awakens. Which is 35 yeas after Rogue One/A New Hope. So she would be born 16 years after ANH/RO.

Maybe Sateen survived and joined him on Tattooine. She can be played by Cate Blanchett in the inevitable stand alone Obi Wan movie (since I'm pretty positive that's who she was modeled on anyway). She and Ewan are the same age.
Not talking about the siren, at all. I'm talking about the WAHHHH fart horn we hear in every Hollywood movie since Inception/Batman.

I don't know how I would feel about it. Sheev would still be scary and powerful and all that, and he's a bit of a weasel so it wouldn't necessarily be shocking if he were answering to a higher power. While some would see it as a retcon, I dunno, having Snoke be the big big bad across the entire 9 part saga would make it feel even bigger in some ways, so depending on how it's handled I wouldn't mind such a retcon.
Well technically it wouldn't be retconning anything. Snoke is never mentioned in the past six films so there's really no factual information to prevent him from having existed.

Putting the Raid staff in TFA was such a fuckin' tease. So much left on the cutting room floor.

I think a twist with a fake emperor dying in ROTJ is fun, but the idea of a "clone" emp, even in a universe where clones are everywhere, seems really lame. Reminds me of spider-man clones.

I like the idea of Plagueis being Snoke, but I don't like the idea of Sheev being aware that Plagueis survived.
Worst case scenario and that's Sheev in the cloak and Snoke in the tank, it's a retcon but one that sort of works in terms of the existing plot - why at any point in the OT would he ever volunteer the fact that his master had actually survived? I think it's more of an issue of the audience having a hard time buying it, but it doesn't actually contradict the overall story.

It'd be a perfect place to drop it. Where better to learn something new about a character than from a movie that takes place in the past? Also- it would really tie together an over-arching story between Rogue One, the OT, and the new trilogy.

It pretty much kills any chance that this is about Rey's mom. It's not like they can set anything up. It's over 16 years before Rey is born. People predicting it has baby Rey at the end are really mixed up about Rogue Ones timeline placement.

I want more lightsaber fights akin to the prequels. Those were great, and very visceral and stylistic.
The only lightsaber fight I really liked in the OT was ROTJ's because it meant something.

The ANH style Star Destroyers almost look too good. I mean, it kind of look like the prop models before they're set up and lit properly. Really impressed with the look. This is the kind of Star Destroyer a random house guest knocks off your display case, shatters in a million pieces, and leaves you in eternal agony for the rest of your life + a body in the kitchen to deal with.
I don't think the official teaser shows any Imperial Tie Fighters ... we know something went down because there are Rebel pilots and crashed X-Wings. The 10 second clip from the other day used the Tie Fighter fly-by sound effect.
The only thing I'm worried about with this upcoming film is whether it's going to confuse the hell out of the casual movie-goer. Force Awakens was a sequel that paid considerable respect to the original trilogy ... and this is literally the original trilogy.
The main actress is a wait and see. The Force Awakens newbie cast ended up being a lot better than my initial reactions.
I'm optimistic about this. Years after playing playing Rogue Leader, Dark Forces, and a dozen other Star Wars games, I always wished they did a spin-off film and this is like a dream come true.

It was like 2 seconds and there's a reason for it. Think of it like Force roulette, trying to throw each other off and then predicting when the other will make the next move. This has got to be the most insane nitpickery in the entire prequel trilogy.

Kenobi and Yoda hid L&L from Vader, Rey is kept hidden from Kylo Ren/Snoke, Palpatine is hiding in plain sight from the Jedi, Snoke is hidden from Palpatine across the entire trilogy.
Is Star Wars really about hiding stuff?
Because then you get flashy "one up" nonsense like in Ep III. Keep that in video games or the tv shows.
